I owned a shop in alaska and had same issues with cars not safe, owned by police officers. Told me I could not take their rig out of service,... they had zero breaks and yet drove it away

Near where I lived there was a larger dump truck that they had overloaded and the frame bent in the middle nearly to the ground. "Somebody has some 'splaining to do."
Regarding the guy at 5:10, maybe he is married to a cheap wife. My 1st wife had deep pockets but short arms. When I told her I need new brakes for my truck, she said "no you don't" so 1 year later I had to get new brake pads, new calipers and rotors. Then she said "why so much". Duh!
To make it even funnier.......the people who dont change the oil for 50K - 100K miles and want the engine replaced under warranty LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously the fact you folks in the US salt your roads in winter means the State Governments should: a. either replace your cars every three years or b. provide full underbody wash stations to clean the salt for free on a 2 daily basis when they use the salt
It's the insurance company lobby that wants salted roads to reduce collisions, otherwise our premiums would be through the roof because of bad drivers. If the government was involved in vehicle replacement, taxes would skyrocket and/or registration fees would be astronomical.
I always notice two things when watching these types of videos! First off, there's a bunch of people who know nothing about working on their own cars, and secondly, there are a bunch of mechanics who think they are way funnier than they actually are lol.
I've got a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi with over 550,000 km (330,000 miles for my southern friends). Never had a drive train / engine / transmission or major mechanical issue. I love my Dodge (just hate the fuel costs).
Here in the uk🇬🇧 our vehicles have to have a multi point inspection ..if it fails its not allowed on the road until its repaired..no death traps like ive seen on here
Had a mazda 4X4 PU come for a no start condition. Dropped the front pipe and it fired right up. Clogged catalytic converter right? So I put a cat on it. Still wouldn't start. Knocked on the muffler and it sounded funny. I went to cut it off and it stunk to high heaven. Got the muffler off and it was very heavy. Turns out it was stuffed with dog food. Turns out a chipmunk had stuffed it full of dog food.
That truck was well balanced as it stayed on the rack. put back on the ground and weld up to drive to scrap yard. 1:30 shop safety don't walk under it or break rule 1 do not die at work.
These videos remind me just how well made modern cars are, they are on the road lookin like this and most people come in with minor complaints about a noise or it pulling to the side a little.

In most countries in the so called developed world or so called first world countries, there's an annual or bi-annual safety and pollution control mandated by law that has to be done on any car for to be roadworthy. Most of these effed up examples of car negligence are from the US, where most states has zero mandated controls of anything regarding cars and their safety. But they have a lot of guns. And minimal healthcare. Obesity too. Fork.
I would not get under a car if the body and frame were rusted out like some of these cars. Like the picture did you see the truck on the lift folded, you could be looking at the tail pipes and under the rear end, then have it crash down on you at the drive axel.
If our system was introduced in the US (Dutch APK) and was used as intended I'm SURE 15 to 30 percent of US "maintained" vehicles would end up in the crusher
1:46 has that guy never encountered a bad valve cover gasket? had the exact same issue on my first car. New gasket, new plugs and to be safe new ignition coil pack. Never had a problem with this again.

PA does a thorough safety inspection by a licensed mechanic/garage, including measuring brake pads and shoes and tire tread depth. Some states like VT would fail based on rust in suspension and steering components.
Americans don't seem to do regular car maintenance, it's a pain but glad we've got the mot here in Britain, weeds out the very worst examples, btw, what's in your rainwater over there, I've watched a few of these videos and the level of major corrosion is off the scale!.
