Title: VERY old coffee grinder restoration -
I made a new channel (AT Restoration Plus) for a bit different content: ruclips.net/channel/UCjjxMSJTfAR3IbCAT25-MbA
Can you renovate the box you used to hold the screws at the end of the video? I'd love to see it.
Why isn't that hand-cranked wooden handle refurbished?
Subscribed there too :)
Excellent travail. Chapeau
It's important to note that this humble little Estonian coffee grinder survived World War I, the Russian Civil War and the entire Soviet era, including World War II under Stalin. Imagine the stories it could tell us if only it could speak.
Nádhera. Rozebere všecko do hřebíčků a zase složí.
Is it possible to at least do without politics here? Why go over the names of great people if you just wanted to talk about world history?
What the hell are you talking about? They mentioned this grinder survived wars. I appreciate when others go over history of old items. Why watch videos like these if you don't care about the history of them?
@@akenjah . This is not a history channel, this is a restoration, that’s why I’m watching. What does this have to do with debates about world history? why switch to the names of world leaders on a channel about restoration? Go to the history channel and get smart there
@@akenjah During the war, President Roosevelt sold weapons to both the Russians and Nazi Germany. How many people died on earth because of him? If it weren’t for his “help,” the war would have ended much earlier and with fewer losses. He also tells me which channels I have the right to watch.
This is not just a coffe grinder, is a beautiful example of what good craftsmen can do!
It's not an easy job! I admire people who can restore things.
Especially when it has to do with coffee ! ☕
Oh, yeah.
Such a master can do a lot!
👍👍👍😀😀😀
I agree with you.
I'd have a coffee too :)
I've watched other furniture restoration channels and they just don't do as good of a job as you do...I appreciate your determination for perfection and your eye for the details... keep the videos coming...I'm hooked!❤️
Thank you for the sound of work and skill only…not talking, no music.🎉
It's like watching a magic show, voila, presto the Master of Restoration, does it again. He's a bloody magician with his craftmanship. Every detail done with such precision!
I love the patina on the brass cup. Wonderful job as usual. Thanks for sharing this with us.
PERFECT restoration. Hardly any new stuff used. That'd my fave. Use all the original stuff as much as you can. It was a neat lil grinder too.
What I appreciate about this is that it still looked like it was from the 1800’s. It’s beautiful!
The craftmanship speaks for itself in volumes. Not enough is being said about the excellent video work and editing where nothing is lost from start to finish. IOW as we say here, No BS!
You deserve that cup of coffee. You certainly worked hard enough for it. Beautiful job.
I love watching your videos where you give 'second life' to various objects ❤😊
Great job. Great to see it being taken back from the sad condition it was in to the wonderfully restored and perfectly operational piece it is now. One point though, putting a mug of coffee down without a coaster. If you were in my house I'd slap your knuckles for that one!!
This is one of my favourites. Nothing like fresh ground coffee. Thanks.
I love the refinishing on the wood, all the scars and marks and history are still there, but they enhance the warm beauty and depth that the new finish brings out. Beautiful work!!! 👏🏻
Amazing how you can take a piece of furniture n even an old coffee grinder n turn it back to its original state. It just blows my mind at how precise you are at it all. This coffee grinder is priceless.
A man never has enough braces to do the job correctly.
I love what you do. ♥️♥️♥️
😊👍👍👍
What a magnificent job you did there. Enjoyed every MINUTE! AND NO MUSIC!
Just loved this video. What a wonderful piece you found to restore. And I liked that cheeky little smile at the end. Well done. And thank you for not using music throughout the video. Much better to hear the noise of the tools and sanding. You are so skilled. I hope you have an apprentice to pass on your skills to.
I love the sound of the tools!
What an ingenious idea for cleaning the bowl along with getting it perfectly centered on lathe.
I have the greatest deal of respect for those who can fabricate which you seem to excel at. Great job!
You did an amazing restoration of a simple coffee grinder that was such an important piece of earlier days.
That was amazing to watch! You, Sir are richly blessed with this wonderful talent. 😊
Very nice Project: 👍Greetings from the Oberbergischen from Germany. Chris
This is my favorite video you’ve done - so simple and so connecting with an item we still use…beautiful! When you cleaned the bowl showing its true gold nature, my jaw just dropped! ❤
Now it’s a prized possession! Beautiful!
Word to the wise… I don’t drink coffee… but I made one I found in to a pepper grinder, been used in my kitchen now the past ten years ….best thing ever.
I had an antique coffee grinder and during one of our moves, it disappeared, which sucks. What a beautiful job you did on this!
Wow,17 minutes of quality content, you're the man !!! And is so relaxing to watch your videos !!! 👍👍👍❤❤👌👌
Hoped near the end you would grind coffee beans. Happily surprised. Such a handsome devil sipping your coffee. :) Great restoration, as always. Thank you!
Wow!!! The end result is superb.
I am very impressed with how much time you spend on even the small items. Normally if I had to buy that coffee grinder in a shop I would just buy it as an ornament or conversation piece. But with this careful restoration I would definitely want to use it for its intended purpose.
Your expertise is shown here and the results speak for themselves. Thank you once again. 🤔
I do pick up a lot of tips from you for when I or my son try to repair items at home.
Amazing! You, sir are a talented artist! I love seeing you saving these treasures!
I have one like this from my grandmother...I actually use it sometimes.
The knob you made is much prettier than the original. Just stumbled onto your videos, I like them very much!
Very satisfying to watch. Makes me want to go buy something old so I can bring it back to life. Keep them coming!
It's an interesting hobby, but it can turn into a shockingly expensive one as you realize you need more and more tools than a basic toolbox will have...
Funny I just went to Goodwill looking for something to restore. 😂
Marilyn Monroe would be a nice choice.
@@tank2045 The difference here is this guy is a professional and you aren't.
@@tank2045 risposta esatta.
Nicely done! I'm pretty sure the patina police were freaking out when you cleaned up and polished the brass LOL.
I could almost smell the coffee!!
I would buy coffee beans just to be able to use this. You do great work for. You have ALL the tools and know how to use each of them makes a big difference in my book. lol Have a wonderful day
I love it, antiques, knowing what grandparents or great grandparents used in their time. I love to watch anything restored!!
Bravo, Ahti👍👏👏👏
So cool to see you restore this right after I did my first restoration which was an old coffee grinder! love your videos
16:55 that house... Lovely.
I happened to be drinking coffee when I watched this. When ATR raised his coffee cup at the end, I raised mine to him.
Did not expect you to look that handsome 😂 great job man!
And all of the screws lined up! Very nice!
I have that exact model of grinder in my kitchen! Wish he was restoring mine 😢. Beautiful!
I loved how you made yourself a cup of coffee in the end. Good job!
Your restorations are always so precisely and beautifully completed, and such a pleasure to watch.
Thanks!
Lovely job and now you’re set for coffee if the power goes out. But seriously, everyone thinks a hand coffee grinder is cool until they use one. This is why everyone in the 19th century had one arm larger than the other. Grinding the damn coffee!
A fast way to clean brass!
Nice.
I was waiting for, "I make a new one".
Others would do this restoration with alot of filling and filing and polishing, but I actually prefer the look if this. I also really liked your solution for the brushed brass finish on the bowl.
Exactly!
Awesome job bringing it back to it’s glory! 👍🏼
I have the same one from my grandparents from Finland but smaller and it has a round lid on top. You can open the lid by sliding it to the side. Nice restoration 👍🏻
this was awesome- the actual coffee making at the end was perfection! cheers from california ☕ .
Fine work, as always. So fun to watch you use all your tools to recreate. Your endings always make me smile.
I bet that was fun. The smell alone, if you’re a coffee drinker, would have been lovely. I don’t think there is anything you can’t restore. So amazing to watch your videos and see old, broken pieces come back to life. Love your channel.
Another good job of restoration. Lots of attention to detail.
Very impressive. I have never seen your technique of using a brass brush onto heated steel to protect it. Thank you for sharing !
My grandmother had one of those in her kitchen in Cuba , it was used everyday.
trying something else than furniture that's cool 😎
Very impressive and well conceived video. Just last night I restored a Coffee Mill much like yours, except a bit smaller. I didn't have to do any carpentry as the joints were all good. I also didn't have to do any machining as all the connecting pieces were threaded. This morning I learned that my mill grinds at a slower rate than yours.
Brilliant way to polish the brass.
6:38 The condition of the wooden knob is good & it can show the history of this coffee grinder . I would clean it & use it agian if I were you.
and where do these masters of art live???
amazing work👏👏👏👍
I knew you were going to make coffee! Lol another brilliant video.
Great job! New viewer from Tennessee, USA. 😀👍
It's a beautiful piece, the box and drawer is assembled with hand-cut dovetailing
Restoration, for me ,is a form of art.
You are a great artist,Sir.
I think this man has every tool under the sun. And worked hard to acquire all of them. It calms me for some reason as he works. I love that he doesn’t talk during the clip. Or if some thing is needed to explain, he types it on the clip.
I love all your videos but this is my favorite so far. 😊
Beautiful workmanship. Brilliant product.
A pleasure to watch. Beautifully done.
Tenho ferramentas antigas do meu pai que adoraria restaurar assim.Parabéns pelo trabalho lindo . 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 from Brazil 🇧🇷
Hello from Texas, USA!! I enjoy your restorations and this one especially as I have an old coffee grinder similar to the one you restored.
I was asking to myself, does he do other restorations besides furnitures... and there it is, a new video answering my question. 😄
Whoa...stunning!
Cool project 👍 turned out fantastic. Great job.
Absolutely perfect .
You well deserved that cup of coffee!
You have the most beautiful hands in my opinion
Wonderful! Enjoy that coffee!
Beautiful restore! Thank you for sharing!
Look at you working smarter 5:46 not harder!!! This was cool video
I used to use one like that all the time.
Thank you for your video.
Clever jig for polishing the “bowl”. And the previous repair was interesting. Very nice looking (and working) result!
Great project and great video! Thank you!
WOW - you are awesome! Fabulous video of a fabulous restoration!
Wow! Just wow!
So smooth... Bravo!
I think I’ll just make my own little knob lol! That’s awesome
