+burmesebeef I agree that it's mostly entertainment. There's some science, but it's all about extrapolation. They take the bare bones of science, then extrapolate the hell out of it.
+KarzolaTV I know a running back at a local college. He runs from his house to my house at full sprint and he lives 2 miles away and when he gets to my house he only breathes heavy for like 30 seconds and then he is normal. Its crazy.
+George M. I love how you're freaking out because he called you out on obviously lying because I'm guessing you've never actually ran in your life. Sprinting 2 miles at full speed is physically impossible so you were certainly lying.
Putting a car with no traction or little traction to a test like that wont get u accurate results. Look at all tht wheelspin on the car. Smh. Entertainment not science
when i was a 13, my hockey coach brought in a figure skater one practice to show us how to skate backwards, and she was way faster backwards than any of us forwards. ( i had been skating for 10 years at that point, so no excuses!) this test would have been better if it were hockey, as defence men spend most of their time skating backwards, and can skate almost as fast backwards as forwards.
shitty camera effects and added blur to deter us from how fricking slow this "average joe" is running, guess it didn't consider that the shoes grip would make a massive difference. "sign".
+Adrian Uribe Don't forget about the car going backwards and unfavorable weight transfer and the different (worse) gearing for speed in reverse. But either way, the dude running 14 mph backwards is pretty cool
@@aynakoitzjose yes teams get new fans but rarely do they get an entire fanbase. Browns fans are very loyal and done are pity or baker fans but most are loyal. The LA rams fans left the building after the super bowl and didn’t care about the team. Some fans are fair weather some fan bases are worse than others. Lions are fairly loyal. The Miami Marlins and Tampa bay rays fans are fair weather fans. Their attendance is proof year in and year out. They will go from empty stadiums to packed stadiums if they are winning. Ok so when he started he fell over He ran with his fists clenched tensing his muscles and slowing his arms. He basically broke every running rule in the book Plus this was clearly staged so he can win
Well the average guy practically fell over at the start so this wasn't really a real race. By the build up you could tell Trufant was supposed to win so it could have all been fake aswell.
lol. this show definitely has no problem with showing professional athletes on the losing side. but i wouldn't expect you to know that, since you spend all your time correcting youtube videos to make yourself feel smarter.
This is a joke. they set this up everytime to make athletes look like super machines. The guy slipped and he was pacing to make sure that marcus won, and they could have put the car on a actual road or on the field, not on a dirt track... might as well as put the car in snow or on ice
I wish the Seahawks would've kept Trufant for one more year. He would've been a Super Bowl Champion! As a Seahawks fan, I would've been so proud of him after all he's contributed to the team.
Interesting to know that they film this show at my old high school in Los Angeles. Best athletics facilities you can find, considering from what I was told, they spent 150M+ on the school and athletic facilities.
I play wide receiver and corner back for my high school and I can back pedal faster than most of my team can run forward and for conditioning one day we did what our defense couch Herder called the "Herders big 3" because he did it back in high school. It consisted or 1 a 200 yard sprint 2 a 200 yard bear crawl and 3 a 200 yard back pedal I did pretty well on the sprint and bear crawl but when we did the back pedal I finished 20 seconds before anyone else, plus a 1/4 of our team consisted of db's. It's one of the reasons why I'm the best db on the team
@Nycku007 dont know something about you, but are u an all around average guy or maybe a 22 yr old athlete at a university team sport which focus on running? but i agree to your statement: his running looked not like a sprint more like a consecutive section of falling and slipping with to much wasted motion. with regards JP4WT
i'd expect them to know that the coefficient of friction between the tire of the car and the dirt is relatively low compared to the athletes shoe and grass. And the car "peels out", that means it was slipping and not going anywhere. It could've been closer match.
They may have messed up their judgement on some parts of this but the average person sprints at like 13 mph. I have been clocked at 18-19mph in a sprint, and have raced many people. I raced a guy who out weighed me by 90lbs, but yet he beat me, this was due to his starting push which was better then mine. Even if John had cleats, he still wouldn't have beat him. He wasn't low enough to the ground on the start, nor did he have a good stride. So Marcus may indeed have won fair and square.
@Egonzal316 i find safety in my opinion one of the hardest because you have a very large responsibility as a safety i played corner for 2 years and moved to safety because im 6'3" and i find safety more challenging
actually RBs are slower than CBs but faster than receivers it has nothing to do with toughness if you've played all three positions which I assume you have based on the way you are talking.
thanks for the vid! doesnt the host slipping over at the start kinda remove any validity to the race? I mean trufant had cleats on! same thing with putting a muscle car on dirt
when you think about it, football is really the hardest sport to play because it is so easy that you have to be an incredible player to go anywhere because everyone else plays it
so the average joe can beat the corvette too? that makes me feel pretty good. I would want to see the corvette on pavement though. maybe even driving forward. and a receiver (forward) vs. corvette (forward). ps. top speed has very little to do with the first 20 yards.
The shoes don't matter because the average person (when sprinting) doesn't wear cleats, and cars are made to drive on all terrains so the dirt had no affect.
There is only one question sports science can't answer; why is Marcus Trufant wearing gloves
Fashion
aerodynamics
Practice like you play

and the fact his feet were striking on the heels not the fore foot
That wasn't an accurate test cuz he was running in the turf with cleats and the car was in the gravel with street tires so the test wasn't accurate

Shouldn't contact time be increased when going backwards?????????
I love how ropy the science is! Making out that less contact time with the ground is a bad thing?!
safer as well, running on your heels is strongly argued to be cause of lots of knee problems

Not really. A very large percentage of NFL cornerbacks are supremely arrogant.
That's the point they're supposed to get in the receivers head

i remember when i used to do this at races. i was so much faster then everyone at my school i would race some kids backwards😂
what is average joe?
Can't stop looking at that corvette tho
car had no traction
So why are you saying of course if his top speed is slower?
The shoes don't matter because the average person (when sprinting) doesn't wear cleats, and cars are made to drive on all terrains so the dirt had no affect.
congrats
