From the degenerative damage of his injury that sent him from San Diego to the Saints.. which began after his injury and trade. He played with it the entire time. He continually destroyed his arm and would use his arm as best he could, even in the end when he literally could not throw it past 15 yards. One of the best qbs to do it, with sub par teams.

Okay, archers shooting at 20 yards, especially compound bow archers (like the one they keep showing) are capable of hitting the center 100% of the time. They also shoot at smaller targets at 20 yards. This target is a 70 meter target. There have been many compound bow shooters that have shot a perfect 300 round. (A 300 round is shooting 12 rounds of 5 arrows, (60 total shots) at 20 yards, where a perfect score would equal 300 points.)

There are so many flaws with the ESPN test it is surprising it went on air without anyone noticing. 1a) As Joerg pointed out, the distances between the mats were different, both in the final test and in the test with the other footballer. 1b) The difference between 20 and 70 meters would be greatly exaggerated because of the affect of wind and any problems in the throw/shot 2) There were many Olympic archers tested, and only one athlete. 3) The athlete was allegedly at the very top of his profession, whereas there is a wide variety in skill level within Olympic athletes. 4) Even if the footballer had performed a fair test, since the skill levels are relative to each profession, it does not prove the accuracy of the weapon. 5) Similarly to the previous reason, it does not prove the accuracy because of many other factors with the athletes (such as wind speed, physical and mental preparation, distance etc). 6) In the video where they tested another athletes hit/miss ratio, they did not state his skill level, and the target he was shooting at was moving. If I were to suggest a better test for accuracy, the projectiles would be shot at the same distance with a machine indoors with equal tests on both sides, estimating > 100 tests for each to be able to conclude which one was more accurate.

The only thing that they didn't tell you is that Olympic archers shoot at around 70 yards while he shot at 20 yards. Impressive, but try shooting the same distance before going saying you are better. The drag remains relatively the same because of the small surface area by the way. *****
This was a BS test, but I think the NFL QB is more impressive than an Olympic Archer. The QB's throwing motion is more difficult than an archer's release (not as repeatable). He also has to read coverage, worry about being sacked, and hit a moving target.
In contrast, the archer can rely on advanced equipment to aid in aiming and repeating a firing motion. They've even gone as far as adding rods to increase the moment of inertia of their bows to stabilize them, which is kind of cheap.
The NFL style pure pocket passer is a rare combination of situational awareness, split second decision making, strength, and precision. Getting a very good pocket passer is difficult enough that many teams in the NCAA (and some in the NFL (e.g. 49ers and Eagles)) have switched to spread option football and dual threat QBs (less than perfect passers who can run fast and have good agility)... Sure, spread option football (also known as zone read football) offers very exciting running play, but the passing game often relies on relatively easy screen passes and isn't as reliant on the franchise QB.

notice how they didnt say anything about the distance between the target and the archer? this oaf can hit the target so accurately because he is throwing it from 20 yards (18 m). in olympic archery they shoot from 77 yards (70m).

While I totally agree that Cutler and Kap have huge arms as well, they don't have have the pure deep ball pass strength like Flacco. Dude was flicking it 75 yards plus in college. Kap has a lot of zip (velocity) but not for going deep

Wel, yeah hes a good shot with ball, but hes throwing from about 20 yards. Olympic archers shoot at 77 yards. And they get almost perfect scores in comp. matchplay, so in practice, they will probably be getting them all in the ten if not the X. Also, from 20 yards, olympic archers could get a perfect score every time on a target 1/3 that size. Also, the ball is much bigger than an arrow, so if it looks like the ball hits the ten, the centre of it probably hits the nine. It would touch about three separate rings at the same time. An arrow cant do that. If this guy could hit a target like that in the ten every single time at 77 yards, id give it to him. But he cant.

Hate and love this show because it makes a mockery of science and is made for dumb people who like Kim Kardashian but want to feel smart...
It's just such a good concept that I still watch a clip here and there even though I know almost NO ACTUAL science is happening EVEN THOUGH THEY WANT YOU TO THINK SO (which is the worst part, the deceptive nature of the creators and producers to make money and sell you vacuum cleaners).

Does this mean that I'm more accurate than an Olympic archer in spiting at an archery target if I stand like 2 inches away? Archers shoot 77 yards away, drew was throwing 20 yards away, so I can spit at whatever range I want right? This is test is not scientific at all. This show needs to focus less on editing and loud Hollywood announcer guys and more on the actual science. And it's angular velocity, not spin rate, and it would be 62.8 rad/s, not 600RPM. Come on guys, if you're going to do a science show, assume your audience like science!
