From corny horror to convoluted insults. For this list, we're counting down the best and most memorable film and TV performances from the celebrated Scottish actor, Peter Capaldi. With the Beatles, Paddington Bear and "Doctor Who" in his repertoire, this guy can do it all! And lest we forget Malcolm Tucker from "The Thick of It" - he'll be furious!

Anthony Barratt suggested Malcolm Tucker vs The Doctor - who do we think would win?
A Time Lord on a tank with a guitar or a spin doctor loaded with a barage of putdowns. There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!!!! 🤣
I remember when Peter Capaldi was announced as the next actor to play The Doctor there were many RUclips videos portraying Malcolm Tucker as The Doctor. My favourite was the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre interpretation.

WatchMojoUK the doctor would win
the doctor
The Doctor 100%
I would love to see both characters in a shouting and putdown match.
He is so underrated.....funny and talented
Anna agreed
When making a recipe for a movie or tv show, he’s almost always the condiment or garnish and hardly the key ingredient.
My favorite is when he said "Don't forget to click below to subscribe to the official Doctor Who RUclips Channel"
Joshua V. Harding same here
9: Fantastic
10: Allony h
11: Geronimo
12: Don't forgot to subscribe to the official DW channel
Yeah😂

Capaldi is really my favorite NuWho Doctor. I know he isn't well regarded as of writing, and I get that, but god is he great even so.
Nah writing is fine idk what ppl be complaining abt, some of the scripts are bad but that’s the same thing for every doctor who era, he had arguably the best charactet development of all the doctors
Of course the Doctor had to be number 1. Such a brilliant Doctor and such a brilliant actor
hello sweetie well duh that is his most famous role in Television history.
backtothefutureman1 yeah obviously. I'm just saying that it couldn't have been any other. And most famous doesn't equal best
hello sweetie yes
I disagree. Tucker should have been number one.
Mike Elliott why? Another great role of his but the Doctor is the more iconic role and Peter did some amazing acting as the Doctor, always managing to be the bright spot, even in bad episodes
His best Doctor Who moment is the Anti-War Speech from series 9 from the episode The Zygon Inversion. just absolute power and emotion.
Agreed.
With everything from Heaven Sent being a close second.
lucas dolding Heaven Sent is The Worst Episode in Television history
I swear you're in every Doctor Who related video just shitting on Moffat and especially Heaven Sent. We get it. You don't like him. No one seriously gives a fuck about your opinion and you don't need to say the same thing on every video. There's no reason to hate Moffat the amount you seem to. And just because the vast majority of Doctor Who fans can appreciate some of the best writing, directing and acting in an almost hour of television doesn't mean you have to spread your undeserved hate on something people love just because you don't like the guy who wrote the episode. It's pathetic.
JustSomeRandomGuy Online
WTF dude whats wrong with you?. You are not even a doctor who fan......
Peter and David are the best doctors!
Capaldi’s performance in The Zygon Inversion is one of the best peaces of acting I’ve ever seen
To me, Matt was the best Doctor, due to his amazing speeches, and then come David and Peter, Peter not being the best only because his first season was not as good as expected
@@raphlas8635 two words dude ONE TAKE!!!!!!!!!! Peter did the Zygon speech in ONE TAKE!! no repeats, no tuning it, one take! I'd like to see Matt or David do that! And Kate IT and Osgood was crying during it, thats how good it was! Yes, Matt's Akhaten speech belongs to him, and no one will ever be able to do it with the same heartbreaking fury, though several have tried, that is his 12th had consistent great speeches. And for me, my doctor is 4th, Tom Baker, no one will EVER compare, but not even my 4th could pull off this speech, nor should he, 4th isnt any where near old enough, or has the history to do it!
@@julieeverett7442 I didn't know that Capaldi had made this whole speech in one take, it's amazing ! But Smith stays my favorite doctor, as I said, Capaldi is brilliant in season 9 and has some of the best episodes ever (heaven sent, the Zygon Inversion, ...) but Matt Smith was consistently great, even on his very first episode, where he got one of the best ever moments of the show (the dialogue with the Atraxi), when you add to it the speeches of Akhaten and the Pandorica, River Song (even if, and I admit it, River's best episode is with Capaldi), he also has my favorite episode of the show : the 50 years anniversary.
David Tennant is overrated. He benefited from good stories and tends to grandstand. Peter Capaldi shone even with bad material. I'd also rate Matt Smith a little higher than David.
@@einezcrespo2107 Thanks for sharing
If 12 met 13:
*12 falls down the TARDIS stairs.*
13: "What's happened?"
12: "I'VE FALLEN DOWN THE FUCKEN STAIRS, YA SILLY COW!!"
XD
Yep, it's gonna happen EXACTLY like this 😂
To me, his defining role is Malcolm Tucker. An absolute pinnacle of British comedy, and manifests cynicism and ideological tit-for-tat which definitely has a place in British politics. Not to mention the greatness of the character, from his intensity, to his genius, to his reputation in Westminster, to him essentially owning and operating the Labour Party through fear and ideological purity.
The character of Malcolm Tucker is legendary, and Peter Capaldi executed it perfectly.
This is an actor with absolutely brilliant range. He's proven he can do comedy, action, drama, tragedy, villainy, heroism; sometimes all in the same role.
1:22 - Capaldi as anything...Yes, please!
have you seen his letters live, theres 2 one responding to a letter from a muslim leader, which had me on the floor laughing, it was that good, the other was a captain in ww1 sending a letter home to his family, the night of the Christmas Armitise, that had me in tears, go look them up!
His 12th Doctor role is the best by far. What I love about Capaldi is that he is so good at acting that he makes everything he's in feeling so real. Even though he's quiet popular, he's still underrated.
I absolutely love Capaldi. One of my favourite actors.
Peter Capaldi is my favorite Doctor.
*Obligatory "Peter Capaldi is simply a legend" comment*
:)
This man's acting ability is criminally underrated. He can act better with just his eyes than most actors can with their mouths.
Have you seen the video "Someone you loved" (song by his cousin, Lewis Capaldi)? less than 4 minutes and no lines! Still created a multifaceted character!
@@kathyoverton998 Yes, it's incredible!
@@kathyoverton998 Thanks for the tip. Going to look it up.
I agree. But he is very impressive at what he does with his voice as well.
3:23 Wait ... this is not my TARDIS!
Deutsche Karotte vor allem dieser Blick dazu😂
As a Matt Smith fan, it did take me a couple of episodes to get used to Peter in the role but he was an amazing Doctor and leaves behind a great legacy
It's a shame the beeb let retards write his series because he was a solid doctor
PETER IS THE BEST DOCTOR
Aaro The Wanderer. By far!
He is only seen as the best when he had finished his run. In series 10 he became the possibly the best doctor, if not the best. He is my personal favourite. He has Tom Baker inside of him but a but of John Pertwee and Matt Smith too.
No, 10 is the best.
Aaro The Wanderer yes, he bloomin' well is! #IHeartHeartTheTwelfthDoctorForever!
I would like your comment but it has 69 likes
"It's the end of the universe, it's the only time i've got"
Id met him at a con. His panel is on my channel. Peter was the most popular guest!
Thanks for putting Local Hero on the list. Unbelievable film.
John Frobisher
In my opinion the most brilliant character he has played
but the ending was so sad
Peter Capaldi is MY doctor!
Great actor ..Great Doctor...but treated badly by the BBC..
Very, very badly. I am Not happy!!!
In terms of actors to have played The Doctor, Capaldi is second best, behind Colin Baker, but ahead of Troughton.
@Spectrum Storms Colin Baker, eh? That makes a refreshing change
Seems to be the M.O. of the BBC.
That just seems to be the thing of the bbc. I wish they wouldn’t
Capaldi in the episode heaven sent is outstanding. A 50 min episode all on his acting IMPRESSIVE
Have you seen the music video of his cousin's song "Someone you loved"? Less than 4 minutes and no words! Just facial expressions! I bawls like a baby every time I watch it!
Yes! Thank you so much for posting this list! 😎
Sacha Thompson You're welcome 😁
Doctor Who and Torchwood for life!
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE PETER CAPALDI!!!!!!!!!!!
John Frobisher my favourite. Everything about it was depressing. Love it.
_John Frobisher was a good man_
I disagree with this, ethically and morally. But, he wasn't a bad man either. Yes, both ethically and morally.
OMFG!!! thank you so much 😍😍😍😍 he is just amazing in everythig!!! (you have made my day! 😃)
Thanks for doing this!
Even though capaldi is a underrated doctor. That still doesn't mean the entire fandom loves him. In my opinion, David Tennant will always be my favourite but , proformance wise, Capaldi gives everything that he has got and it shows. The Doctor really has the whole package.
My favourite moment was when he had to get through the wall by punching a material harder than diamond and he did it for 2 billion years. That is a lot of time and patience. If I could live that long I would just give up instantaneously.
Oh Peter:) Our grumpy owl
Weather he's your fav doctor or not I think he's definitely the best actor theve had to date playing the role, the man can deliver one hell of a speech!
He deserves more respect, a remarkable doctor.
Malcolm Tucker is my #1!!! Thank you for putting this list together...
Don't forget World War Z, where he played as the W.H.O. doctor.
(Definitely not a coincidence when he also played as the doctor in Doctor Who)
I searched the comments and found this. I'm watching World War Z and flipped when i saw Peter Capaldi 😂
Always the Doctor
No mention of two of my favorite roles of his: Jim in Aftersun and Mark Jenkins (Side's dad) in the first series of Skins. He's just perfect as middle aged guy having a midlife crisis and manages to be absolutely endearing while he's doing it.
Don't forget his latest, on the music video for Someone You Loved
Cry like a baby every time I watch it!
but what about: Soft Top Hard Shoulder, Hotel!,the aftersun, forty something ect what I'm basically saying is that I want you to make a part 2 desperately!!!!
I would've thought his performance in _Fortysomething_ would've made it on to the Honorable Mentions (if there were any in this particular video).
One of my favourite actors ever!!
Best doctor ever!
I viewed this but RUclips won't allow me to "Like" it?!? Love Capaldi! Love Twelve!
Thank you for including Randall Brown. I loved 'BBC's The Hour' & was gutted when it was cancelled. I don't know if others would agree with me, but I felt like 'The Hour' was an underrated BBC Drama.
If Malcom and The Doctor aren't number one and two, I'll be pissed.
EDIT: Yep they were. Twelve and Tucker are the best.
Love Capaldi, love such a brilliant actor. I like him in Mr wakefield's crusade, Soft top hard shoulder, etc, and I think you forgot The field of blood, with a short but wonderful work doing Dr Pete reciting a Dilan Thomas poem. Amazing.
Skins ???
Harvey Corbett my thoughts exactly
Was looking for this comment
I love that show
Malcolm is always #1 in my heart.
I'm so glad his role from Torchwood is here, he completely stole the show!
The best actor to play the Doctor.
well I'll dispute that but definately top three!
You forgot his powerful role in Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren.
No Angel Islington from Neverwhere?
Top 2 is maclum tucker and doctor who obviously easily his best. Understandably though he’s brilliant as both. Genuinely made both characters completely unique to him.
I just love that guy😍 and my Favorite Performances of him are Cardinal Richelieu and The Doctor he is such an amazing actor that I would love to meet one day 😊
Watch the video "Someone You Loved"! Less than 4 minutes and no lines but he manages to portray so much with just facial expressions! I bawl like a baby every time I watch it! (Lewis Capaldi is his cousin)
An absolutely faultless list! 100% agree with it!
"Right. Drama. Home. Course work. Fucking perfection. Or else."
"Why you talking in a very short sentences?"
"EMPHASIS! DRAMA! FUCK OFF!"
:D
Dear UK,
America will give you George Clooney for Peter Capaldi. To sweeten the deal, we will also give you one of the Baldwin brothers.
Dear America,
No.
Fuckity Bye!
@@kieran8584 🤣🤣🤣
@@kieran8584 :D
Never has there been anything more Scottish than Peter Capaldi playing the bagpipes.
As a casual....you guessed it..... Doctor Who fan from Southern California....USA of course, Capaldi's performance as the Twelfth Doctor is his best. And while I didn't see The Thick of It or his portrayal as the Cardinal in the Three Musketeers, ( maybe I should....) without ?..... seriously, 12 is the one role we will ALL remember him for. And for the record, he looks good, not bad for a Silver Fox.... almost 60 😃... oops a Pudding Brain moment, but all the same. Enjoyed it, thanks for posting this 🤗.
You totally left out Dr. Ronnie Pilfrey from Fortysomething though, otherwise A++ list! Peter is one versatile actor indeed!
Nobody likes Pilfrey. WAAAAAAAHHH!!!! *throwing tantrums*
and singer and artist
thanks for puting first place in the role of doctor
What about Skins?
Galactic Gaming I was gonna comment the same thing! For a bit part, he was instrumental in Syd's story.
I think that the Cardinal Richelieu should be higher on the list. He was great in "Musketeers", he makes for a wonderful antagonist.
My favourite doctor!
I LOVE YOU AND PETER THANK YOU!!!
Malcom tucker vs the 13th doctor
Anthony Barratt We'd pay to see that!
Why the 13th doctor and not the 12th doctor?
Dan 27.12 i get what you mean, but i dont know why people still try to name them by incarnation numbering. It will just confuse people. Capaldi will always be called the 12th doctor, smith the 11th, hurt the war doctor and whittaker the 13th. Etc etc
@@TokuRewinds It gets confusing when you consider that technically Capaldi's Doctor was the 12th Doctor, 13th face (with the War Doctor), 14th incarnation (with the aborted regeneration of Stolen Earth/Journey's End), cycle 2.
Great list, was hoping Vera Reynolds made the list
Malcolm Tucker is sublime. One of my favourite fictional characters.
The best doctor.
Yep. Absolutely. As if he was born to play the role. It´s a crime they wrote so many crappy episodes for him. I was furious :D.
@@caroline4323 Same
It's about TIME
How could you forget Skins?? 😱😱😱
To me he is the best doctor
Heartbreakingly brilliant in Children of Earth.
I preferred Capaldi as Richelieu than the Doctor. He had better material that enabled him to show what an amazing and charismatic actor he is. What Moffat gave him in Dr Who was an inconsistent mess, it was like the writers didn’t know what they wanted 12 to be like.
No. Frobisher is still top for me. I still don't think they would've brought him back for the 12th doctor if Torchwood hadn't had him for Mr. Frobisher first. His performance was so powerful that I've even had trouble accepting him as The Doctor because of it. I will never, ever forget it. (nor should anyone else, imo)
Hehe. Yep. I only knew him from Torchwood, when they suggested Capaldi for the Doctor, I looked him up. "Him??". He was that brilliant in Torchwood.
I MISS PETER SO MUCH
I love that man.
It's really really really good after happy birthday
Hang on no Gavin from Soft Top Hard Shoulder, Mark Jenkins from Skins or Dr Pete from Field of Blood?
They didn't mention his role in the David Suchet version of Poirot in the Wasp Nest lol :D
Please do a top 10 preformances of Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston!!
Oh yeah I bet his most famous role will be number 1
Edit: 7:44 oh who would thought
love Peter he has a doppelgänger in Victoria Australia
Wow,toller Schauspieler
matt smith is my doctor but i like peter capaldi more as the doctor.
I just can't decide whether matt smith is my doctor or Peter capaldi !
The perform in lewis capaldi someone you loved....
WatchMojo UK there's another thing that you probably didn't know about Peter Capaldi, he also voiced rabbit on the live action Winnie the Pooh movie Christopher Robin.
I believe he fairly did a great job at voicing rabbit, one of the most memorable but some people hate character of the Winnie the Pooh franchise. Especially when he originated from the original Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin AA Milne books
Cardinal deserved much better than #5, c'mon!
I feel like Capaldi's doctor was a good version of the sixth doctor
*I wonder what his number one character will be! Whose guess will actually be right?*
Capaldi is the best New Who Doctor, hands down. He took shit writing (*cough* Moffat *cough*) and made it into something great.
While his series’ were of wobbly quality and his stories tonally conflicted, his portrayal of The Doctor is probably the single best of the run. He is singularly excellent even in bad stories, though he stumbled a bit his first series. As The Doctor, I like him, a lot.
The best geek in the world
I had totally forgotten Capaldi played Frobisher in Torchwood.
I didn't even remember it was the same actor. I remember the Caecilius character was the same actor but Forbisher(sp?) was such a dramatically different character I didn't even make the connection.
@@kathyoverton998 Which only proves how brilliant he is as an actor. Happened to me as well. Had to look him up when they introduced him as the Doctor and could not imagine him playing it.
and watching Norton, discovered he is also an oscar winner
More Malcom Tucker, oh please more Malcom Tucker!!!
Malcolm tucker is my hero!
