Maravillosa "promoción" para un gran compositor español. Muchas gracias.

Such fine compositions by José de Nebra deserve more attention.

We completely agree. To tell the whole story, Nebra’s theatrical music has received some attention in the last years. But keyboard music is virtually unknown (until now).

@@marchvivo Keep up the good work. José de Nebra is different from Manuel Blasco de Nebra (Igor Kipnis) if I understand correctly.

@HarpsichordVinylGallery Yes, they are different musicians, but relatives. José (active mainly in Madrid) is uncle of Manuel (based in Seville). The former is Scarlatti’s generation and the latter is Haydn’s. Manuel’s keyboard works are wonderfully original and unique.

Such lively, interesting, and engaging music! It has echoes of JS Bach, Rameau, and Pancrace de Royer.

As far as we know, JS Bach was completely unknown in Spain in the 1750s and 1760s, while French music was very familiar at the Spanish court since the early 18th century, if not before.

@@marchvivo Sure, I was referring more to the structural complexity of the composition
