I like the music. You made this look so easy. I'm assuming I don't have to take out the crankshaft pulley since it's only the pump that's bad and not the belt?
Quick question. Have a 2009 Dodge charger no codes come out, no lights are on, no leaks but does overheat no white smoke from mufflers and no noise. Water pump or head gasket?
Probably not head gasket, check under oil cap for white frothy stuff to be sure. Does the car blow full heat inside the cabin? If yes probably not the water pump, if no it could be the water pump, heater core, thermostat or even too large of an air bubble in the coolant loop. Hope this helps!
So I have a 2010 3.5L dodge charger and when I idle the car starts to overheat( makes it to the 3rd section of heat thermostat). Checked the engine while on and I see that the radiator fan was spinning but I also seen a leak (not sure if it’s water or coolant). Would it be safe to assume it’s a faulty water pump or is it something else ?
If it just overheats at idle, it's very likely there is too much air in the coolant loop. At running speeds say 4k rpm for example, it would have 4 times the pressure of a 1k rpm idle. So while your driving the pump has enough force to push the air bubble past the high point while at idle, it cannot and the coolant sits still which would cause the overheating. I'd make sure fluid is full and system is bled properly. If that doesn't do it let me know.
That shouldn't be too bad. I would unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel, drop the transmission, remove the flywheel and then you should have plenty of access to replace it.
Nope, just the main aluminum timing cover, take tension off belt and slide off top stuff leaving it down around the crank pulley, change pump and reassemble.
Does anyone know if the 2010 challenger and chargers have the same engine and intake manifold…like can you use the engines of these cars in one another?thank you
Yes, Chryslers 3.5l V6 is found in the base dodge chargers and the 09-10 challenger se models. Depending on year the vehicle will have a 4,5 or 6 speed transmission so you'll want the same speed from donor car to the receiving car to make sure the bell housing bolts line up.
@@bakerRebuilds thank you so much for you’re input that’s another issue with the engine the bell housing bolts did not align but somehow still worked I will make sure to ask next time have a blessed day brother
Great vid music wasn’t even loud ppl just have bad listening skills or bad speakers in their devices. And sounds like a music from one of the sonic game’s
Thank you. I took this engine all the way down to the bare block so I made separate videos to help someone on a specific part. If it was bad though you would have over heating due to lack of circulation.
@@bakerRebuilds hello, my 2010 3.5 is slowly leaking water over night when parked . When I drive it to my dads to try to pin point the location it wouldn’t leak. We let it sit a few hours and nothing. But I drive home let it sit and over night it starts and after a few days I checked and was almost at bottom for coolant reservoir. What could this be?
@@seanf6968 I would do a compression test to rule out head gasket. I'd also suggest starting first thing in the morning with it jacked up so you can lay on your back under the front of the car and try to pinpoint any leaks.
@@seanf6968 I don't think so but I could be wrong. Check under the oil cap. If there's any white or foamy stuff it's a sign of a head gasket leak. Make sure where your thermostat goes that it's a secure connection and check back by the fire wall, by the heater core to make sure it's not leaking. That's about all I can think of for losing water and not overheating.
A hell of a lot more than that I wouldn't post something saying how to replace a water pump on a 3.5 V6 Dodge Charger SXT and not go through the entire process like you did. I would show it from beginning to end which includes putting it back together refilling The system and starting and running checking for leaks etcetera

Any advice on replacing a rear main seal on an 09 Dodge Charger 3.5 v6 high output?
That shouldn't be too bad. I would unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel, drop the transmission, remove the flywheel and then you should have plenty of access to replace it.
Don’t have to pull the harmonic balancer pulley?
@@neilritter8418 No, you do not.
@@bakerRebuilds thank you man. Good video 🤘🏻
@neilritter8418 I appreciate that! Also be sure to torque the water pump bolts properly. Wouldn't want a leak there
No mention of taking off uper intake plenum or the valve covers is any of that necessary? To change the water pump?
No that shouldn't be necessary. Probably the upper radiator house but then you should be good to proceed.
Fantastic thank you

Hello sir the repair shop told me that it would be 1,900 dollars to replace the water pump. Is that accurate??
@Charles-dm4ku I don't exactly know but with inflation and the labor required, that's unfortunately probably about right.
