Winding these things up to the redline in second gear is the sweet spot. But chugging along at low RPMs on the highway with that deep rumble is a close second. Oh, and throwing them around in the twisties like no 4400 pound car should be able to handle is up there, too. It's just a damn-near perfect fucking car.
It's a great car it has to cool the hood if you look up 1970 AAR Cuda it has this Hood. love this car only downfall is Dodge should have stuck to the Challenger ta Hood of 1970
My uncle had a yellow 70 Challenger with a dual quad 440, My brother has a yellow '72 'Cuda with a 440 (originally a 318), but we love our YellowJacket T/A for all the reasons stated in this vid. Sums it up perfectly!
Bought mine at the end of May and can't stop driving it. Probably the best choice for those looking at buying a Challenger but can't figure out which model to get. Well, the Hellcat would be, but I couldn't afford one and not a lot of people can either.
My name Isname, Driving around town I get about 11 or 12 mpg and on the highway I can get 22 if driving 65mph. It is however painful having to drive 65 in this car, so I usually get 18 to 20. This is NOT a car for you if you are concerned about good gas mileage. So, to answer your question: YES!
Look up the zAutomotive Tazer for these cars. I've read they get insane gas mileage (some guys have reported as high as 36-38 mpg hwy, look up videos) and I plan to get a Tazer for my '16 Scat Pack for this very reason.
The best part of this is probably the most accurate description of gear linkage and clutch anywhere on the net of the challenger. It takes a little getting used to and loves being abused, but can be a little clunky cold, and at low speeds.
Question for the owner. If you had to do it again would you buy the T/A ? I'm looking for one in the spring but I've considered an RT Skat pack 392 or a used SRT or Hellcat if I can find the funds. Love the T/A though. Gorgeous car.... and yeah.... I"m gonna really drive it when no ones looking.
nrken1 Exactly mate but unfortunately these modern car lovers just don't get this unique concept. Also dodge is still keeping big American V8s in they're cars.
Now if it only had the Laguna leather, kinda sucks how the T/A has the full 5 year warranty for the powertrain VS the SRT which only has 3. Great video as usual!
Only downside to the T/A and Scat Pack is that they dont have SRT Track mode, but if you get the manual it doesnt matter, but with the auto track mode shifts so hard its insane, you can get the Tazer which will give you the SRT modes.
I have a 2020 T/A 392. I used to have a 2018 T/A 392. Since I had the 2018 and when I was looking to purchase again, I looked at the Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye. I looked at other SRT packages and I came back to the T/A. The car is rated at 485hp, but the onboard dyno has a few times flirted with 500hp when rapped out. The T/A package gives a better suspension and better steering than the Hellcat(although not adjustable). And there is Hellcat “sprinkled” all over the engine. 485hp is MORE than enough on the street. If you say it’s not enough, I’m either not equipped to carry your helmet or you’re a damned fool who’s gonna wreck. Because it has less hp and torque(475ft lbs. That’s A LOT), it’s easier to have fun with. You can use the power better. I put 305s all around and the car REALLY hooks up. Delete your mid mufflers and you’re set. No need for anything else.
I just was on the website tonight and built one before I even watched this video. They must have updated it because as of tonight F8 green was an option. And the one I chose of course :)
I just asked this question. Wasn't sure how far down the replies I was going to have to go to find someone that knew what they were talking about. The Green-Go was in fact only available in 2017 for about three months.
I cant believe people sitting here comparing cars. The mustang, camaro, challenger all are similar but with their own strengths. It's so "to each their own" there's no way of possibly saying one is better than the other. My friend has a new Hellcat, let me drive it for a good hour. Great comfortable car with incredible power obviously, my problem is that it doesn't feel like a sports car, way too heavy and not nimble feeling at all, which that's not really what the car is aimed at anyways. then i narrow it down to the new Camaro and new Mustang 5.0 , hard to find a difference in them, but i pick the Camaro because it's flat out the fastest v8 car out there right now. They all look great, sound great, and have enough power.
My grandparent had a green go T/A then they traded it for a superbird and 3 years later not to long ago i see a white T/A at a store parking lot and I was like OMG ITS A T/A
You can buy a barely-used Hellcat cheaper than that. And this is about the only Challenger test drive I've ever seen with no burn out what's up with that
Man I dont like those wheels. I like the Charger wheels better. There is something about the little horizontal bar between the 2 spokes that just does not look right.
My pops just bought a hellcat for 55k M6 2016 brand new lol sticker price was 71k.. lol and it was 6k less than a brand new TA with cloth seats for 61k
Brandon vidal 61K does sound wayyy overpriced. If wanted a 392 Challenger then I would go scat pack because it's wayyyyyyyy cheaper than the TA and plus you can make it you're own to now of course for me (as well as my dad) I would get a 392 Scat Pack Charger because it has 4 doors (which makes it practical) and it Costs $38K which is really great value.
Brandon" Dont listen to CJ---he is a hillbilly from Kansas city who drives an old rust bucket Ford F150 with a turd 302 V-8 that gets 12 mpg...he did have a good youtube page having sex with dogs but he took it off....shucks...
No it does not. The Gen III Chrysler Hemi is the strongest, best engineered (with the greatest power potential), finest 2 valve V8 engine in automotive history. If anything, Chrysler should add 2 more cylinders to the Gen III hemi and make a V10 (this is exactly what they did for the original V10 viper engine, they added 2 cylinders to the excellent 360 magnum engine back in the 1980's-90's) and bring back the Viper. They went on to win several Lemans races (along with multiple top 10 finishes) with this excellent engine.
Many would say this is not about leather and stuff, but Jesus Christ this car is 62 000 CAD $ without tax, even shitty cars for 38 000 $ have leather seats for God Sake, its not 90`s when it was a luxury option. You are not buying just 4 wheels and engine for 62 G,especially in Ontario.
“If you play Call of Duty and always go for the rocket launcher instead of the sniper rifle, then this car’s for you.” Pure poetry.
Right 😂😂😂
Hell yeah 😎
Excellent way to sum this car up!
I have a 2021 Widebody, but my sniper rifle is an AR-50.
I just bought my T/A 392 few days ago. Got it in Destroyer Grey. I am in love!!!!! One of the happiest moments of my life!!! Can't go wrong.
James Anderson any issues with your uconnect??

Frank Burns You must own one of these cars.
To you folks complaining about $61K: that's in Canadian dollars (notice the Ontario plate and the .ca TLD). That's roughly $48K in US dollars.
aaaaaah didn't think of that - seemd to be quite steep for what it is but $48k sounds like a good price for that mean machine (y)
$48K is pretty reasonable in my opinion. That price will drop significantly when the 2019 models are released.
Still a rip off Canadian or American
The TA Challenger reminds me of a Cuda almost.
It's a great car it has to cool the hood if you look up 1970 AAR Cuda it has this Hood. love this car only downfall is Dodge should have stuck to the Challenger ta Hood of 1970
CJ Colvin drives an old rusty Ford truck that gets 12 mpg off a dog 5.0 engine....
the hood is a sort of an homage to the AAR Cuda

Really great job on the review. Reminded me of watching Motor Trend when I was younger.

Best Challenger review video I've seen. Well done.
Thinking of getting this in a light grey color at my local dealership, checked it out and loved it
Best review I’ve heard!!! Made my decision that much easier! 🔥🔥🔥

A pistol grip shifter would be off the chart!!
Great review man! Just bought the 392 Scat Pack Shaker but it was tough not to get the T/A!
Great review from someone who really gets this car! I love mine, every bit as fun as anything else on road 😊
I love your COD analogy. 😂. You also have the best voice for a reviewer.
Just finalized the build list of my 18 T/A 392 that I hope to order next week!
Did you order a chick magnet option?
Looks can be deceiving your review is second to none. Your awesome!
The best part of this is probably the most accurate description of gear linkage and clutch anywhere on the net of the challenger. It takes a little getting used to and loves being abused, but can be a little clunky cold, and at low speeds.
Steven B. Very true
Dang good looking car! Love the stripes and the 392 engine!
"...rear wheel drive, as God intended" love it!
I ended up opting for the Hellcat, but no doubt this was my second option. Just couldn’t go from an 850hp CTS V to a 500 HP challenger.
I'd rather have this than either the mustang or the Camaro! Only because it will fit my tall frame!

Best review ever !!!
Great review! Too bad we can't get the 2018's in Sublime here in the US!
Its available now on the2023 models.
Best looking car for 5 figures
I disagree
Camaro Z28 5th gen has entered the chat...
I never heard a challenger be described so deliciously
