As a healer main this video has some great tips. One I would add (goes for tanks & dps too) would be "know your kit" utilize all the spells and utility you have and know without thinking how all your passives interact with your spells and abilities 👍
I consider myself a very average healer, I’ve done all of the things that you listed since like classic vanilla and because of it I have been able to get above average results. Am I perfect at each one? No. Always working on it, make mistakes, realize I could have done something differently post-fight, etc. The real turning point in my personal healing was just before Naxx another priest explained to me that disc is more preemptive healing less reactionary and it changed the whole way I look at things, not stepping into fights blind, trying to plan my fights a lot more. I was playing with like 4fps and healing through it, it didn’t matter because I knew what was coming instead of reacting to what just happened that I couldn’t see. I do understand some of the backlash against healing parses as there are a lot of things that you can’t really control about logs (like if the raid leader decides to bring too many healers, or your kill times are too fast or slow your personal logs are going to suffer kinda thing) The thing that resonated with me so much in this video is the healer communication part, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to chat with other healers in a raid about how they plan to approach a fight and just get like shrugged off “I’m just gonna do whatever” kinda feels. Like especially as disc priest trying to just plan out my own cooldowns with another disc priest or not step on each other’s toes. It can be so frustrating. There used to be this atmosphere of sniping heals in 40 man’s that I think that still lives on to this day.

You dont have to be the gigachad with 16 year old counterstrike pro reflexes and 200iq to be a good healer, you just have to know and practice the basics and have the desire to improve. Most healers are so acculturated to the casual raid environment where you ybring 2-3 more healers than you need to that they never even learn the basics and just think of healing as a snipe war.
@@doublezug7193I hated warth so much bc my raid leader always brought 5 heals and I had to snipe so fucking hard. Thankfully in current raid tier my healing is much much necessary and I can actually play my Holy Priest to its fullest strength.
Yo, I really liked this one, it's a good foundation. Off topic, how do you heal 10H Chimeron as disc. I've been throwing a pws+renew on everyone to get them to 10k. Attone doesn't really do it if your ranged heavy. It seems to work okay, but chews through mana so quick.
try to get people to stand with their groups so POH can hit as many as possible. I imagine this is much easier to do on 10m, 25m is like herding cats. Also the actual radius of the ooze aoe thing is very small, people can be very close to each other and not cleave if they arent spamming strafe like coked up demon hunters. in 10m it seems like it should easily be possible to get every single person in atonement range of the boss imo Id avoid pressing renew as disc in basically every circumstance other than very rarely durnig movement or pure tank healing as a filler during movement+weakened soul. The spell is balanced aroung holy talent scaling and just isnt great HPM for disc.

Amazing video. Healing overall is ine of the most underrated misunderstood aspects of WoW, and your analysis really is on point.
I'm 9/13 heroic so far, I like to think I'm a pretty good healer but I know I'm not the best. Never heard it broken down like this, very neat.

Yeah hpriest slaps, lightwater is also just an insanely good player. My warlock is sitting at 82. Swapped to ele flex for the alt raid.
