this is a really shitty comparison. trent's hand travels faster because his arm is fully extended and his hand's tangential velocity would then be much greater.. also a hundredth of a second is really insignificant. if they had multiple trials, which they should in an experiment, i bet the gunslinger would show him up across the board. because this is for tv, they sacrificed the integrity of the experiment just to show the results they wanted for entertainment purposes. also, who the fuck is trent edwards?

For example .5 seconds in drag racing is a huge difference. I also doubt you you have enough experience in football to know how fast a QB is.

I find so many flaws with this... 1.) I know his reaction begins when the light goes on but he was bouncing around waiting for the light so that could have easily been luck so why didn't they perform more than one test? 2.) No shit the quarterbacks arm is traveling at a faster speed he's throwing a fucking football at high speeds! The quarterback has to throw the ball faster than a guy can pull a gun out in order to have the ball make it to his target! So of course he going to win hand speed time. Idk i just have a hard time believing that a quarterback has a better reaction time than a person who has been actually practicing his reaction time for years...

the differenece in the hand speed is distance, one travels about a foot, the other travels in a circular motion, more time and distance to build up speed

omg 0.01 seconds faster than that gunslinger, I mean come one surely next time it will be the same result right? test it more times and get the average, 0.01 is nothing, if you do it the first time in 0.12 seconds that doesn't mean that next time you won't do it in 0.15. And above that 0.01 seconds is such a small time that the sensor sensing when he hits the target can be mistaken, That's what I hate about this show: "And amazingly 0.01 seconds faster than the gunslinger. ahh... feel much better :)

To begin with the world record is 22 one hundredths of a second...Not 27 like here, which would OBVIOUSLY mean the quick draw is quicker...But the most glaring mistake here is actually comparing the two. They did not indicate the total time it took for him to release the ball!!! These tests are a load of shit and I wish they would stop, unless John "I am a hack" Brinkus agrees to do them right!
Well of course the guns going to go off quicker. All you have to do to set off a gun pull the trigger, but the football has to go through a full throwing motion that's a lot bigger than pulling the gun up and pulling the trigger. I think the test was supposed to be about who reacts quicker, but they failed at that to. They didn't even do multiple tests.

For those wondering how the test is bad, here's one reason. Trent (the quarterback) actually had time to majorly prepare for his throw in comparison to to Howard (the gunslinger). Trent managed to get into position, step back and gets to wait for the light to flash (You can see he waits because he steps back and stops for a moment sense the light hasn't flashed yet). A quarterback does that so they can get into a throwing stance, as well as back away from the other team. If you say Trent being able to go into that stance is fair, that's the equivalent of Howard having his gun out of the holster but not aiming.
Connor Clemmons it was to see if it can be faster then the gunslinger and that's when the picket collapses and you having defenders coming in the light is the defender but u kind of make sense with how he gets ready to throw

then the gunslinger needs to have his hands away from the gun rather than right next to it.
as stated though it's supposed to be a reaction time to the other person, being shot or hit. as a QB you are not gonna be just standing there, he was acting just like he would be while in the pocket.

It would be totaly different in game. Pads have a huge affect on throwing. I play quarter back for my team and I'm amazing without pads on but I can't play that amazing with them on.

I understand what all you think, but trent edwards is both a strong and accurate QB and I would love to see him stay. The problem with him is that hes never had any protection meaning that he never expects it, thus the constant checkdowns. If he ever had a glimpse of an actual o line, he could be one of the best.

The quarterback's hand moves faster than the gunslinger because he needs the speed to make the ball travel to the destination he wants it to, in the other hand the gunslinger just needs to move his hand to adjust his gun's barrel to the target.

Your right, Alex Smith was an example of that with the Niners last year. But I think scouts get to hung up on what a guy looks like throwing a ball in shorts with no pads on. Edwards had nice arm talent but if you cant impact games at the college level you are not going to do it in the pros. There is a guy like Edwards every year and i dont think they ever pan out. Blaine Gabbert is an example of this last year. He played in a spread offense in college and his last year he had 15tds 9 ints.
