It's not obvious when it works. It's obvious when it doesn't. But now that you mention it, I have very little experience in woodworking and have no trouble following what he's doing. And he rarely speaks a word during the whole process. A few little captions, and that's it. The man is obviously a master carpenter, but his videos can be followed by someone who hasn't picked up a hammer before.
@@TerryProthero I have zero abilities in woodworking either and I appreciate his expertise so much. There's another furniture restorer I try (and I emphasize try) to watch who has wonderful skills, but the man drones on & on to the point I don't care what happens to the piece of furniture.
Is there anything this gentleman can't restore? Not on camera there isn't!!! Incredible work as always Ahti, thank you so much for sharing with us. God bless always. Rev. D.
Short of a piece being put through a wood chipper, probably not. But since he's doing this professionally for clients, the cut off is likely cost rather than his ability. In some cases, it would cost more to repair the piece than it's worth. Given this man's skills, I'm guessing his hourly rate isn't cheap. This isn't the guy you bring your IKEA furniture to.
There are whole bunch of youtube craftsmen, but you are not a craftsman but an Artist (with a capital A). Your channel is criminally underrated and I try to spread the word every chance I get.
There's not much better than watching a master work with love and care. I wasn't subscribed to this second channel. I'm not sure why but I am now! Thank you for taking us along.
Beautifully restored. I have been around many tables with those type of claw feet and tripod legs. Some were just round tops, some pie crust style and others were rectangular. You do such beautiful work. I love watching you and put things right. I could watch you all day. Thanks for another great video :)
The man is an artist. He's mending all these pieces of wood together, and you think they will never match. And sure enough, they always do. All the seams disappear, and the color of the wood matches perfectly. He has to do so many things right to make that work. Otherwise, all those repairs would stick out like a sore thumb. He picks the right kind of wood, the right kind of stain, the right kind of glue, and the right kind of wood filler. And then he probably even considers the grain of the wood pieces and has to use flawless technique when applying stain, etc. He makes it look easy, but it definitely isn't.
Amazing that you could put all those fragment together like a puzzle and save this beautiful piece. Thank you for all the teaching you do. Many "flippers" do not know how to resolve such problems only staining/painting. This is why I have seen everyone of your videos, Some twice or 3 times...again thank you. Katie
Ahti, that was so badly shattered, yet you wouldn't know it. The faint transitions you had to point out, could easily have been a simple refinish, not a complete rebuild like this. Truly amazing artisanry.
i hope the moving company, which destroyed the legs, paid for the restoration rather than the owner!! as usual, your restoration is amazing. i truly wish i had your skills (yes, i have some inherited furniture that needs lots of attention).
You are a genius furniture restorer! I watch all that come up on RUclips! LOVE that u are not talking ALL the time!!! You and one other gentleman are SO skilled and interesting! (Modern ) Makeovers) ...rest BLAB on&on. Thank gou! I am a big fan!
The art and craft of the restorer is finishing a piece, and no-one knows you have been there, you have certainly achieved this level of excellence. Brilliant !!!
I'm going to follow you in all your steps and make that night table new again thank you you are one of the best repairman I've seen in RUclips thanks again
Your work is magnificent. I was fascinated by the fixing of the golden threads on the furniture leg. Lots of detail, care and art. Congratulations one more time!

I don't know about dropping it, it looks like it it was thrown around the removal van for an hour! So glad you were able to restore it, and so beautifully too.
My aunt used to have a dining table and chairs exactly like this… I recognise the feet 😆… amazing job that looked like it was totally destroyed in the beginning
Wow! This table is virtually as good as new. You did an amazing job on this one. BTW: I don't buy the story of the moving table that this table was damaged because it was dropped. Thanks for the video.

Nobody would know this had ever been damaged unless they were told to scrutinize it. Beautiful.
The owners must be very pleased with how well you repaired it. Give it a bit of time and they'll just about forget it was ever damaged. :)
Wonderful restoration!🏆🏆🏆

If you thin the epoxy with acetone, you can put on a first application that penetrates deeply into the wood. It gives the thick epoxy better adhesion.
Your knowledge of stain matching is unbelievable
Absolutely georgious.
