- The Challenger has been around since 1970, and has been that go to even to this the for the ultimate muscle car experience the R/T may not have the most horsepower but it does bring great drivability. Under the hood is a 5.7 V8 Hemi producing 370HP that can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic. It's exterior has the most well defined muscle car shape. On the inside you will fund plenty of room and comfortable seats. Is the Dodge Challenger R/T the PERFECT daily driver Muscle Car?

I think Dodge makes some of the best exhaust note for a stock vehicle without tuning.
You are right about that!
I disagree. I think Porsche and especially Mercedes AMG have the best factory exhausts.
Check out Mercedes AMG exhausts, especially from the V8 models. That might change your mind about the Dodge Hemis!
@@tenhundredkills and pay 2-3 times the price for your AMG
@@gpipeline True, but we're talking about just the exhaust note, not the price tag to go with it.
I still love my 2019 R/T. Everytime I start it up I just smile.
It’s an awesome car, I rent it for a week I know what you mean
Surround Sound Freak 13 Same
Check my video definitely go with a mid muffler delete
I chose the R/T. The Scat Pack insurance wise was just too much and I don't want to be required to run premium gas all the time.
@@joejones5653 congrats! I hope you enjoy it.
13:18 “On throttle!” - love hearing those words! That should be printed on some merch!
You are giving me some ideas! ;-)
Make a great T-Shirt!
Gareth Hood yes sir!
I would definitely buy those shirts .
Gareth Hood gay
This is a car that for me personally was never on my radar until I had to rent it by mistake for a week. This car is badass indeed. Plenty of power, awesome sound. I would only add bigger tires and better breaks.
I am so glad that you liked it! Thanks for sharing that input from your experience!
Renting an R/T is exactly how I ended up buying one. Now I can’t ever go back to driving anything less than a HEMI.
If youre gonna add brakes might as well buy scat pack for 5,000$ more
Same. Me and my wife rented the v6 challenger and we loved it. Still enough power to get through traffic
@@ByIntrosnah. Brembo breaks honestly are not worth it. Replacing brembo’s will cost you 2,400$
The RT trim is one of the best options from Dodge. The 5.7 is reliable if maintained properly. Keep idling to a minimum and be religious with your oil changes. Check coolant and oil levels weekly. Drive the car gently until you reach operating temperature. Yes, the 5.7 is slow but it puts a smile on your face. Usable power at every RPM. When paired with the 6 speed manual, the car is a dream to drive. You get the practicality of a daily driver while having the rumble and roar of an old school V8.
Ride, Comfort, A BACK SEAT, And a trunk(usable) and most of all a HEMI with some muscle but yet good highway MPG's. Way to go Mr. Raiti.
The R/T is a great car. It drives like every other car when you want it too, comfortable seats, comfortable suspension, great brakes and, responsive but not too responsive steering, and plenty of horsepower to have fun when you want too.
Finally The RT Review. This Is Why You’re The #1 Car Sales Review Channel; Thanks Man👌🏾
I had a RT before I got my scat pack. A good thing about a RT is you can get one with lots of nice features for the price of a scat pack. Get more for your money if you don't care about tons of horsepower and still want a V8.
Also worth noting that despite the low HP rating, the engine actually has over 400 lb ft of torque! 410 in fact, which is plenty. 0-60 in 4.8-5 seconds at best is also not slow by any means, unless you're used to crazy fast cars to the general public who isn't this car is very fast! Your average everyday car 0-60's in 7-9 seconds, so this car is significantly faster!
If you're considering buying one don't feel like what you're buying a weak car, this is far from weak.
Look at the 1970 Challenger with the 426 Hemi. Considered by many as the Holy Grail of muscle. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are very similar to the 5.7 Hemi. Anyone that says 'slow' is unaware of Mopar history.
Careful talking like that. A BMW fan might hear you having your own opinion and scream down your throat about how their 2011 E34 would smoke this thing
4.5-4.7 with a good cai
Crazy that we're in a day and time where 375hp is considered low.
375hp is not low.
Joe, no matter times you do these mopars, I just cant get enough of them. Thank you and keep them coming!
Thanks for reviewing a more reasonably attainable Challenger! Hoping to pick up an R/T later this year.
You are so very welcome!
Elijah Waeterling I have owned my R/T for 5 1/2 years. It’s been a good car and FUN car! I have the 6 speed manual with the super track pack👍.
Love daily driving my 2019 shaker. I drive and sometimes you see someone in awe of your car. great feeling . love the smiles she makes people grow. best 0-60 4.5 sec. 14.012 1/4 mile. sweet little 5.7 !
This car turns heads
that’s a unusually slow quarter mile time compared to a 4.5 0-60 time. RTs are flat 13 sec cars and I’ve seen stock RTs dip into the high 12s on a prepped track.
Finally got mine last week. 2020 Frostbite challenger r/t Blacktop edition. Loving it so far and get compliments for the color. Wanted the scat pack but settled for the r/t. Honestly, the r/t is perfectly fine for me. Love the sound, has enough power for me for now, and just puts a smile on my face when I get on it. Still a bit gingerly on the throttle, only at about 350 miles and I've had a smile on for 342 of them. (got it with 8 miles on the clock).
I bought a 2020 RT in May and this car is a beast!!! I love that Dodge kept the classic look on the challenger!! I’m happy that I have my dream car but now I just gotta get a better paying job 😂😬
That is so awesome Chris!
That sounds amazing for being the “standard” V8
Picking up my 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T in less than a week or so! This boosted my confidence about this car even more! Lovely car
Just picked up a new 2019 Challenger RT blacktop and I am loving it! Sounds fantastic!
Just picked up my new R/T Plus. They do sound great!
@@richardghio5072 how you liking it after 3 months? Craving more power?? Lol
i just bought a 2014 rt shaker challenger. omg it is my fav car now. its perfect. i have owned the following 2011 mustang gt, 2008 mustang gt, 87 notchback, 87 foxbody, 2010 charger sxt. the challenger rt has great pickup and it is very responsive. i am so glad i got the challenger. if you are on the fence, get it
Along with the Charger R/T they both are good daily drivers. Remember they have MDS on the automatic that shuts off 4 of the cylinders for fuel savings. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
"Twinkie holder" ill never refer to that pocket as anything else
I like that! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Thank you Joe
I got 2021 Black Challenger RT Super Track Pack . The best purchase I've ever made gives me daily smiles and super cool looks. Guys if you an get one of those don't hesitate awesome car :)
I got my new scatpack 2020 white yesterday and honestly I did NOT regret it! Can’t wait to spend my life in that beast!
I drove an automatic one for 5 days in Austin TX and really enjoyed the car. Would have been great with e 6 speed and maybe like 405HP?? That would be the ultimate sweet spot. Really awesome exhaust sound and super comfortable.
I think you hit the nail on the head.
These cars are really growing on me
nigga i need me one
I have a 2019 RAM 1500 classic Crew Cab with a 5.7 liter Hemi and 8 speed transmission. It weighs about 800 pounds more than that Challenger but is no problem for that engine. I'd love to sit in that Challenger one time and feel the acceleration. Has to be nice. That engine is plenty.
I'm on the same boat, 2019 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I'm curious how it performs in the Challenger, for sure would be good enough for a Daily Driver
“What guy doesnt want a bulge”12:23 😂😂😂😂
Good review as always Joe... I've owned the RT Plus Shaker 6 speed for a few years now, smiles per mile, plenty of street able performance. It is so terrible in so many ways, and I love it ..lol
American Muscle Car Culture at its finest! Plus, you can mod these to be insane without the 2 grand a month payment.
Picking up my 2020 R/T Plus tomorrow! I traded my 2016 Chrysler 300S Alloy Edition V6 for this. I was amazed at the power difference for sure. I am in Germany and am going to be driving this on the Autobahn over here. I plan to have sooooo much fun 🤩 . Thanks for your content. I love what you do. Don’t stop brother!
The 6.4 has so much power I love it BUT the 5.7 has by far the best muscle car sound to me like it's crazy how I prefer the 5.7 sound above the 6.4
True , most people are shocked when I tell them my RT exhaust is stock lol

AGREED!
I found one of these cars with only 4K miles on it. 2019 Blacktop Edition. I love it!
Love mine! So comfy, faster than this guy says it is.... 4.6 0-60 is my best on stock tires. Getting radials next week so that should help with more grip! Haven’t got a quarter mile time worth anything because of terrible wind conditions. I ran a 13.6 at 96 mph due to that wind.

I have a black one with the shaker. gets lots of looks. And is a great daily driver.
I'm personally looking at the 2020 R/T Scat Pack model. I'm hoping in 18 months or so. Every day I want it more.

Great vid, Joe!
Only Dodge is keepin the Muscle Cars Legacy alive, mustangs and cameros looks like more of a sports car

This is the type of muscle car I love. Just the right amount of power to have fun in on the road. And to also be able to get a manual makes it even better.
I really wish they didn’t discontinue sublime for 2020:(
2017 green go was even better
13:48 got them rear wheels singing at the end 😀
Heck yeah! A singing tire is a happy tire! ;-)
Yes sir!
Hey Raiti did you know back in the day, Cyrstler/Dodge/Plymouth actually had a separate garage where employees could work on their own projects using company tools and equipment as long as said employees weren't on the clock.
That’s really cool. Underrated comment
12:22 "What guy doesnt want a bulge?" This car gives me a big bulge dont worry.
Thanks for letting me share all the fun with you!
Probably more than a few ladies 😉,too 😜.
JOE - what do ya know bro? I dig this car because the price point is fair for what ya get & it reminds me so much of an old school car, like the ones I drove when I was 16 - 24 years old. big engine, rear wheel drive (of course) big trunk space (to sneak friends into the drive-in movies), it has the modern stuff everybody wants but the old school appeal of PRO AMERICA. lovin' that Jolly Rancher green apple color too. awesome reports from the man who knows cars & trucks. - tony macaroni
If you have this car you are soooo lucky & blessed. Live your life to the fullest. 🍀
My 2016 328i pulls on these surprisingly. Just shows what that power to weight ratio is all about.
03:53 the larger size is what drew me towards MOPAR. I'm a bigger guy that doesn't fit in the Camaro and especially the Mustang.
this is why I love this channel! I've been waiting on this and I knew Joe would come thru for me!
I have an RT myself, glad one is finally being featured on the channel!💯
Just got mine last week I absolutely love it
Thank you thank you, I’ve been looking for a very thorough review and this one helped a lot. I’m hoping to get me an RT now🙏🏽

I will buy one once they get some stock in! I’m eating for that 6 speed manual on an RT. I test drove an older RT plus with a 6 speed and it was a blast.
That is so awesome Dale! Thank you for sharing your experience!
I don’t really think of muscle cars as daily’s, but I think this probably would work as one.
I had the 2019 R/T, traded it in on a 2018 ScatPack. I got a 4.6 0 to 60 in my 2019 R/T.
Steve Waggoner sane here
Same
Same here man! They undersell the rt🤦♂️
How? Fastest I could get was 4.9 and that’s with me did a bit of burnout to warm up the tires I have 2018 challenger though
@@mttmike I only hit 4.6 one time but I regularly could get between 4.7 to 4.9. In sport mode I would bring my rpms up to around 1300 then when I released the brake if I felt the tires spinning I would pulse the throttle. I would also leave traction control on. You will just have to practice the launch as that is truly where you will gain your times. I actually traded my 2019 R/T in for a used 2018 ScatPack with 18,000 miles on it. Best time I have gotten in my ScatPack has been 4.3 but I can regularly get 4.5 or 4.6.

Any Challenger would be the perfect daily driver muscle car, depending on your taste, preference and budget.

Another flawless review by yours truly Joe! Nice job guys!
Nice car, nice horsepower, I don't mind the engine cover, all around great buy for a challenger. I really like the black wheels.
After owning a Camaro SS manual I much prefer my Challenger R/T manual as a daily driver. Smoother shifting, better balanced and well sorted
I agree with the engine cover zonk. This why I replaced mine with half covers/valve covers that say “345 HEMI” on them
I love that you review various models of the same car. It’s unfortunate that ppl down the R/T because we’re getting spoiled by hp numbers now
Seriously, people are too spoiled with numbers now. Obviously, there are a lot of like-minded individuals who understand that you really don't need a ton of horsepower to have fun, but at the same time you have these people, telling you that you NEED the Hellcat or 5.0 Mustangs to even think about smiling while you drive, even if they're driving a Corolla at the moment.Thankfully, manufacturers will never listen to these people, for they too, would never own a performance car!
Kyle Clement I agree 100% I’m driving a corolla right now so that jump in hp will make me smile for sure 😂
Exactly! Plus, Corollas are good cars within the purpose for which they are built. My first car was a 2012 Nissan Versa with 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. I wrecked and currently do not have a car of my own, however, when I borrow my father's Cherokee, the sound of that Pentastar is good enough for me, plus it has more than double the power of the Versa. I have other financial and lifestyle priorities right now, so I'm waiting to buy another car, no matter how much I still find myself searching on Auto Trader.
Kyle Clement I’m always on car gurus 😂😂
Lol I love the way he put food in sentences while he describing cars 😭
Raiti you always make me want to buy cars I didnt even know I wanted

Love ya videos bud! You crackle me up with your swift jokes, perfect timing! Keep em’ coming will definitely be back here for more car fun and a quick laugh. Cheers!
Definitely the best package you can buy, even in the charger body. Some think they need a 500+ horsepower sports car but you really don’t because most people couldn’t take this 400 hp RT 5.7 hemi to it’s true potential on a race track and they barely can handle it properly on the streets. And everyone thinks these cars are boats and can’t turn very well but again everyone thinks they are a race car driver hitting up race tracks on their daily drive to work. it’s all about perspective too since many people have an SUV or a pick up truck right now as their one n only daily driver... So in comparison to the Challenger ..... well this Challenger now handles and performs like a Ferrari compared to a several thousand pound vehicle that many of us drive around. Lol I drive a 8500lb diesel pickup and can pretty much stick corners on any road very well, so this would be 100x better. Have the 5.7 Hemi in my Durango R/T and I feel it’s detuned 360hp is plenty of power. Ofcourse I have AWD so it never spins no matter how hard you punch it.
erik pollnow that is so true, all I keep seeing is RUclips vids saying 392 or nothing. It’s even peer pressured me into thinking if I get a 5.7 it would be as waste and that’s just not true. It’s fast and like you said perfect for daily driving with really good power and for the price and fuel it’s really good. A 392 is cool but after seeing a couple people saying their car still went a little sideways trying to over take someone on the hwy with upgrades tires seems kinda scary lol idk if I need that much power just to have fun and have a cool car
My buddy has a SRT and I have to admit, its fast but feels restrained. They REALLY need to lighten the car. Loud does not always equate to fast. Power-train is great, but with all that weight, could really move quicker given the power under the hood.
I can totally understand where you are you coming from!
Make it a Darker Green, and it’d be the Perfect Daily Driver for me! Of course, Bigger, Badder, Better but to use for everything, would be Awesome!
I love the review, as always. I'd love to see one of the GT trim!
I will track one down for you!
