Awww Daniel De Jay & Houston, Now you just gotta say you had fun outside da levee with Jared!! I really enjoyed this video & I'll be watching the next one to see just how much fun it was on the 3rd day. I was happy to see De Jay out with you on this trip. Thanks Jared for showing them a great time. GOD bless you all.❣🌴
Omg this brought back some great memories for me. My uncle David and his family lived in Arkansas and Louisiana his whole life after he got out of the Army. Whenever we went to visit them or his family came to visit us in Ohio he always made us these same dishes. There was nothing more delicious than his cooking. Sadly we lost him to Cancer several years ago. I still make his dishes. I was even giggling at the way you pronounce Louisiana cause that's the same way he always did and taught us all to. I got in trouble in school because I corrected my teacher on the proper pronunciation cause my uncle said so cause he was from there. Lol. So many great memories
Daniel,I love your catch, clean and cook videos. It's looks like a great time. I think its great that you get to travel around and experience other states. I loved that cat fish, enough food for everyone. I wish you a great day, God Bless you always
Hey Daniel,DeJay and Houston l truly enjoyed this video and this time l stayed on the edge of my sofa because Houston was too close to the edge of that boat! Thanks y’all
Beautiful down on the water there! Totally awesome! I've found a new friend in Outside the Levee Channel.. Going to love it! Thank you Daniels for introducing me to him! Food looked Amazing! God Bless 🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸
A flat bottom boat is the best for that kind of frogging and fishing! Lived near lock and dam #18 in Illinois. Went to the river nearly every weekend. Love that life. Enjoy your time there! I miss it!🙏😄🐸
I am from the Houston area and let me tell you that some of the best food I have ever eaten came from some of the families I hosted after hurricane Harvey. To help with the trauma they suffered as they came down I-10 and into our area for safety, I opened up a local commercial kitchen with a supervising chef to supervise and got some of those people in the kitchen. OMG, the techniques those cooks from LA taught us in that kitchen and the food it produced was out of this world, slap yo' grandma, throw your napkin, good! We opened up the fellowship hall to serve the people and the church came out to fellowship and have a meal with them. It was so good healing, good eating, good kitchen technique cookin' time.
It doesn't matter what you post. I love watching ALL THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES AND THINGS YOU POST. You can NEVER get tired or board watching you videos. THIS ONE IS AWESOME. KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK ❤❤❤❤
I’m beside myself, I can’t believe how much I love this video. I think it’s one of the best you guys have done. Your content is just amazing. What is there not to like I’m telling you keep the camera rolling! I’ve never seen such a muddy bullfrog. I used to go frog gigging with my mom when I was little. That catfish was a beautiful thing to see! When he was taking those fillets and putting them in that “soup” I couldn’t believe it. That catfish should’ve been on the grill, lol 😂 Thanks for sharing, I live through the things that you do because I can’t do them. I had a great time watching your video.
So, how'd y'all enjoy my neck of the woods? So happy Outside the Levee could show you how beautiful our life style down here is. Thanks for sharing and so glad y'all come with hopes you found yet another way to enjoy the water. Stay safe and God bless y'all. Later gators 😅
@@cherylcampbell7341That just happens to be their lifestyle. Accidents could happen no matter what your mode of entertainment is. They seem like a loving, hard working and caring family.
Aw shucks, @cherylcampbell7341 they didn’t put their young man in the water with the gators. He was in a safe boat. Think about it. They actually wade in water with snakes when they’re back home. He was not in danger and he enjoyed a new experience. More power to him. We enjoyed this video and the adventure.
Jug fishing at night on the boat is my favorite! Nice and cool and we have a 3M strip that shines when hot with a light watching one spinning and going under and bobbing ! Then scooping it up! We run 12 and rerun them so much fun! A freezer full of catfish! ❤❤
Totally a different lifestyle from central California, farm country. I am an old grandma and it scared me to death to see Houston on the front of that boat trying to catch fish with all those alligators swimming around the boat. However, really amazing to see the landscape and the beauty of all the water ways. How do you find your way around the water? It's a highway of water routes. Very interesting. Stay safe.
I watched my Dad pull Blue, Channel's & Flatheads, twice that size, out of the Cedar River here in town as a kid! They usually ended up as garden fertilizer! Love from CR, Ia.❤
Welcome to our Southern Louisiana culture. You guys had an amazing first experience here. and yes, you were killing my ears with the way you were pronouncing things hahahahha!!!!
Now you know why Louisiana is called “Sportsman Paradise” , glad y’all enjoyed your trip, we do enjoy our food here in Cajun Country. Definitely went the right guy.
We are from Louisiana, down the bayou! My husband and I watch y'all videos every day! Love the content, but we really loved this video! And it's true, "it's always better tomorrow" ❤
Daniel- I’m from the area. Da Parish! Welcome. We are different- with food, our language, everything. Love your videos. Retired statee, current local leo, God Bless.
Oh my goodness, that is the best French bread. Since retiring in Florida, I miss the Louisiana bread and poboys. Born and raised on the Westbank of the Mississippi River. I lived in Jefferson Parish. This was like a reunion for me. Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
a soup had little bite stuff in it and was all stock based with veggies that is soup now a chowder has big chunks and a thick base and that is what makes it a chowder and yes I can cook it is one of my passion in life
Jared is a great guy! He lives just across the river from me. I've been watching his channel for some time now, and he puts out some great content. You guys are in for a treat! Daniel, that's a beauty. You broke the ice on bullfrogs. Enjoy!!!!! LWLF will have to just open an unlimited season on aligators! The only allow one month, so many tags can be gotten during the season, but the gator population is still increasing. Believe it or not, back in the '70's there was very few gators, so they stop gator trapping, or capture in any way. Wasn't long before they took over the marsh!!!!!!!! That is one of the biggest catfish I've ever saw from down here. Enough to feed you all!
I hope you hook up with a rice crawdad farmer. You could build a holding pond below using the pond overflow to flood the rice. Get the seeding crayfish, traps, food outlet, just push the pontoon boat to harvest in waders. Add duck food and a blind.
It is not soup, it's Cajun! My husband makes a similar dish called "Cioppino" starts out with a rue. Using some of the sea water (if you dare) to cook your shellfish and sea-creatures, adding spices and adding tomatoes stewed in spices. no need to measure just add love "to taste"! Perfection!🥰
Hope y'all enjoyed being in Cajun Country. I'm in Slidell, just across the lake from where y'all were, where we have alligators walk up to our door steps! Come back again for some of the best fishing and best eating you'll ever experience!!!
What a great couple of days with friends and family. I have to admit it made me very nervous seeing Huston on the edge of the boat with so many alligators 😮. 🇨🇦
Here in Lake Erie, or Lake Ontario Canada we call them white bass or striped bass. Yet Drum we call Sheepshead which are different then you catch in saltwater. Frogs legs sound so good, haven't had them in many years.
@@A_Cunning_Linguist Odd how we all have different names for them, lets say FISH lol I was to go fishing when visiting the east coast a few years and and also in the Dominican & Florida but the others all backed out, Bummer for sure. Those SAND BASS as Daniel said were huge.
@@A_Cunning_Linguist Oh for sure, I have friends who are moving from Ontario to PEI. They are actually there right now cutting lawn on their home & fishing for them off the beach, posting everyday all the fish caught.
Southern style catfish gumbo because you put that soup over the top of rice, that would be at gumbo❤ And fish put on bread or a roll is a fish sandwich even up here in New England. It’s a fish sandwich and if you make it into a soup, it’s a fish stew.
Every Louisiana food I have tried has been absolutely delicious. I love the ruse and spices. I love the fish and this recipe looked super easy so I’m going to try again at where in Southern Calif. Hopefully I will be out there for the New Orleans Jazz Festival next time. Glad you all have been enjoying your trip to Louisiana.☮️❤️
It's been since childhood that I've had a good mess of fried frog legs. (65 yrs old). Mom hated waking up Sat morning to frogs jumpin all over the kitchen. I was praying that Houston stayed in the boat. Great video....😊❤
I'll admit to feeling a pang that you didn't return that old man back to the water, but oh my, that dish looked absolutely delicious! Enjoyed the video and kudos to DeeJay for trying food outside her comfort zone. Well done.
Nice to meet you, Jared. I've watched 14 years of Swamp People. I feel like I know exactly where you guys were! Sorry about your hat, Houston. I'm sure the gator thought it was an egret and regretted the meal. Jared's Gator Tail is perfect for the shallow waters. Sorry about the frog hunt. It's almost as if the gators know it's not their season to be hunted. I think alligator farms are required to release 10% of the gators back into the wild once they get a certain age or size. Louisiana alligator hunters actually harvest around 30,000 wild gators a season, but the population has exploded to nearly 2 million recently. Po'Boys and Cajun cuisine are pretty common here in Mississippi. I'm so glad you guys had a chance to experience what southern Louisiana is all about!
The fish soup looked good. The poor boy sandwich looked even better. Houston was a little bit to close the water. Getting those bottles. Kind of SCARY. Glad your home safe .
Such a great adventure. I love South Louisiana. I was raised on Bayou Lafourche and Lake Verret in Napoleonville, Louisiana. Oh how I enjoyed watching y'all have fun.
Now that’s a taste of a culture Daniel !! It’s so much more than a catch clean and cook!! Basically the same context but theres history in the food there … they cook with their soul!!! I know watching it be prepared starved me to death!!! If it tasted anything like it looked it was phenomenal 🤤🤤🤤!!! And btw I was soooo glad to see a life jacket on Houston❤️!! I know he’s your child and I would never second guess your judgement but if you’ve ever watched them drag a waterway for a child’s body you’ll understand why I’m so passionate about the topic🥺!! Thanks for sharing!!!😊
Real fun video. Houston looked pretty brave standing on the side of the boar ruching for WHITE BASS! The dog ate my homework, sorry, I mean the ‘gator ate my hat. I was happy to see you guys trying the PoBoy and the catfish stew. Houston reminded me of a Navy buddy when we pulled into Italy and all he wanted to find was a McDonalds. Great video and looks like new friends. Have a great 4th!
Best folks I ever knew and called family...I've been gone from home over 50 years. My motto is still "good friends, good food and good wine" and here in Bama still dont get me..lol..my Louisiana family is still with me even now and wouldn't change the way I grew up in that tiny town on the river for anything.
I always enjoyed going fishing in Louisiana. The coonasses can cook oh my everyone of them can cook!! I had turtle soap that they cooked for me & it was delicious!
I live up by BR and love all the food he cooked plus love love alligator and my fav is frog legs and fried catfish. I am a 71 yr old single lady and have no way to get this kind of food. So thank you for showing how to catch it, cook it and most of all enjoy it. Loved watchin yall
I have New Orleans cookbook that has all those recipes in it. I enjoy cooking recipes from it. I even grow certain herbs that are hard to find so I can make it the real way. Powboys are really good.
You are in my home area. I taught 25 years in St. Bernard Parish. I hope you ate a seafood boil, crawfish 🦞, crabs 🦀 and shrimp. Love seafood anyway it is cooked. Some of the best cooking anywhere. Oysters, shrimp crawfish, crabs and almost any type of fish you can eat. We even eat frog legs and alligators 🐊. None better. A true Sportsman Paradise. Love ❤️
Daniel not sure you’re too excited about “catfish soup”. Try it, you’ll like it. I loved to scenery. The gators made it alittle nerve racking for me. Too many for me being out in a boat. Houston you are having so many different experiences. You’re a lucky young man. My hope for you is when you have children, they will be as fortunate. Take care. Stay safe. Love to all❤️
OMG I have never seen that many gat0rs in my life ,I'm talking on utube or T.V or any where . It was amazing and fun to watch Kodos to Dee Jay and Huston for being so calm and Dan for the cam work and Jarad for the boat driving around the gators LOL. i watch the people catching gator in Fl. to see who get the bigest one on T.V and there in the wrong place LOL. thank you guys it was a great video . Dang that's a big kitty fish! And that Coubion. I really need to try that. Wonder how it would be if I added Hatch, NM green chile? Dunno, but I'm gonna need to make that, soon. Thank you Daniel, and Outside the Levee, for broadening my cuisine.
Ok, I honestly looked through the comments for the spelling I couldn't find it so.... that catfish soup looked really really delicious. I have never made it to Louisiana but I love Cajun food and one day hope to venture over and find it that good!
I really enjoyed this video. A great way to start Sunday before church. I was so worried about all those gators. That boat was amazing. I thought you were stuck in the mud for sure but it just pushed thru 😮 The food looked great
Oh my…our family from down the Bayou were all turning red and those who passed…they rolled over in the graves more than once. Yes, it was in fun, but is born & raised in South Louisiana take our food to heart. Glad you enjoyed a home made Couvillion!
Ok, we watched this today and it caused us to fry some catfish, boil some corn on the cob, cook some fresh green beans from our homestead and fix up a batch of hushpuppies. Well done! We loved some of the faces that Houston made...he doesn't seem all that comfortable with those gaters. 😂
Oh my goodness, this was very interesting and WOW on the catfish and white bass (I'm from Missouri and I say white bass) but, I also say soup and sandwich...LOL...really enjoy this video and you might be able to put in a lost and found for a "YEE YEE" hat, when it come gater catching time...LOL...thanks for sharing and have a blessed 4th. of July weekend...Love Hugs Happiness and Prayers...🎆🎉💗🥰😇🙏🏻
Poor fella we call them bar bass in Cajun Country ( Houma to Lake Charles "South of I-10 ") , Catfish coubion is some of the best eating . We cook it a little different in our part of Louisiana it is more of a thick tomato gravy .

I love Daniels southern accent coming thru in Louisiana!
Love ❤️
Old gray headed guys with the big bellies?!! I resemble that remark!
Me too. Took me 64 years to get this good lookin. Lol
God Bless
That was awesome. Looks like a great place to spend a week. Ive always wanted to go deep south of Neoleens and try my luck.

Poor fella we call them bar bass in Cajun Country ( Houma to Lake Charles "South of I-10 ") , Catfish coubion is some of the best eating . We cook it a little different in our part of Louisiana it is more of a thick tomato gravy .
