MLB player: smiling barely swinging it
Wiffle ball pitcher: YEAH YOU CANT HANG
I love how he just stands there with the whiffle ball acting like he owns the place
He was joking around and just giving a fun sports science
Plus he respected that he was a pro
@@jakedoessports4245 my fucking keyboard autocorrects to that shit so much
lol that wiffle ball pitcher was so cocky
They told him to be cocky, selling the drama
For a good reason tho the pitches were crazy
I met this guy before I played softball with him. He wasn’t unlikeable like he is in this video. He was actually pretty cool and humble. He never even told me about him being on sports science someone else had told me after he left.
When he said Ya baby you can't hang loney musta thought wtf wrong with you son
I like how they have beakers full of some science liquid when they are talking about plastic balls
I bet the guy was cut from his high school baseball team
I bet he got cut from the little league team
obsCuber tee ball
Nope just his tee ball team
Actually he played college ball for UCLA lol
How do u know?
Try the best best wiffle ball hitter vs a baseball pitcher
See that’s perfect, worlds collide evenly. They’ve each stepped in each other’s shoes
DrewBlaz ok then let’s have Barry bonds hitting.
This guy is way too cocky for being good at a game comparable to pro nerf football...
I love how after he hits it at the end the kid gets all respectful.
He acts like a bad ass but seriously it's whiffle ball you won't go anywhere in life
You can make money playing wiffel ball
Ps fuck you he's better than you are at what ever sport you play
+Alva Cassel yeah if you sell the wiffle ball and wiffle bat!
+Alva Cassel kid you don't understand how stupid you're making yourself look, everybody hates that wiffleball pitcher because he is cocky and no he actually probably sucks at every sport because he has spent all his time learning wiffleball pitches

This season, as of today, for Loney: .353 BA, second best BA in MLB behind The All-Powerful Miguel Cabrera. And he's played in all 45 games the Rays have played right now.
Best sentence is "yea baby, you cant hang" HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Man that guy is baked haha
of course it's hard to hit, it breaks four feet, he's closer by 20 feet, and the bat is half as wide. how is this comparable to the big leagues?
tomitstube he actually does the comparisons you say in the video.
Showed you. Can be up to 105mph and you seen what happened when he had a real bat. There would be no hitters.
Reading these comments I've noticed a little plastic sphere can make a lot of people very angry for some reason.
SugaryCoyote 😂😂😂😂😂😂
SugaryCoyote it’s no the little plastic sphere, it’s the kids cocky attitude lmao, use your brain smart guy.
SugaryCoyote holy god this is 4 years old
Elijah Rodbaugh/rath 5 years*
Please sub to get me to 1,000 no it was 4 years, just changed.
that pitcher reminds me of those 8th graders that think they're the shit b/c their the oldest in their elementary school...
I just loved the part where they face each other up. midget wiffle ball player vs giant baseball player
yeah but its from 42 feet away lets see that jerk throw from 60
You cant throw a whiffle ball from 60 dumbass
@@gcut24 That's the point.
We started a wiffle ball leagues in 1994. Built an awesome stadium in the back yard and had stands. Not sure if we were pioneers of the leagues, but we definately brought recognition to it!
Now lets see him try to strike him out with a normal baseball
Are you stupid lmao
Hahaha I love how Loney looks like a beast next to the host and the wiffle ball pitcher, even tho Loney's only 6'2 haha
The mlb player looks high
Actually, the pitcher in this video is now a pro at wakeboarding. That's pretty badass if you ask me.
"Hardcore world of wiffleball" cmon sports science I don't think so
You would be surprised. Go check out GSWL
i love how he rips it when he actually gets a regular size bat and more than 2 pitches to adjust to it.
Actually the pitcher was told to let up so Looney could hit it for the camera. Yes I do know. I personally know the pitcher and have interviewed him.
I think one of the key reasons (other than the movement of the ball), is the light bat. It is odd to swing with for sure.
I have a midterm tomorrow, how i ended up watching this video i'll never know
You gotta be kiddin me how did the midterm go?
Id like to know as well.
SIIIIICK!!!! I love this EPIC showdown!!!!
If he wasn't high he would have hit them better
I like how "hard" he tried to look in the beginning. Dude, its wiffleball!
It's part of the show. They alllllll do that.
The producers obviously got the pitcher to act all cocky, it's what they do on most reality-style shows. This would be a more interesting video if it wasn't all overproduced like a pro wrestling match, heavy guitars, the camera swirling around people flexing like it's an MMA weigh-in. I mean I get it that they are trying to 'make it cooler' and this was uploaded in 2009, but the video woulda been interesting enough without all the cringey shit.
Cringey indeed.
we actually pitch from 48 ft too, 42ft is hella close and we use that for our medium pitch formats
I was actully laughing when they said mlb slugger...James Loney haha. Look at him now.
I wish I could pitch like that. Thumbs up, Brutha!
is it just me or is james loney baked? look at his eyes.
"yeah baby, cant hang" haha go back to your mom's, he'll go back to his mansion
Mlb player looks blazed
@ParadiddleHeaven
absolutely. Happens all the time in shows like these.
That's friggin awesome.
thank you
@longjumperss44 True, but how pumped would you be if you threw strike after strike on a major league hitter?
I didn't even look at the comments and i was thinking the exact same thing
right, its all about how long you have to hit it. it takes the same amount of time for both of those pitches to reach the plate
Pitcher talked smack, made Loney look bad, then went outside and got in his Mom's car and went home to his basement Apt.
Sport Science should do what’s faster hockey slap shot vs floorball slap shot
Hell, the first time I threw a wiffle, I couldn't even guess the direction it was going to go.
Any kid with some weekend practice can throw a good wiffle, because the balls are made with holes and weigh a fraction of a baseball. Wiffles are designed to pick up turbulence and speed, unlike a baseball.
If you guys ever watch Joel Deroche in other videos, you'll notice how much slower he's throwing to James than in actuall tourneys.
LOL at James Loney being a rising star
They're not talking about the speed as such, but how much time the batter has to react. They stand closer in wiffle ball, so it's like trying to react to a faster ball from further away.
Also, those are some serious red eyes Loney has...
I like how he had said he lost track of his no hitters and perfect games and then 5 seconds later they cut to a scene of some dude hitting a jack.
That was him
The distance from pitcher to batter is much less for wiffle, that alone makes it harder to get a read on a pitch. And actually, wiffle can be thrown faster than a baseball (from what I've experienced). I can only barely hit 70 on my radar gun with a 5oz baseball, but reached 79 with the wiffle.
He's the best player in the world in a sport.
Yeah, he's earned at least a little of it.
did any other cubs fan like the mark grace strikeout at wrigley in the opening sequence?
I love how he acts like a badass
Wiffle ball pitcher is such a stud. What a boss!
Everything Joel did was scripted. How to stand, how to look, what to say, and how to act. It is TV! The dude is 100% the opposite of how he is portrayed on TV. The most humble, non cocky person i know.
oh a national championship in wiffle ball, thats a career to be proud of
james loney is a beast.
Oh my. He was taking it easy on him.
What I'd like to see is if you take a major league hitter and let him practice against these guys for a couple weeks. I'm guessing the results change pretty significantly.
Imagine if the baseball player got good at hitting those pitches. He'd be unstoppable at the mound.
No, a 75mph wiffle at 42 feet = A 105 mph pitch from 60 feet 6 inches. Basic math shows that from a closer distance a slower pitch still feels as fast as a 105 mph baseball fastball.
Diss it all you want, those curving pitches are cool as hell to watch.
Bro he can play wiggle ball!!!! I wish I was him😑
How do you do the camera trick at 1:50
this is so sick
"I've honestly lost count of how many no hitters and perfect games I have thrown..." Yeah while playing an obscure game that no one gives a shit about, tough guy.
The batter looks like some superhuman next to the pitcher lol
I like how that pitcher was talkin trash til they gave my man a real bat and he ripped that garbage. That was funny
I want to see that pitcher play baseball
Loney's got the ability to put up better numbers than he's shown since coming into the majors. If only he'd stop messing around with his swing and trust his hands more. Guy's a natural hitter and actually does have enough power to hit more than 20 HRs if he wanted to. Maybe he should spend some quality time dissecting footage of Garret Anderson in his prime. That's who he reminds me of the most, come to think of it...
@poppyseeds1823 I was thinking the same thing- either the whiffle ball dude is 4'10", or James Loney is like 7'6".
did anyone notice that he had his batting gloves on then at 3:39 he doesn't then back in the slow mo he does?
i could see him with girls
"what do you do?"
" I am a professional wiffle ball pitcher"
Girls walk away.
@cutegirl00179 true, but for example in golf, if it's windy, the ball can do alot more damage in the air if there's wind. Not saying glof isn't a sport, but if you want to compare, then lets compare
Wiffleball vs Baseball is like Minigolf vs Golf. If you can't play the original there is the litte version for kids and backyarders. (But pitching wiffles is sure fun)
Did they ask him to be as douchey as possible?
serious question because i've never played or watched baseball, does throwing a baseball do that?
@i8dapuszy he's used to reading pitches. wiffle balls are hard to track, so its harder to swing in the right spot. he's guessing. and like they said. its like 105mph in the MLB with all that movement. its hard
i still cant get over that wiffle ball has a championship.
Lolol. 3:35 batting gloves 3:39 no batting gloves 3:50 batting gloves again.
I don't know why there's even a comparison. It's two different worlds, wiffle ball and baseball.
Anybody else laugh when the narrator dude said "HARDCORE WORLD OF WIFFLE" Oh yeah...that's super hardcore....
That would defeat the purpose of the game these balls are plastic way light.. 60 feet it would be so slow and easy to hit
Never clicked off a zirkse video so fast
Awesome and wicked wiffle pitcher!
its nice to see his mama gave him the cy young award
im the greatest wifflier alive!!! thanks ma
not to mention why don't they compare his pitch to Nolan Ryan's Power curve? That is easiliest the Nastiest curveball EVER thrown!
"one of the best wiffle ball pitchers ever" like that title means ANYTHING anywhere
yeah baby you cant hang?:) ahahha
The best part is when the whiffle ball pitcher talks crap to a MLB player. Im sure Loney is getting the better end, buddy.
When the narrator said that they drafted one of the best wiffle ball pitchers to ever play the game I thought the kid would be like 12, not nearly as young as the guy here.
gotta say pitching in wiffle ball is really important.
pause at 3:32, looks like JAMES LONEY hit the bong before coming to the set, anybody agree hes blown here
no but thats not what they are saying, theyre saying a 75 mile per hour ball thrown from 42 feet is just as difficult to hit as a 105 mile per hour ball thrown from 60.5 feet
YEAH BABY
CAN'T HANG
Yes
Can somebody take a clip of this and put the clip of Bautista’a grand slam? Thanks
well the pitch that he got with the big bat didnt break much he basically showed some mercy on loney
