Lovely raspy Cornopean on the Chancel organ. Love it!
Anyone interested in statistics? Over the past Covid-affected year, Jonathan and Tom have given us 28 wonderful concerts online (that’s one every 13 days), all brilliantly played and filmed, featuring solo organ, piano and organ, piano and harmonium, piano duets - and one piano solo! Plus five of Tom’s delightful animations. 15 different venues (three of those in Europe), 161 separate pieces, including two complete symphonies.
What cannot be quantified are the hours of pleasure all of these have brought on every occasion and also during repeat viewings. Many, many thanks to you both for the planning of each one as well as the performances. Looking forward to lots more!!
Think, also, of the hours of work for Jonathan and Tom, transcribing, planning, practicing, setting up, etc. These men are really dedicated to their craft(s), and so generous in sharing their performances with us!
Jonathan and Tom, when I will look at the night sky here in California I will remember that 28 of those stars represent the performance jewels you have so generously gifted us this past year.
The concert today was of nice variety.
P.S. I want your cuff link-collection!
And Joan, whoever said statstics were dull you proved totally wrong!
@@Richard.Holmquist Thank you for the compliment Richard. Fascination level depends on who and what the stats are about!
Yes love data. Curious how they managed so many in spite of lock down/s
@@Richard.Holmquist I really like the pocket watch and Albert, I need one, hint hint, Benjamin Gage!
Fantabulous.
What beautiful unique sounding instrument and right selection of music for as well
Can't just sit here enjoying without saying "thank you". (From an island in Lake Superior. )
What a stunning composition and a very soulful arrangement. Bravo!
Dear Jonathan, es ist eine besondere Freude Ihnen beim Spiel zuzusehen und Ihr außergewöhnliches Talent genießen zu können.
Mögen Sie lange gesund bleiben, um uns noch viele Jahre zu erfreuen.
It is spectacular. Never stop playing this wonderful instrument to give us happiness. Thanks
Hallo from the Netherlands.
Thanks Jonathan. I think you are one of the graetest organists of this time. Chapeau!!!!!!
Lovely thank you. From Janet xx
It is rather interesting to make the artistic observation that Jonathan Scott reminds one of how no doubt the great concert organ virtuoso William T. Best must have arranged and performed organ recitals in his select transcriptions of older music and symphonies of various 19th century composers. Superb performances as always and full of imagination and superb technical skills on both manual and pedal.
All the pieces are so aptly transcribed and beautifully thought out. I especially loved the Fauré. Such a gorgeous gentle tune.
Thank you for thanking us for the joy that you give us! It is always a pleasure to share in your concerts from the comforts of our home. We hope you will continue bringing this great music into our lives. We owe you both a very great deal.
Thank you Tom and Jonathan, you two have been like beacons of hope during all the lockdowns.
Beautiful and great transcriptions with spectacular playing! Jonathan your musicianship and commentary is outstanding. Thanks Jonathan and Tom!
A national treasure! These guys should be knighted! 🎖🎖
I agree!
YES SMASHING IDEA

Great concert! And by the way, excellent rendition of Bach's 532. Thanks a lot.
Love the Praetorius and that tiny Bevington is a stunner! More Praetorius please!
Magic---as ever. Thank you so very much. Magnificent !

Thanks Jonathan and Tom for another great concert. Such a breath of fresh air during these times.
I love the 'warmth' of the Bevington organ
Oh Wow! That last piece blew me away! I would love to have been sitting in the pews beside you! Wonderful touch, wonderful recording and great camera work. It just gets better and better. Thank you once again.

Great concert thanks Jonathan and Tom. Happy Easter!!
Another superb concert. Many thanks Jonathan, and Tom of course!!
Thanks for your lovely playing and the recoding too, Neil
Such clean, precise and well-thought-out playing. Very responsive and fast-speaking Pedal Reed stops.
Many thanks, Jonathan and Tom. We appreciate you both so much! 👍❤️
Loving Bach as I do, I nearly jumped out of my seat with prelude of the Prelude and Fugue. Magnificent!
On my 5th listen. Cannot emphasize enough how much I love the Somervell, I felt/heard the Elgar similarity immediately. The Dances and the Fletcher are absolute uplifting gems! Thanks again J & T for this tremendous experience. ❤❤🎹🎶
I think Jonathan ran a four minute mile on the Bach fugue in D. Astounding!
Listening again today, for the 7th or 8th time - I don't really keep track. Loved the choices for opening & closing pieces - both are grand and glorious, uplifting mentally and spiritually! I was unfamiliar with Sir Percy Fletcher's work, too, and now would like to hear MORE! British composers sure did write the best processional, voluntary, and ceremonial type pieces!
I once had an LP of dances from Praetorius' Terpsichore collection, played on early instruments, and recall the main melodies were played mostly by recorders, accompanied by lutes. The organ is quite a different sound to me, and just as delightful! Surprise - Praetorius himself was also an organist! What's more, in 1621, he was buried in a vault beneath the organ of the Marienkirche, Wolfenbüttel, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Jonathan has brought Praetorius' work full circle back to the organ!
Bach is always fascinating, intricate and complicated and it sometimes feels like the organ was invented just for Bach! It is always thrilling to hear his work at the hands (and feet) of a master organist like Jonathan - it was truly glorious! Somervell's "Conversation" was beautiful - I'd like to hear more by him, too. Faure's Pavanne was soulful and sweet. Schubert's Symphony #5 always reminds me of Beethoven's 6th - it has that "pastoral" atmosphere to it, and the Allegro sounds gorgeous on the organ! Having heard all or parts of several symphonies played by Jonathan on the organ, I've concluded that almost any symphony will sound great, transcribed to organ! I've been listening to various versions of Tchaikovsky's 1st Symphony 'Winter Dreams" (quite impressed with Paavo Jarvi's rendition) and can definitely imagine it played on an organ! HINT! 😉
The views of the church, with the carved angels up in the rafters, and the jewel-like colors in the stained glass windows, along with Jonathan's remarks on the history of the church, make me want to be there, to walk around and see it all for myself! It's a beautiful, impressive church. Kendal worshippers must be so proud of it!
Thanks to Jonathan and Tom for an uplifting and heartwarming concert and audio-visual delight! Stay well and safe until your next appearance! 🌞🎹💗🎵🌟
Wonderful concert watched from France !
This entire concert was absolutely stunning!
BRAVO!!!! Again and again!
Thank you so much for bringing us this wonderful concert!
Loved it, especially the Percy Fletcher, reminded me of recording a dear late depart friend playing it on the organ of St. Peters, Harrogate in the late 80's (on Reel to Reel)
Watching from the NW coast of America - what a way to boost the morning! Thank you, Jonathon and Tom, for keeping this music and these instruments in public view .... visited this church in 1968!
Amazing concert.
Thank you very very much for the Brilliant concert. I here in Portugal salute you both for your kindness and suberb art. All the best
Incidentally, your explanations of your pieces is just great!
Great music and amazing playing !
What a wonderful treat for Easter Saturday. It’s a long time since I’ve been inside Kendal Parish Church and it was great to see it again through Tom’s brilliant videography. All of the music, as ever, was fabulous. It’s always good to hear something unfamiliar; the Somervell was lovely. On the main instrument, the new Schubert transcription was gorgeous and the Festival Toccata was a brilliant conclusion but the highlight for me was the Bach - wow! The Praetorius Dances were perfect on the smaller organ - I’d love to hear them all played on it. Thank you for a wonderful concert and Happy Easter, Jonathan and Tom!
Just watched this concert again; am almost out of breath after listening to the Percy Fletcher piece! Wonderful stuff.
Thanks fellers. Loved it.
What a wonderful was to celebrate my parents' anniversary. I'm sure that they can hear you from Heaven. Thanks. xx
Love the sound and you are amazing 👏 ❤️
凄い〜楽しみですね!🎹⛪
yay, I can't wait!✨
The D major Prelude and Fugue are performed exceptionally! What a stylish and enjoyable interpretation. I always enjoy all the extra information which you provide by way of introductory remarks - many thanks from Australia. A blessed Easter to you.
Such an outstanding concert Jonathan in a beautiful church. All the pieces were wonderful- some I had never heard before too. 😊 A wonderful Easter treat. Music certainly does bring much joy. I am looking forward to future concerts.
Thank you to Tom for his wonderful filming and recording. What a great team 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
In Friesland, the northern part of the Netherlands I listen to this wonderful music.
I am a devoted fan of you and Tom. You are amazing musicians and we are all so blessed to be your devoted fans. I hope that one day, when the pandemic is over, you will visit the US and perhaps play either in Carnegie Hall and perhaps Lincoln Center as well.
Well, that was just tremendous. You guys are the gift which keeps on giving, & clearly your legion of fans knows it. 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 Cracking Walker!
As always Jonathan I'm looking forward to this!👍👍👍
Love the historical perspective, adds dimension and depth
Thank you. Such a blessing. Xx
Forgot to add - the two organs are magnificent! I'm glad we got to hear both. The Bevington may be "small" but it's sound is big! It was perfect for the dances!
Maravilloso como siempre. Bach, Bach.... Gracias Jonathan. A todos en el mundo: Felices Pascuas. Abrazo fuerte a Tom. ( Juventino Flores, Córdoba,Veracruz, MÉXICO)
saludos👍!
We really need to persuade Jonathan to play at Liverpool Cathedral and St George's Hall.........
Would LOVE to hear a duet with both Organs at the same time❣❣❣❣
Truly AMAZING!!!!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole concert. Thankyou J & T
Happy Easter Scott Brothers!
Well done and beautifully played. One of his best efforts.
Please tour the UK when you can. Perfection.
He has done it again - played a piece of music that was totally unknown to me but which was wonderful, the Somervell, which means that I will have to spend all next week listening to it over and over again.
Thank you from Queensland Australia. Love this😊😊
Really beautiful!!!!!
What a wonderful recital. Familiar pieces beautifully played and some interesting new (to me) pieces, such as the Bach D-major. Great photography and sound recording as always. Thanks, Jonathan and Tom.
Bravissimo !!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎹
Outstanding!
That is quite the fancy footwork Jonathan! Very enjoyable as usual... 😊 thank you
Another fine Concert Jonathan and Tom.Thank you for your inclusion of the Bevington Instrument for the Praetorius rendition. Enjoyed hearing Fletcher's Festival Toccata.
Thank you Jonatan and Tom was this fantastic and exciting concert from the Lake District. Bravo to you both!!
Update: just completed an audiobook, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand, in which the major twice packed a Kendal mint cake for sustenance. Thanks J & T, because of your history lesson, I could picture it perfectly! 🍬🤩
I can't wait for this!!! I LOVE Praetorius' dances from Terpsichore! This is going to be another interesting and beautiful program! Thank you Jonathan and Tom! It will be my first introduction to the music of Sir Arthur Somervell, as well! Looking forward to this concert with great delight and anticipation! 😄👌🎈🎹🎧🌞
Finally got to watch the whole program. Just beautifully performed and videoed. Always love “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba”. And the Schubert piece was so refreshing. Love those deep pedals! Bravo! I throughly enjoyed this program.
Yet another great recital: the music, the commentary, the organs and the church.
I was about to comment that Bach is regarded as the mathematician's composer, and Tom noted the mathematics of arranging stop changes.
I also picked up the comment about architecture detective work: looking at changes through eras. I do a lot of that, but in buildings far younger.
Thank you. Amazing sound. Xx
Yes it is me again from west coast of Africa just had to listen again new earphones even beter thanks a had childhood friend Somerville ian ivan brian cyril scott 5 brothers some of which have return to that side of the pond
Another brilliant performance. I am looking forward to the next one; like others have said, it's helped me get through this Covid business
Clashes with Easter from King's so will need to watch one of them later in the evening. Looking forward to both - top musical events !
Loved the Somervell; a beautiful piece of music - must buy the music.
Jonathon and Thomas, wishing you both a blessed Easter. Thank you for a most wonderful concert. Jonathon brought up something which I was thinking about many times. He mentioned the changing of registrations. I wonder how he keeps everything in check. Playing both hands, both feet, monitoring volume, changing registrations on three or more manuals and always having done it before needing. It's amazing how his mind must work, something most of use could probably not fathom. I've noticed he is always entirely focused on the task at hand. Such an amazing man of superior talent. I've enjoyed his concerts and appreciate all the efforts he and Thomas have put forward to bring them to us during these difficult times. Joan Metcalfe has kept explicit records of the concerts and Video7Rose commented about all the work necessary to bring these concerts to us. I'm thinking that only scratches the surface if truth be known. Thank you again and we, your faithful fans, love you. I hope the Scott Brothers have time to read some of the comments left for them so they truly know how much they are appreciated. Until we meet again, God Bless and be safe.
Well said! I hope Jonathan and Tom get to read the comments, too! They should know how much we fans appreciate, admire and adore them. They truly bring Joy to the World!
@@Video7Rose Thank you very much for your kind comment. I completely agree those young talented men are a gift from God.
Just outstanding! I don't know any other who makes the organ sound the way you do! The Tudor section on the Bevington was unbelievable brilliant! I was transported right back to the Tudor period - totally loved it!
I enjoyed that section too, like you I was taken back to Henry VIII .
@@bobmcdermott9535 I trust you have also listened to Jonathan playing a dance from Terpsichore on the organ of Église Notre-Dame du Sablon in Brussels with its baroque tuning? Its fascinating and wonderful.
@@epincion I’m not sure I’ve heard that! I’ll just have to listen again just to make sure 😀😀
@@epincion I will have to go and look for it, and listen, I’m not sure I have heard it.
The best performance of Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D major I've ever heard!!! Jonathan Scott as always TERRIFIC concert!!! Thank You!
Greetings from Poland :)
I watched on a catch up ....had to go to the Easter vigil.
Once again you have excelled yourselves. I just love your concerts - the playing and the filming are wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to bring spectacular music and sights to us during this horrible 'lockdown' period. From Victoria, British Columbia where it would be lovely to see you and hear you play our cathedral organ. A double bravo!
Another wonderful, wonderful concert - be it original compositions or be it brilliant transcriptions. I have listened to each concert at least three times, including the concerts featuring both of you. Thank you for keeping me going over the last 14 months. Marvellous performances - marvellous presentation - marvellous music - marvellous instruments. I look forward to meeting you both in person at a concert in the not too distant future. Thank you Jonathan and Tom.
