I just purchased the Phenyx Pro PTU-2U for $318.00 as well as the antenna rack kit for my second IEM rack build. I think this rack unit and mics are great in comparison to Shure. The mics are heavy and built like a tank. The auto sync is very quick and simple.

1St The Headset Mic isn't designed to put in front of the mouth, But 15 - 20 Degrees off Center on either side, So the air from your Ps don't hit the mic Directly!! The Hand Held Mic supposed to be no closer than a fist away or 3-4 Inches or you get what's called "The Proximity Effect"' add a Windscreen or Compressor to help the "P" issues. The Little MIc you like on your shirt Is Called a Lapel Mic! The owners manual should explain each application and how to use it! Those are XLR outputs, Not inputs on the back as you described in the video! Have a Great One & Keep Making Music!!

The stuff they make is better than it has any business being at that price point. It's not as good as the top-end Shure/Sennheiser stuff that is way more expensive, but it is better than the bottom-end Shure/Sennheiser stuff... which is also way more expensive.

Hi Scott! Another great overview. This is the type of system that would fit my group’s needs, however, we need one of the microphones to be a headset, a la Brittany Spears, for the drummer. Any chance that Phenyx would have this option? Or another manufacturer that could fit the bill? Decent equipment at a relatively reasonable price. As always, thanks!

I always get the Audio2000's Amc4181 off Amazon 3 for $9.99. It’s a similar form factor to the Sennheiser mic clip. Keep a multi tool on you during setup because the screw never seems to be tight enough.
I don’t like the rubbery “unbreakable” kind because I always see people struggling to mount wireless mics onto them. Just my two cents.

@@ScottUhlMusic ah, I just noticed they don’t have an individual unbalanced out. So you would have to use a reverse DI such as the TC electronics teleport to convert back to hi-Z impedance. It’s not a dealbreaker, and probably is a better solution if you’re using a loom with IEC power running through it.

Maybe they sent you a good unit since you are basically a salesman for them? But the unit I got doesnt really work. It is NOT true diversity. It has a indicator on the front of the unit to tell you which antenna it is taking the signal from. It wont change to antenna B even if I unplug antenna A and make the RF signal drop off completely. It just stays on antenna A and squelches to mute. So, the true diversity claim is a bold faced lie. The last gig I did with it, it was dropping out with the singer 12 feet in front of the unit, even after autoscanning the channels once the crowd showed up, and once again in the middle of a song.

    • @ScottUhlMusic

Sorry yours didn’t work. I’m not a salesman for them, I review music gear and I’m a fan of what they do. I can tell you that I’ve used these multiple times and they have worked very well for me. I have had a different experience than what you are sharing.

    • @kronk358

@@ScottUhlMusic Well, you do reviews including an affiliate links which you make a commission off of. Just because you dont work on a sales floor or work 9 to 5 doesnt mean you arent a salesman. If you have an affiliate link - you are a salesman. Your sales pitch is just on youtube instead of face o face. You may even only back products you truly believe in, but you are still selling them. And Im not even questioning your review here. They easily could have sent you a unit that actually went through quality control (unlike the others) to get a better review from you. Or (more likely) their claim of true diversity is a complete lie like all the amazon claims for LED headlight lumens, or flashlight lumens, but they have a few units that actually ARE that they send to affiliate salesmen and trade shows, which they sent to you.
