    I just got mine Flight Mustang. Absolutely beautifully made. I find the fret wires a bit thick for my liking. My fingers get more crowded at the middle frets. I have arthritis and was amazed how low I could get the strings with no buzzing. I barely have to touch the strings at the first fret to play the note. That’s probably the upside to the thick fret wires. Mine came with one of the gear tuners loose. The screws were stripped out. But I’m a woodworker so I simply repaired the holes and now the screws are tight. But as I play I’m getting more accustomed to the frets. It may sound picky but there is a 1.3 mm difference in the space between frets measuring from the fret board. That’s significant at the 14th fret. I’m comparing it to my Cordoba 21T-CE. Probably not an issue for younger players but my 76 year old arthritic hands need all space I can muster. The tone is fantastic and everything else is great.

    i am lucky enough to own a Snail S60T and a pro classic Pono. I have a Fremont low G and black flourocarbon strings on the Snail and i love it. Lately though, I am falling in love again with the Pono. thank you as always Alex! All the best to you.

    Nice video Alex. I'm lucky enough to have the Flight Mustang and S60T as well as a couple from Kanile'a. They have all had many string changes but the Flight is amazing with Worth Browns and a wound low G. The Snail seems best so far with Romero Creations UT1s on it and I'm still working on the Kanile'a tenor. Whilst I love them all, and each has it's own personality, if the building was burning and I had to grab just one it would be the Flight in one hand and then the kids or another uke in the other. Obviously would leave the door open and light on for the wife....................

    Thanks for featuring the Pono. They don't seem to get much buzz among all the bright new things, but here I see (and hear!) why they are aspirational.

    Thanks for another VERY NICE presentation Alex! What a beautifully selected group of exceptional and wonderful sounding instruments! The recording itself was also VERY GOOD! And I fell in Love (again) with that beautiful little Melody you were playing so nicely! I have a Flight Victoria Tenor and also the same one in Concert size. I love both of them, and am looking forward to spending the day today learning that little tune you played! Thanks again for really delivering the goods Alex!!! ✋👍👍👍👍🎼🎸😁😁😁

    Hi Alex, thank you so much for doing these videos for us. If I had to go by sound alone, I would go for the Flight.

    OK, I think I got it down now Alex! Very Nice Little Tune Indeed! I ended up putting in a G aug at around 4:36 before starting over again though, cuz I just really like that chord! Well, today is really turning out to be a very nice day, thanks to you and your channel! Always looking forward to new episodes with you guys! As for which Ukulele I liked best in this Video, very hard to say, but because I am familiar with Flight instruments and like the company, I would probably go with the Mustang. The Romero really got me to thinking again, whether I should try a Low G on one of my Flight's or just get a baritone.....still on the fence about that.

    I love some bling and couldn't truly give my heart to a bland looking instrument, but the Snail rosettes are downright gaudy - way too much for me! Also would like if manufacturers considered more alternatives to abalone which is abhorrently hunted/farmed.
    I understand there's an appeal for both looks and 'priciness' in jewellery but surely there are options that are neither animal nor cheap pearloid? I wouldn't mind a thin rosette of lab-made opal :)
    PS. I vote for the Pono!! Wow!

    Hi Alex! I have grown to respect your knowledge and experience about all things Ukulele to a very high degree. As I mentioned, I have been searching for the "Right" Baritone Uke and have (for now) narrowed it down to one I feel really good about. I haven't been able to play one myself, because, unfortunately, we don't have a Ukulele Shop like yours here! BUT, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this and ask if you've already actually played this one yourself. It is the Kala Baritone with a Cutaway. The complete Model number is - KA-SSEBY-B-CE. I tend to lean toward a very mellow sound, like Mahogany, but this one sounds very well rounded, and mellow, even with a Spruce top. I'm very anxious to hear what you have to say about it! Thanks! Cliff

    Really too bad you guys are not in Canada. It is very hard to find a good 500-1000$ ukulele from Millard, flight, snail or any of your brand. Love your vids

    Alex…. i’ve been playing for 18 months… I just bought a KTM Koaloha Tenor…. How does this ukulele rate from your perspective ?

  • @amysantos1426
    @amysantos1426 3 года назад +1

    Im a complete beginner a bought a Kala ebony Tenor that has some anquila strings the thinnest string is so hard and hurts my finger so much specially on the first fret… Im not sure if I just wasted a lot money because they hace no return where I live 😩Or is it that these strings are new? Is there a way to make that string be more tolerable? 😩

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  3 года назад +2

      It's probably a mixture of it being a hard string and you needing to build up a callous on your finger tip.
      You will find this is the case at first with every ukulele you try. If in a few weeks you can't get used to it, change the strings for something softer like black nylon.

    Thanks so much for these videos; I've learned a lot by watching. Do you sell to us in the US? What are shipping costs if you do?

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  2 года назад

      The fine details of US shipping are on our website for small post items but a ukulele ships for £69.50 using UPS. It takes about a week to arrive. If the order totals over £1000 US shipping is free.

      I can't paste those links into the comment section but you can find both on our website ukulele.co.uk in the search bar in seconds. As you are in the US you need to look at the EX-VAT prices on the individual listing.

    I love your videos! I’m looking at getting my first Ukulele but I’m definitely looking at this price range… though I’ve never played a Uke I’m a singer/sax player who went to college to study music so I definitely want to make an investment on an instrument that’ll grow with me as I learn rather then going cheaper to start out then wanting to purchase another uke a year down the road because I grow less satisfied with the tone. Can I make a request/suggestions? I noticed with the time stamps I can’t back up the video to the specific time stamps I’m looking for, just back to the beginning of each instrument section. I was trying to jump from one playing sample to another so I could do a direct sound comparison while the previous sound was still in my ear. If you could either remove those breaks or do a mashup edit at the end of just the playing samples in future videos I think that would be really helpful. I do really enjoy all the info you provide, don’t get me wrong, but I then like to go back and do direct sound comparisons.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  2 года назад +1

      If you put the times you want In the comment section you can just click on your own timestamp to hear each sound sample. I often do it with new videos but I simply don't have time to go back through 300 videos to do it on older videos 😄
