      @@onewire59 Exactly! I agree - (But some other stunning restoration work on really dilapidated old items has been done very skillfully without the shabby nonsense. IMO.)

    Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for restoring this beautiful antique. Recently, I watched a lady cut out the center portion and make two small end tables out of a piece like this.
    You have saved a piece of history in this video. Thanks for sharing this experience with us.

      There’s hundreds of these people on RUclips ‘upcycling’ beautiful but tired antique and period furniture by chopping it up, throwing away the hardware, taking the dots off, slathering it with chalk paint. They mean well but some of them are ignorant vandals. In 25 years time, new people will be trying to put them all back together again bewildered that this was ever a ‘thing’.

    I think nourishing interior cabinet and drawer, runners, drawer stops, shelf/ves with an appropriate non-staining oil could be a nice treat for those woods.

    My Father (1931-2019) taught Woodworking, Metalworking and Electrical Engineering on College level. And your work and style of wood repair/restauration work reminds me so much of him. Especially when at 3:43 you said; 'You always trust your hands more than your eyes'.
    My dad taught me when I was woodworking: "See" with your sense of touch, your fingers will never lie.👍🏻😊

      Watching furniture restoration videos has me convinced that the true secret is that it's all about the clamping. The more clamps, the better. Bonus points if you use home-made jigs. 😂

    omg, you're my hero! I'm from Ouro Preto, minas gerais, Brazil and as an historical colonial city we breath antiques. I'm learning so much with you and I'm only trying to restore my grandma century house on weekends.     Worked with an orthopedic surgeon years ago that would get so angry if the chisels were dull, he would throw them across the room. Clearly, your chisels are very sharp!! Love your dedication to perfection.

    I was wondering what you meant by 'bail" (in the stain remover)? Could it be (ox/cow) bile? (That's an old-fashioned stain remover for fabrics that works really well, so I wondered if it's the same ingredient...

    My friend has an old piece of furniture. It looks quite worn down, dark and ugly. But I could see once it looked beautiful. I would suggest this channel, maybe she will come up with some ideas. 🙂

    Just amazing! BTW, my grandmother had one similar, and her shelf was in two pieces, as well. She said it helped when she stored taller items. She'd remove the front shelf piece to put bottles or stacks of things toward the front, on the bottom 🤔.

    I love your videos man, the music is nostalgic for me already. you make me want to get into furniture restoration.
