    I went with the Flight Victoria Tenor EQ-A after watching severeal of your videos and I am very happy with my purchase. It's great value for money and it's such a step up from my entry level Makala Soprano Uke. I need the 38mm nut width for my big hands and it changed everything! I finally got the real instrument to progress! Also the sound and playability of the Victoria are very nice. I was afraid that a (solid) spruce top might be too bright - but the sound is really balanced.
    Anyone thinking about investing in a better Uke or not -> do it! :) You will not regret it.

    I recently purchased an Islander AT-4 from SUS.I am extremely happy with it. The finish is flawless, with almost invisible joints in the neck. There are no glue marks. The tuners are perfectly aligned. SUS set the instrument up beautifully. No complaints are deserved from my experience.
    Well done Alex and all at SUS.

      I'll also put in a vote for Islander. I have the Islander MT-4 (with rosewood binding!). I really like the wider nut, and sound is very nice for a laminate. Sounds great tuned Bb.

      i have nothing against soprano ukes;
      playing one with my large hands is like
      Space X super-heavy trying to land in a driveway.
      with a tenor or baritone at least i
      have half a chance on sticking the landing on the right note

    I purchased a Pono mc from Alex recently and cannot put it down. It’s beautiful to look at, feels silky smooth and for a female with slim hands it suits perfectly. I love it so much I am considering a Pono tenor to add to my collection. Service at Southern store is excellent also.

    Thank you, Alex! Coming to you from Canby, Oregon, i am a 68-year YOUNG newbie here.February 2, i got a Kala MA-B Baritone to start my ukulele career on cuz I played guitar way back in the late ''90s; it has great sound & quality for an entry-level uke; but NOW -- training online under Bernadette & James Hill -- i'm ready for upgrade and i totally love your reviews. Who knew sooo much went into creating these magnificent little voices of beautiful music??? My 3 favorites today are the Kai KTI-90 for beginners, Kanile'a's MOT-4 for the bigger budget... & I WANT the Ohana PKT-70G Tenor Pineapple!!! Unique looking ++ renown quality ++ warm deep sound = winning combination for approx $375 US.... Great job! And I agree -- i'd LOVE to see Mr. Hill give a demo on your uke reviews -- that would be so kool but then I haven't seen ALL the greats play yet... Happy trails😸

      This is my favourite type of comment! Your enthusiasm is infectious and it's an absolute pleasure to make videos that help newbies like yourself.
      I agree about the Pineapple Tenor, if you are digging the slightly smoother edge to the sound then maybe that is the one for you!
      James and Anne are lovely people and have visited us a few times for workshops. I also really rate Bernadettes online lessons and recommend her all the time.
      Take care and stay safe

    All I know is that I just started teaching myself how to play and my mom bless her heart got me a soprano and couldn't figure out how to do like others I've seen play so after watching Hotika and Azita I wanted a concert tenor figured it would be easier for me to learn and I got me a Populele and it saved me being able to have the chords show up where to place fingers when learning chords and getting the muscle memory while learning and I'm still using it now as to I'm still veryuch learning. I've started with basics and am working my way up to legit "learn" how to play!

    Saved the best for last, you sly fox ; )
    Honoka & Azita got me started, James Hill added some whimsy, Jake Shimabukuro nailed it, so my flagship of my uke fleet is a Kanilea K2-T.
    It is joined by a Kanilea Islander, a gorgeous Kala KA-SKMT-TRI and some lesser-brands.
    Coming from a guitar background, of course I've low G strings in lieu of high G strings.

    Hi Alex.....I purchased the Snail S60T from you during this lockdown and it is beautiful. I am a person who does pay attention to detail and did not see anything abnormal, so yes you do a good job with checking them out. Also since I wanted a low G I took it to a tech here that I use and had the strings changed. Wow it has so much sound now it is amazing. The technician was really impressed and said he really enjoyed playing it. He teaches ukulele here at one of the music schools. By the way I'm in the states. Thanks and stay safe.

    Absolutely engaging video/tutorial on the Tenor Ukulele. Beautiful playing, outstanding sounds, but I still don’t know whether I should go for the Tenner or a Concert!
    I’ve played classical guitar in a fashion, most of my life, but just feel I’d like a different challenge, and the Ukulele sounds as if it’s the sound, which I’m looking for, higher pitch, beautiful tones, and I love the Hawaiian sound as well.
    I’m now going to delve through your videos on RUclips to look further :-)
    Much thanks, really really enjoyed listening to you play, thank you.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  4 года назад +3

      Choosing to buy a uke with a low action is a bit like choosing to buy a car because you like where the manufacturer left the seat when you test drove it - it's adjustable and something we change for free as part of our outgoing quality check.
      When instruments leave us, we set the action at about 2.5mm at the 12th fret. When you decide which uke you like all you have to do is call or email us with any kind of set up requests and we will add those notes to.your order.
      Barre chord woes ars normally a result of the nut height being too high which is often something that people don't notice... Please feel assured this is something we can adjust on any Instrument and quite often do that kind of work to ukes as standard if the nut height is especially uncomfortable. 🤙🤙🤙🙂

      I understand, but like I say - as long as you deal with a good dealer they can convert a right handed one no probs. That will open up your options too...
      I've only ever been disappointed with cheaper lefty Ukes. The quality control is awful because they assume a lefty will be grearful for what they can get.
