Daniel a little tip on using chicken liver to help it stay on better. Keep some sewing thread with you. All you have to do is wrap it around the liver with it on the hook. That will keep it from coming off easier

We always called them "pedal boats", since it has pedals like a bike. Paddling is what you(or we) do with oars, like with a kayak or canoe. But that's just us(maybe a northern thing). 😉
Lol! "Make sure the weight is upwards, then just toss it in", so Huston tosses it in. Nooo don't 'toss' it in. Lol!!!

As a matter of fact, I remember when I was around 12 years old, we missed only one weekend out of that entire year that we did not go somewhere fishing. You and Houston take me back to those days and make me feel like I am living them all over again. Thank you!

Ach, such nostalgia! Loved riding in those paddle boats with my parents when I was around Houston's age - 27 years ago! I think there's only one place in this city where you can rent them - we mostly used them during the sommer holidays when we would go to the Austrian Alps. Need to look into that rental situation 'cause now I really wanna go paddle boat riding! I think some even have tarp roofs now, not that it would've made a huge difference with how hard that rain came down - made me giggle, really. Got caught in these pourdowns (down pours?) a few times, while walking my dog, over the past couple of weeks. It's like someone flips a switch and the floodgates open.
Glad you found the two missing jugs after all. I'm not really a big fan of fish (to eat) but I think I might just try catfish one of these days.

I haven't seen a paddle boat since I was about Houston's age. That was many decades ago. The paddle boats were bicycles mounted on pontoons. The rear wheel was replaced by a paddle wheel and the front wheel was replaced by a rudder. They were great fun before video games, back in the days of sandlot baseball. We also sailed small boats. I think they were called "Sunfish" They were like a surfboard with a sail. They were great fun...

We drift fished in season for Walleye to fill the family freezers. Excellent eating. We tied our tackle from materials from Herter's. I don't think they exist anymore. I've never seen the rigs we used commercially. Two hooks with some beads and spinners. I don't remember how far apart the hooks were. Night crawlers were the bait. We hid the hooks within the crawlers. We'd go upstream and then drift. We bounced the rigs off the bottom of the river. I don't know if this method is well known.

Good morning Daniel and Houston for your next cat fishing adventure if you go to a dollar general or any store of choice and get a three pair of knee high stockings (the real cost effective ones), Take a piece of chicken liver bait size piece drop it all the way to the toe of the knee high tie a knot all the way down to liver as close as possible pull tight now tie another knot about a 1/2" to 3/4" above the last knot again drop a piece of liver tie a knot as close tho the liver and repeat till you have a line of bait refrigerate or freeze till you next trip just cut between the knots run your hook right thru the bait the panty hose will keep the bait on longer.

Jug fishing, or noodle fishing is second best fishing over sandbass for me. I love it. I made up some quick adjustable jugs for different depths but ain’t got a truck to pull out pontoon anymore so I ain’t had the chance to test em out yet. We always used chicken hearts for jugs, they are tough, stays on hook, flavorful, but shall enough if anything hits it they are hooked! Very cheap bait to buy to.
