Thank you very much for watching.
About 10 years ago, I heard Itzhak Perlman's Chaconne and was fascinated by it. The original piece is a solo violin piece, so there are quite a few parts that would be reckless to play on the koto, but I wanted to play it myself, so I managed to record it.
It is a very famous and wonderful piece, and I am sure there are many interpretations.
It is a piece that I would like to continue performing throughout my life.

Brava..!!

I can't speak for her, but as a koto player, what we normally do if we have to quickly change the bridge position during a piece, is during setting up, make a small chalk mark (on the sound board) at the point we need to move the bridge to. It is surprisingly accurate, because even if the strings tighten or slacken due to temperature, as they are all the same thickness, they all adjust by the same amount.

She isn't retuning all the time, most of the time she is simply string bending. The string is supported by a bridge, which divides it in to a playing side and an untuned side. When she pushes the string down, she is doing that on the untuned side, in order to tighten it. This can be done in half or whole steps in order to gain two more tones from the same string. When released, the sting returns to its previous tuned note. This is not retuning the instrument, but is equivalent to a guitar player bending a string.

When you say 'tuning' are you referring to Ms. Kimura placing her fingers on the other side of the bridge and pressing the string down?
That would just be temporarily bending the string to get chromatics.
That is often done to get vibrato, but in this case, it allows her to tune the 25 strings to a single key, and then bend the notes for any chromatics needed in the score.
UPDATE: Sorry, you are correct, I see that she is moving the bridges as the piece progresses!

What else are we going to see ?! Chaconne moved all kinds of instruments, viol,a cello, double bass, piano, cembalo, harp, 2 cellos, 4 violas, violin-cello, mandolin, guitar, some unknown homemade instruments, and now this ! That is what I call eternal music. Maya is doing great , I wonder why can't she adjust it so she can play it sitting. Hope her back does not hurt.

Me he enamorado de tu música. Gracias por el amor que me diste❤️

I've been watching this video for many times now but still can't find the words to express my feelings. Doesn't matter, others already have said everything what possibly could be said. I just want to add, it was a great occasion when a great piece, a great artist and a great instrument met each other. And the most important thing: the devotion to the piece was unsurpassable.
