Someone mentioned in the comments that you should hang some lights above the fish pond to attract insects so they can drop into the water to feed the fish. I also mentioned that if you get some bug zappers for your patio that you could feed them the zapped bugs. Was also wondering when you'll be posting the video of Whopper's last day, and Happy Birthday Daniel! UPDATE: Thanks for hearting my comment! You all have a nice day.
HVe you’ll thought about an electronic bug zapper over the tank to drop insects all night? I had one over a stream pond and it was great for the fish!!
It's great to see Houston talking slower and more clearly, much easier to understand what he is saying. It's also great to see him take on projects, each of which is a new level of learning.

Daniel, Houston is so fortunate to have a father that is so involved in is life, I am so jealous. If my dad spent any quality time with me like you do with Houston Im sure I would have turned out better then I did. God Bless you sir.
When I was a child we lived beside a creek in Carlisle TN for two years while my father worked on the Cumberland River steam plant. I hand caught a monster crawdad that had backed itself into an empty tin can. A memory I’ll carry to my grave. That was in the early to mid ‘70. You could add some kind of one way in, one way out shelter for the big one armed bandit. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Houston has the coolest dad on planet EARTH! Happy birthday Daniel!!! God Bless!!
Hey I want to thank you. You and other RUclipsrs have inspired one of the youths in my hometown to start his own outdoors RUclips page. I’m proud of his video he put out especially since he’s 11yrs. His page is Great Dane Outdoors. His camera work is really good. I thought you might appreciate it.
Houston is a brave little boy, who will grow up to be a brave young man. Daniel, you are doing such a great job teaching him the love of nature and fearlessness through knowledge. I wish I'd have had that growing up.
I've been hooked on watching you video ever since I saw you on Cole & Jay channel, I've really enjoyed watching your son and daughter and you spending so much time with them , Daniel you are a great Dad and God bless you and your family will always be in my prayers sir

That is a great looking fish tank. Looks like everything is healthy. I love all the different aquatic life you have in there. Keep up the good work , I enjoy your videos.
When we used to camp Arbuckle a lot we would set traps for crawfish and bait them with hotdogs in guy Sandy. Right there off tall grass road. Could usually leave them over night and no one would mess with them.
Houston’s fish pool looks great!! Like a giant aquarium without the glass sides. I enjoy your videos, keep up the awesome work. And happy birthday Daniel.
This makes me want to be a kid again. I loved catching minnows, crawdads, snakes, frogs when I was a kid. I think Houston's the luckiest kid I've ever known.
Dutch says it's your birthday. Happy Birthday Daniel may all your wishes and dreams come true and life has more UPS than Downs God-bless you and your family
Hey yall. Just a tip that air tube..the crawfish will find it and climb it to get out. I'm from Louisiana we have had many "swamp" tanks and spillway tanks. Always found a crawfish or 2 greeting us or one stuck somewhere. They are for sure smart. But being a big tank hop they stay in. And yes for sure for a crawfish boil u need at least 32 to 64 lbs of them lol. Love your videos!!
Water log limbs and logs would be good in the Little pond! The wood releases tannins in the water which is the natural antibiotic for fish! And plus it will be more hiding places for the fish. Y'all stay safe!
I've said itt before but I'll say it again, you are a good father. Love Huston and your adventures 😊 Tthhank you for sharing the fun. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂🥳🎉DANIEL. I saw someone else posted that.
Check out a Seine Net they come in all different lengths they're really good for catching a whole lot of minnows at one time and also I heard you say something about a small leak in the fish tub if it starts to get bigger and becomes a big concern just go to your auto parts store and get you some Metal Bondo it will stick to that metal really good and stop the leak
When it is dark of night--it was the most fun time to swim! Water always felt great, not warm and NOT COOL. Only bad thing---mosquitoes were horrendous, and parents told us not to be gone long---we had not eaten supper yet (dairy farmers).
Happy Birthday Daniel. Love watching your videos. The go pro shots under water are cool. Great job with Houston catching minnows and crawdaddies for his pond fish.
Owls will come at night as well. With the blue heron if you put a fake one, they are territorial, so won’t fish next to another one. It really works. Can order one on Amazon!! I recommend you put a large pvc elbow for hiding. It will turn green and eventually disappear from sight. Eventually you may want to bury the pond in the ground so the turtle can come out and lay eggs if it is a female. They will need to lay eggs, like chickens, doesn’t matter if they are fertile or they will become egg bound. Your turtle also needs to be able to lay in the sun out of the water. They need to be able to dry out and absorb heat since they are cold blooded. The red ear sliders do need to be able to dry out and absorb heat. I hope sun hits the pond for them to bask. In the winter I just put those kids ball pit balls in my pond to hide them when they are slow moving. The pump is off, and they are slow and the balls cover the whole top which helps warmth come in and the fish can be safe. The turtles will just stay at the bottom and only come up if the sun gets really warm for one of those odd days you get once in a while, otherwise we don’t see them till spring. Not sure how cold you all get where you are but something to keep in the back of your mind. You could put some posts in the ground and run fishing line crisscrossing over the top to keep birds like owls from trying to get in. They will hit the line and freak. The dog won’t keep the owls away, there to stealth. If you do one day bury it, put a low electric fence around it if raccoons are a problem, or at the very least a 1 foot wood wall to keep the turtles in the area.
I seen a video! Where they showed how a black net laid on bottom of a shallow spot! The fish would swim over it, and think it was a deep spot that they could hide in. And you just lift up the net up to catch them.
Why am I sat here peeking from the corner of my eye in case a spider pops up. **shudders** But that above ground pond is perfect. If you do get some predators, nothing like a bit of fitted chicken wire. Thin enough to see through, easy to shape to the pond, light to pop on and off, and unless the raccoons are apt with a pair of pliers - will help with deterring.
Make sure the turtle has the rock out of the water for sunning. Get a nice piece of wood or driftwood that will stick out of the water so the turtle can lay on. Turtles need 12 hrs of sun. The vitamin d helps keep the shell hard and healthy.

When I was Houston's age we used tin cans to catch crawdads. we would take a nail and a place to set the can and poke a hole very close to the open end. Then we would use a piece of wire or even a large swivel to attach a line to the can. Then we would tie one end of the line to something on the bank and dropped the can in the water. pull it to the side to ensure it rest on it's side. Let set for an hour or two then pull the can out of the water by the string and check for a crawdad. You will have one almost every time. set out several cans or more.
