Honestly doubt it though cuz I would assume that Maccabeus MIGHT have at the very least gone back to his ship to discuss it with his council and either would have made contact with the Prophets and Truth at the very least would still have convinced everyone that humans were not worthy to join the covenant and would have order our extermination. My other though would be that Maccabeus would have gone back for council and then still be challenged for Chieftain by Tartarus and Tartarus being a religious zealot would have then still order the human’s extermination while also getting approval from the prophets. The whole war was set in motion by Truth, Mercy, and Regret, (mostly Truth). They had assume they were the ones to lead the galaxy with the Mantle of Responsibility but then once a shard of Mendicant Bias actually translated the forerunner texts Truth realized their whole religion and structure of power was a lie and he hid it from everyone ( not sure if Mercury and Regret knew this as well ) and then order Humanity to be destroyed.
@@Anakinskywalker98 the whole war is based on the concept that humans are heretics to the great journey, and their religion ( which views the forerunners as Gods ) if they learned that these humans ARE forerunner, it would destroy every concept they know of the religion. They would have no reason to still listen to their prophets if they discovered this entire species were the lost Gods the covenant have been looking for.
Read this book and most of the Halo books I have around 11 years ago. Loved it! I need to at least re-read the Forerunner trilogy and The Fall of Reach.
Based off everything that I've heard, they're just as awful as brutes and honestly kinda deserve ultra heavy population control if not outright extinction along with most covie species.
In the book the Flood, there's a mention that grunts are trained to have a "when in doubt, shoot" attitude during one of the covenant perspective chapters. That book was written before this one so maybe Joe Staten picked up on that and chose it as the reason they started shooting.
My only critique is slightly slow down how fast you are speaking, it's causing you to mispronounce certain words pretty hard. Other than that you did a damn good job, hope to see you take off.
F for the Grunt and Engineer
If the grunt never fired, the brutes would eventually learn that humans are the “artifacts” and turn on the prophets.

The Grunt that fired his weapon at the militiamen did a Franz Ferdinand lol
I'm not sure it mattered when the first 'emissaries' they ran into where brutes of all things, lmao.
@@shadow7988 Lol true
They could base a great show or movie off of this book, lore is gold
Yeah I feel like they have plenty of lore to make content off of. Would prefer a show about the books than the show we got
@@Chance_4 yea just horrible writers and money hungry ceos
@@robertvardanyan6790 they would totally make more if they just took existing lore and made it as a game, tv show or movie.
Great explanation and breakdown of the event! Thanks for the vid!
As a kid I read the books before playing the game so I always imagined the covenant looking like the black creatures from the shadow the hedgehog game
Lol

Yeah the books are a great piece of the halo lore
Under-rated, I like the editing, pacasoo.
Thanks, expect more vids like this soon
This was excellent.
@@bryce5301 thanks more videos coming
Why is it always the grunts that causes colossal disasters... pretty sure a lot can be avoided if the grunts would just sit down.

Wrote an essay on this book in high school
@@Gh3ttoAstronaut yeah it’s a good one. Wish halo would use extended universe stuff more often.
