    My Pastor just told they bought this only with headsets. I never heard of this brand before, and very Leary if headsets for singing. Have you use this with headsets? I’m the worship leader, and no one even ask me concerning getting wireless headsets. So I am a bit concerned about my singers using them. Thanks!

    I own both mics, the Shure Beta 87 and Phenyx Pro PTU 2U. It's true, PTU 2U's sound quality is better than the Shure. The only problem is its plosives. It's BAD, and it's annoying, especially when you're in the middle of worship. Also, the handling noise is bad.

      Interesting, do those issues persist if mic is help off a bit or with a windscreen?

    • @aimanisahac
      @aimanisahac 10 месяцев назад +1

      @GabrielBelloMusic a windscreen would be nice, but some of my singers are not comfortable with it. I'm thinking of stucking some foam inside. We'll see how it goes

    MUSIC???? It's impossible to hear what a mic sounds like if you have music behind it. Mic noise, digital artifacts, etc become hidden by music.
    If you want an honest mic test - you would NOT have music.

      @@lucsbarboza the body pack is designed for microphone. Could probably get cable or adapter to run guitar to it, not sure how it would sound. May be worth the experiment?

    What are your thoughts on running multiple of these units at the same time? We usually have 7-8 being used at the same time, but the cost of Shure/AT/Sennheiser is wild for that many.

    • @GabrielBelloMusic
      @GabrielBelloMusic  5 месяцев назад +1

      We’re using two units simultaneously at our church, 8 channels. They’re quite a distance away, looking to get the antenna system to mitigate signal interference on only 2 of the packs. We also use 9 wireless mics, one for each singer and a speaker handheld. So it’s great, Phenyx for the win!

      might be right, forgot which ones when I was editing haha! Doesn't change it much, still thousand dollars per system and you can hear the results for yourself! What'd you think of the Phenyx sound by comparison?

  • @tonymcarn
    @tonymcarn 9 месяцев назад +1

    I noticed that you have a shure antenna distribution connected. Is the phenyx pro connected to it too for distance?

    • @GabrielBelloMusic
      @GabrielBelloMusic  9 месяцев назад +1

      The shure distro is only connected to the shure mics. The phenyx was just using the antennas that came in the box. I do plan to get Phenyx Pro antenna system in the future, haven’t needed it yet though.

    First of all, I think the Phenyx Pro is definitely usable. But...
    In my opinion, as long as the budget allows, Shure is worth it due to the plosives alone. With that being said, I am curious how much you can reduce the plosives with EQ, and also if the audience can even tell a difference. But to my ears, the plosives are very annoying. However, I don't think most people would mind them either.
    I don't think it's worth it to cheap out on mics to spend on other equipment. Quality in, quality out. It doesn't make sense to me to cheap out on mics just to have to spend more time and money later to improve the quality. Especially in most church settings, the less the volunteers have to do the better.
    The lapel sounds great with the plosives out of the way. But I'm guessing in a more feedback-prone environment it's basically unusable; just like all other lapels. However, I would love to know if they have an instrument cable for the bodypack. I couldn't find one with a quick search.
    With all of that being said, I think the Phenyx Pro is perfectly fine for MC or audience. I would avoid them for vocals or long speeches.
    I'm also wondering if there would be interference issues if you have more wireless systems by different brands running at the same time. I believe ULX goes up to 63, but most people don't need anywhere near that amount. So I think a more realistic scenario would be 4-6 SLX systems and 2-4 Phenyx Pro systems. Would something like that be too complicated to set up for volunteers?

    • @GabrielBelloMusic
      @GabrielBelloMusic  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hey there Kevin! So in this video, the Shure is perfectly setup for the system already with EQ, Comp, Gating, everything. I literally just plugged in the Phenyx mic and didn't even do a low cut roll off to help those plosives, thereby giving the Shure an additional advantage and the Phenyx still held up!
      I agree with you on quality, but just because you spend more on something doesn't always mean you're getting a superior product :)
      I'm actually going to set this system up for the next few Sundays to get some additional singers on praise team, but we did use one for our Christmas program and had zero issues with signal or interference. Once I do I'll be able to compare them much more closely on our livestream mix which is now mixed/multitracked in a separate room.
      I appreciate the detailed feedback and encourage you to definitely check out the Phenyx products. I use high end stuff(nuemann, sennheiser, telefunken, 64 audio) all the time and this Phenyx pro stuff has been blowing me away with what they provide for the cost.

      I’ve used it in three or four different rooms at varying distances with no issues and lots of other wireless traffic. Only thing I wish it had was an auto scam feature. Other than that, this thing is unbeatable in its price range and above.
