Justice is a process and some people go through it faster than others. Remember for that woman there is not enough evidence linking her to that crime even if she is scummy.
Even though she hasn't been sentenced, she's still in prison just means when she does get sentenced the time she has done while waiting for it will be removed for how long she was locked up for.

To everyone saying they shouldn’t have been punished, I googled what came of the case. A friend that was present during the incident, but was not involved in pushing the log, testified in court that they knew the photographer was down there and did it “to be funny”. It was a 74 lb log. She was with at least a teenager (and likely that teenager’s parent) taking senior portraits. These two knew they hit her, fled the scene, and tried covering up their involvement for a month. Awful.
That is absolutely horrible. I understand they were scared to get in trouble, but when someone is killed and you flee the scene, I no longer have any sympathy for you.

When I was only a year older I got sent to adult prison for 2.5 years for MARIJUANA. They kill someone and get only 6 months longer... This is OUR justice system and its broken.

They barely got punished. They deserve a felony and real prison time but instead got charged as children and went to Juvy. They didn’t even get a slap on the wrist compared to the harm they did on that woman and her family

Same here, my grandpa always used to drill stuff like that into me. But humans, especially some teens, aren't capable of not doing dumb things every now and then. @Bøņę Đąđđý neither one is innocent, manslaughter is a charge for an accidental death to another person, ( wasn't ment to kill with intent) both admits to being there, both blaming each other but there testimony shows both participated in it by both admitting to what happened by being there and one admission states both of them moved to log to be placed in position to be rolled. If I was let's say with a friend and I accidentally killed someone with friend being there both us knew what happened but also failed to report it, both us will still be charged with manslaughter because both was conpliciate to the facts of the case of death. 2 to 3 yrs for manslaughter is very responsible sentence but they both should of been giving atleast 7 yrs each as both failed to report / admit there guilt instead they dragged case on.... With lengthy investigation. They should of came forward from beginning when they realised what they did either way if one is guilty of manslaughter the 2nd one still gets a sentence for hiding the truth it's called conplicate to a crime it carrys a sentence either way

there has to be some info missing, did they know someone was down there? did they push it off trying to hit her? It makes a difference, one is a tragic accident, the other is pretty malicious. I get the vibe this was an accident, so punishing the kids for something they didn't intentionally do is pretty severe. I feel for the lady and her family and I also feel for these young boys. tragic all around. As young boys, who hasn't done something similar? Police don't need parental consent to question a minor. However just like an adult a minor can refuse to answer questions and ask for a lawyer or a Parent to be Present. Edit: Some states do have different laws though like California requires by Law anyone over 15 to consult a lawyer first.

I doubt someone his age could trick a Polygraph. But even then, establishing a motive or awareness of the victim is more difficult than establishing who did what, which is why those things aren't used so quickly in most cases.

Yeah but then you’d be in prison. If you participated with somebody, and told the truth, the other will lie and throw you under the bus, therefore you’d be receiving full charges and punishment despite the other person who participated.

its highly unlikely that they would have done such a thing on purpose, its not terrifying that they got 3 years, it makes sense, typically a sentence for manslaughter is 10-12 months, so if anything its shocking they got 3 years, not saying its undeserved, just saying it makes sense and isn't scary

When I was only a year older I got sent to adult prison for 2.5 years for MARIJUANA. They kill someone and get only 6 months longer... This is OUR justice system and its broken.

If I was let's say with a friend and I accidentally killed someone with friend being there both us knew what happened but also failed to report it, both us will still be charged with manslaughter because both was conpliciate to the facts of the case of death. 2 to 3 yrs for manslaughter is very responsible sentence but they both should of been giving atleast 7 yrs each as both failed to report / admit there guilt instead they dragged case on.... With lengthy investigation. They should of came forward from beginning when they realised what they did either way if one is guilty of manslaughter the 2nd one still gets a sentence for hiding the truth it's called conplicate to a crime it carrys a sentence either way
