The man with a 1000 g-clamps! What craftsmanship, what integrity, what an eye for detail and also a sense of humour. I could never do any thing like this, I'm in awe of your work, bravo.
Absolutely Fabulous restoration ! Came out looking like new, as strong as when it was made, and with an improved design on the chair seat. This is where Craftsmanship meets Artistry !
Gorgeous and such craftsmanship. I actually just bought this laser yesterday for my husband’s birthday. He does woodworking strictly as a hobby and I saw someone else I follow (who does woodworking/furniture restoration as hobby as well) use it, so I’m excited to give it to him. Just loving your channel, I’ve binge watched your videos this week and am in just awe at your work.
I've got one with a relief seat but it's very badly worn and barely recogniseable in some areas. The wood is stained a very dark red. My aunt wanted to get rid of the chair and gave it to me, telling me it was completely worthless. Considering she's a professional art restorer I tend to trust her.
The Thonet chair No. 14 was the first model built in the new bentwood technic (in 1850). The seat came with viennese braid. Later the seat also was built out of plywood, blank, drilled or with embossed ornament. I love the Thonet furniture. The classics as the modern ones.
Спасибо огромное. Всегда с удовольствием наблюдаю за вашей работой. Как говорится, можно бесконечно смотреть на то, как горит огонь, течет вода и как работает Человек.
Your videos are excellent and thank you for teaching me so much. I am self taught and learning. I recently restored 100 year old sash windows and thanks to your videos rebuilt sections, repaired sp.its, secured mortices. Thanks a million.
I love the design you chose for the chair seat and the lazer was fun to watch. I am curious how the patterns were originally done as I am sure they did not have lazers when the chairs were made. Thanks for showing the old catalogue of patterns that were available, I do like the one you used, great job as usual.
My guess is that they had a big iron plate with the pattern raised above the surface, and they basically used this as a big branding iron in a press to burn the pattern into the flat seat before forming it. I've seen that sort of thing done in a lot of old films where they were making furniture, boxes, or even fancy cakes where they wanted a label on it. I don't know for a fact it was done this way here, but it seems like a reasonable guess.
From Wikipedia: Autonomous sensory meridian response, sometimes auto sensory meridian response, is a tingling sensation that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia, it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson. From Oxford Languages: noun a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus, often a particular sound. "ASMR is triggered by things like whispering voices, paper tearing, and scalp massage"
Since I first saw your videos it became the most interesting way to spend my leisure time. Not only watching . I started to restore old pieces of furniture of our family. God, its so interesting! Thank you - you have changed my life. I am an amature oil painter, people say not the bad one, but restoring old things seems more interesting for me.
i have watched a few of your videos on fb video tab and you..... master mechanics and chester..... are ABSOLUTELY AWE STRUCK how you all..... manage to grab something thats broken useless and rejected...... into a brand new fresh life of being used and loved again...im going to get this wrong.... but one of you salvaged a lathe??????? UNREAL!!!!!!! thank you ALLL for every project you do on/ off camera!!!! as the saying goes your saving the planet 1 piece at a time ;];];];] im from northern maine U.S.A. ....thank you !!!!
Beautiful day. I admire your work. You have no idea how much I would like to meet you here in Slovakia. I have a chest of drawers over 100 years old from my dear old mother, it is damaged and I have no one to restore it.
Like i told you before.. i always enjoy watching your videos and learn new tips (plug drillbit with 4 cuting edges) so i say again THANK YOU for sharing 👍
I admire your work, I watch movies with great curiosity and inspiration. Soon the old bedside tables and the dressing table were renovated with a wooden mirror from before the 1st World War
That looks so beautiful once your skilled hands touched it after another's attempt at restoration. When you first showed it and I cringed when seeing the brush streaks on the seat. It is always enjoyable to watch you restore things to make them beautiful again. Thank you. 😊
8:56 These oval head screws are quite hard to find! I needed one to complete a restoration of a pair of Thonet 233 style chairs. Could only find them in stainless steel so used it on the underside where it wouldn't easily be seen, and hand coloured the head with a marker pen to match the others. Your video has given me some useful tips - thanks!
The vice grip on the screwdriver trick you used is amazing, and I can’t believe I never thought of that! My day job is signage at a zoo, and we get a lot of stuck screws, and I’m totally using that! Beautiful work!!
That is just stunning! What a beautiful piece of art, and so beautifully restored. So glad I found your channel, you are a master craftsman. Thank you!
How beautiful became the chair with that ornament on the seat! You delight us with your videos! Congratulations, it is very pleasant to watch your work!⚘
Another brilliant piece of work. Some people get start off with the intention of restoration and end up with inadvertent destruction. Thank goodness you were there to save it.
Beautiful absolutely beautiful chair. I’ve seen theses before but never with that beautiful design. You mentioned that there are many designs as you had shown. If I had of these type of chair I’d treasurer it. Your craftsman ship amazing’s me to no end. Your so precise at all you do. Like I’ve said many times. I could sit n watch you all day long. If anything I’ve learnedly is you never have enough claps. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍
The original (before) finish was similar to work done by my late uncle. A dairyman and electrician he could prep the surface, however, finishes were not his forte. Thanks for another excellent video. Narragansett Bay
Sooooo much better! You set the standard for the furniture repair and restoration I watch on RUclips. Beautiful new toy you’ve got for yourself, too. Look forward to your next job/miracle/masterpiece.
Very pretty chair! Im happy you restored it back to period appearance! It looks so much nicer!❤
I love watching these videos and seeing a real top craftsman at work.
Hahahaha cool. The classic outro music is back. It just feels wrong without that cheesy riff
It looks like an original that is in impeccable shape.
The man with a 1000 g-clamps! What craftsmanship, what integrity, what an eye for detail and also a sense of humour. I could never do any thing like this, I'm in awe of your work, bravo.
There's a saying among quilters that she who dies with the most fabric wins. I wonder if the same is true for woodworkers and clamps.
@@freethebirds3578 That would be too easy :)
I always notice the number of clamps being used! Glad I’m not the only one!

Imagine have these chairs in the dining room, and every one of them had a different one of those beautiful patterns they came in!
Absolutely Fabulous restoration ! Came out looking like new, as strong as when it was made, and

Beautiful chair-I love the design on the seat. Tested sitting down….not a single creak. 👍🏻. Excellent job-as always.
Wonderful video!! Great work. And no talking… what a treat!
I’d never seen one of these with anything but the drilled hole pattern. This ended up very lovely

Thanks for the history of the chair, I have never heard of them and appreciated the new knowledge! Great job! God bless you and yours.👏👏👏👏👏😊

Windows are good way to start as a restorer.
Excellent restoration 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing
Ahhh yes, much better than before.
What a lovely chair & that seat detail!

OMG! Amazing timing! I have two of these I need to restore and I've never attempted it before.THANK YOU!
Gorgeous! Another job very well done sir.
Also, "crunchy woodwork ASMR"- LOL Love it! 😆
What does ASMR stand for?

Das mit der Zange um den Schraubenzieher zu drehen ist ein wirklich guter Tipp für mich 😊
