holy fuck what a machine. I ve ran a marathon in quite some heat and drank almost 2 litres in process and still almost fainted. this is ridiculous conditioning
Running on a treadmill doesn't have much to do with conditioning. The treadmill does most of the work for you, running without a treadmill is a lot harder
a marathon in heat is different to running on a treadmill and dehydrating, its different from cardio really. Boxers and MMA fighters do it all the time before weigh ins
He is a beast, To do the course two seconds faster when he was dehydrated compared to 35 seconds hydrated is amazing, Rugby is a nonstop sport, He has trained his whole life I'd say.
How about motorsports, a formula 1 driver dehydrate faster, and they must drive nonstop for atleast 90 minutes.(Modern day 305 kilometers race, winner usually finish in 90~100 minutes, if SC goes out, will be longer.)
@@soundlessbird9181 Get real! You're comparig F1 to Rugby? An F1 driver is lean with low muscle mass, the most conditioning they do is on their neck, light and focused excercise and a strict diet. Totally different animal playing Rugby.
Nuh - uhhh didn’t you hear the video man, he said Todd’s fight or flight response kicked in, and his adrenal glands kicked in realizing adrenaline increasing his power and strength and ultimately help Todd beat his time by TWO SECONDS!!!! But the MVP is H20!!!!
I disagree. Any of us sports players will say that dehydration will have an effect on our game. It didn't really have a large effect on him, but I did notice that in the first course, he caught the ball before walking on the beam. Doing it the second time, he caught it on the beam. Also, they didn't show him hitting the target the second time, so he either missed or didn't have as much accuracy. His lifting of the teammate wasn't as good either. Also, he knew the course better, because he did it once before. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, but leave your thoughts below.
max stephens I believe that what this proves is how important your mind set is!! He seemed hell bent on beating his scores from the first test. you could see he was more focused when you looked at his eyes. The mind can do amazing things when you let it
+Max Stephens Mentioned the wrong hormone, try ANP for the improvement because he was warmed up. Have had that improved phenomena happen, so long as you aren't going to aerobic exercise, expect improvement
Instead of only doing the course once each time, he should have done it several times in a row and then they should have taken the average times and compared them.
Holy shit thats impressive. Im a football fan (soccer for you americans) and Im often impressed by their physique and condition. However this guy takes that to a whole new level.
i play outdoor roller hockey in the summer, when its regularly around 90 degrees and often over 100 if you take into account the heat index. I usually take like 3-4 huge bottles of water to hydrate myself with, its crazy how much having just a few sips of water can re-energize you.
Sammy Derrick You're not Captain America like Todd Clever lol In 2015 Clever was injustly banned by Mike Tolkin ex-USA Eagles head coach, and rehabilitated in 2016 by John Mitchell the new coach of the Eagles.
I have such respect for Rugby players! I knew they were tough, but this tough? Comon, that's just insane! I would have been like a drunk man on that course after an hour in that heat, even without the treadmill nor the suit!
agreed... so much running in wrestling. this is what its like EVERY SINGLE DAY... then on top of that, 15-20 minutes non-stop live wrestling AFTER AT LEAST an hour of running. wrestling practice is no joke. best conditioned athletes in the world
Um the first run he waited to catch the pass before running on the beam, the second time he just kept going and took the pass while on the beam. But the 1 hour of running in between.... bloody amazing. And gotta say, the whole video did not help the point they were trying to make.
this rugby player is the captain of the USA national team and now i know thats not saying much but what does say a lot is that hes played for professional clubs in new zealand and south africa
@cbinsyd He's one of the best in his position in the World, he leads the 14th ranked team in the World and is constantly outplaying his opposite number, he's had man of the match performances against multiple tier 1 nations and leads his team from the front like all good captains do. He's the greatest player the United States has ever seen.
Thats why its important for athletes drink Kangen water. The micro-clustering property can hydrate the cells 10 times faster than any other (and often toxic) water
Love how this video is about being dehydrated but my dad had me practice my score like that I had to earn water breaks 4 touches with the soccer field and I had to score on fourth touch Im now used to not having water and got more durable then teammates I wouldn't recommend do it my body need more water and I didn't mean the day where I passed out , throw up felt sick I was doing all this is 90 something wether
I researched what dehydration can cause gut (stomach ache/flu) dizziness, feeling weak, fainting and vomiting loss of hearing and slowly lose vision. ive experience stomache flu then come loss of hearing and vision which makes me almost blackout but they said its not that serious u just lack of water.so don't worry.
This was cool but the only problem I have with the experiment is the number of times he went through the course. The first time he went through the course he was unfamiliar with it (unless he practiced the course beforehand or this is a typical course for rugby players, they didn't mention this so I'm concluding it was his first time) which adds time due to unfamiliarity but he was more familiar the second time which can knock off time. Interesting to know how the body reacts though.
I'm a mma fighter.. and what they don't tell you is that he woudn't get far if he did it again.. you have no stamina when you're dehydrated.. So if your form of succes is getting something done in 30 seconds, go for it :)
wow the blood thickens and the heart has to beat faster to compensate? Hes running on a treadmill so basically his heart is working like 10 times harder, this guys got some balls
Thats true it brings the factor but when playing a sport you don't just get dehydrated you get tired and it would give this test a more realistic factor.
Haha a Rugby player isn't the right athlete to use for this. Rugby players are some of the most conditioned athletes in the world. They are used to that. Rugby players play almost as long as soccer players but it evens out because rugby you tackle, you Ruck, you scrum, you play defense the whole time, you never really get a break. So rugby players are badass.
Just remember, he’s a rugby player. He’s used to nonstop play under demanding conditions. I doubt that many athletes of other sports could have done this.
As a rugby player i gotta say we play for 80 minutes in all weather hot and cold plus Todd's a pro so he could last even longer than a college or recreational player. Overall this test was unreliable.
This isn't really conclusive for JUST dehydration. It's more of dehydration and heat. I wonder if dehydration from just not drinking much water or fluids would cause different effect on a different timescale. I know I'm always dehydrated. I only drink like 40 oz of fluids a day. Mostly diet soda. I'd love to see a study on that.
Totally different dehydration, than the marathon runners get. Marathon runners, run for hours in heat, or whatever condition which makes up for the 56 minutes he ran in those blazing hot heaters whatever they're called.
Because this based on athletes ,not professional sitters. An athlete is involved in a physical sport.so running on the treadmill is similar to playing basketball or football all the way down to the klutch...sitting in a sauna is nothing like becoming dehydrated during physical sports.
In a sauna his lungs might get burnt, by running with a sauna suit, he still keeps his lungs relatively cool (in comparison to his body) It's true that he gets fatigated though
Right Naturally his times the second run should always be slower - sauna and treadmill not needed....its the 2nd+ time he's run thru the tiring obstacle course....lower slower times expected
well i mea that if you decided that being an idiot was the way to go then you are right up that ally because all athletes have certain situations where you will get dehydrated.
I think this was meant to show whether or not skill and technique could be managed while dehydrated, not if you could last through an entire rugby match while dehydrated.
I minored in sports medicine and I can tell you that this is not safe. We were told that at 5 percent of bodyweight lost the person is in serious trouble. That means hooking them to an IV. I hope people realize that this is stupid, and he immediatly went to an IV chair and got filled not only with water but electrolytes and minerals as well.
He beats his time by 2 seconds but he is much more efficient in the second run he has started walking on the beam while he catched the ball and gets out of the tunnel much much faster.
Well for one they have more padding and clothing and the helmets add a greater dehydration of the brain. While football games are not nonstop they do last much longer. And the last point is conditioning, a football players conditioning takes a backseat compared to a rugby players due to stopping starting which allows for ample rest time between plays unlike rugby.
The point is that you can't, with any certainty, suggest that dehydration was the 100% cause of the performance difference. They're other variables that were not controlled for. Todd exercising on a treadmill and then repeating the test would affect the results. Prolonged exercise could cause fatigue, regardless of dehydration. Therefore, they are unreliable - in the world of science and research. I'm a sports science student and watching these has me cringing at some of the stuff they say.
Haile Gebrselassie lost 10% of his body weight when running his 2:04 in Berlin in 2008. Its common and not dangerous because the brain regulate thirst. Its much more dangerous to overdrink. Read Waterlogged by Tim noakes.
Yea, I don’t like dehydration. I had minor dehydration and vision was blurry, the head ache was terrible and I was nauseous. I couldn’t even walk without having to throw up 😂
ok whether they fake the chair shots or not theyre still getting hit by it or thrown thru a table or off a ladder which can still hurt either way and espicially when the accidents do happen snap ur ankle like sycho sid and see if thats fake
not sure if i understand the reply but,I think athletes are more vulnerable only because of the activity increase.Oppose to a regular Joe,But technically the show is based on sports,so i guess that's why the science assumption and study was made. all in all being hydrated is all around a key factor in a healthy lifestyle so i recommend people do keep up with a balanced water intake and good diet. athlete or not.
how? the whole part of the test was to see how dehydration affects an athlete so they dehydrated him. athletes get dehydrated by running and playing their sport. seems pretty good to me.
They almost killed the guy it seems like
holy fuck what a machine. I ve ran a marathon in quite some heat and drank almost 2 litres in process and still almost fainted. this is ridiculous conditioning

Yup you nailed it

lol blistering 35 mph
Thats the part i laughed at to
It honestly seems like they are trying to kill him
exactly
I was just going to say that
z×323÷÷=÷÷3rd. We 30th. ++23de33
Hell yeah, poor guy lol
of course he would have a small improvement cause he had done it once before so he was more used to it
But he just lost 14 pounds worth of water...
+Josiah Ray that's what I thought
Not only that he also probably doesn't have as good accuracy in the second one.

i was thinking his muscles had to be warmed up from jogging for an hour

How can you run in that heat for an hour.
Cause he's not a Bitch
Rugby players are superhuman
I do 2 hours everyday, in football practice.
"he could suffer permanent brain and kidney damage"
But we`re gonna make him keep running anyway :D
i love how much they dramatize this show XD
Nigga looking like clay Matthews cousin
lmao
lol! "and then he gets thrown a blistering 35mph pass"
xDD that shit was slower than my dick get erected
I like how they explain the worst things that could happen to him and make him still do it

David Perrier maybe they invented it, but they call it football now.

Damn when I was just running for like 5 minutes (it wasn't that hot either) I became really dehydrated and I almost fainted. I couldn't even run
this man is the definition of a BEAST
