  • The Challenger has been in Dodge's lineup for many year. What makes it a standout is the large variety of engines, trims and options that are available. The T/A taps in to the Challenger's racing past in the Trans Am series. On the outside you will find that classic muscle car color called Sublime, functional air grabber lights, 20in wheels and T/A satin black stripes. On the inside you get unique seats, aluminum pedals, and whit faced gauges. Under the hood is a 5.7L V8 that is pumping out 375HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the Dodge Challenger T/A a good first muscle car to buy?

I think the 5.7 is a great. You get the great v8 sound and it’s still pretty fast at a great price.

You are so right 5.7 engine has a thoroughly exhaust system far Supreme over to 392 I hit a 392 but the 5.7 is absolutely bad ass engine

the 5.7l is way better than the 6.4l yes it isnt as powerful off the bat BUT it has way stronger internals and works great with boost you can put both engines on a turbo setup and the 5.7l would output way more horsepower because it can take way more boost without going boom

Great point about the RT being a great starter muscle car, it will do zero to sixty around 5 sec maybe 4.8 depending on tires etc but you can lay all the power down and be in full control, exciting without scary. Lots of performance especially if your coming from everyday cars.

I'm fine with the hp and torque numbers, but there should be some serious suspension and brake goodies on an R/T T/A, especially with the factory weight these cars are 'blessed' with. Needs a manual... Lori, thanks for all you do!

Gotta move up to the 392 for improved suspension and brakes. The Brembos are incredible.

This has to be the cleanest sounding muscle car. The horsepower is at a manageable level and the exhaust.. 💯🔥 I just hate how little trunk space it has. Not a fan of the color but maybe in all white or black.. great review! 🔥

16.2 cubic ft of trunk space is not small.

I wanted a T/A R/T but opted for a R/T Shaker instead, in two years when I upgrade hopefully the T/A package will still be available

Really want one but I know I'd wish I'd got the scat pack. After having a 5 3l should I jump into a 5.7 or can you daily drive the 6.2? Probably should get the 5.7 and mod it a little? I can't decide!!

I love how Joe goes "on throttle" on these barely broken In cars. I'll be asking if Joe did a review on any vehicle I buy lol. Love the reviews!!!!

My daily is 2021 Challenger RT super track pack , I'm happy with it. Its very balanced in terms of drivability and fun and has the same bulge lol
I find 5.7 Hemi produces USABLE power and I did not even think about TA or Scat.
TA is essentially the same 5.7 motor but with higher price tag coz of the bells and whistles lol
And I've driven a scat and found it fun but too much power and $$$ for my daily need.

I wonder Stellantis didn't paint the roof & trunk like that of the front hood? Will the factory wrap peel over time? Is it also the same on the chargers...wrapped roof and trunk (referring to the hood/roof/trunk satin black 5k option)?

I loved the 70 Challenger, but actually drove a 69 Mach 1 428cj and a 72 Javelin/AMX 401 in that glorious era. And I concur that this car is a wonderful tribute to the '70 Cuda/Challenger.
    You made two excellent points:
    1. This is without doubt the hippopotamus of the Muscle Car world of today (my words).
    2. T/A in this case is just marketing fluff for a mostly cosmetic upgrade. Whereas T/A has historically meant a road course car which means "cutting edge HANDLING". And that's one thing that a Mustang, or a Camaro will have a huge edge over on this Mopar on any curvy road.
But I also agree that this car would be perfect for a new 1st time muscle car fan. But I would first recommend a course at Bob Bondurant High Performance Driving School, or Skip Barber's school in your neck of the Woods (S.E.USA).

As opposed to R/T, T/A comes with a super track pak that has 0.5 inch front lower suspension, bilstein dampers, limited slip diff. (if manual), so it still carves corner pretty well. What 5.7 T/A really needs is a 4p brbo as stock
