The fact that this wonderful man wasn't nominated for a bafta for his portrayal of Doctor Who is something I'm still processing to this day. If anyone deserved that award it was him. Glad to see that he's getting the recognition he deserves.
As an avid Who fan, we know how good Peter was, and history will judge him as one of the greatest to take the role. Didn't think I'd love anyone more than Baker, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, but Capaldi went toe to toe to become a God Tier Doctor
It’s hard to see now but he was not well liked at the time as the doctor. I don’t remember why but I’m glad that he is now seen as one of the best doctors of all time
Loved him as Malcolm, he is my Doctor, 12 forever! I love his work but the way he loves his wife is just so heartwarming he loves her more then anything and you can see it so clearly
Capaldi was in a series called Field of Blood in 2011 where he plays Dr. Pete, a washed-up reporter dying from cancer, drinking himself to death. In the 2nd part of the 1st series, he's drunk in a bar and out of nowhere he begins to recite Dylan Thomas' famous poem, "And Death Shall Have No Dominion." It's an incredibly moving piece of acting and IMO Capaldi deserves a BAFTA just for that one scene.
Those titles, most of them being funny, drew a cute bashful look on Peter's face. He definitely deserves this award for all the work he's done!😊 Bravo!
@@matthewburrows4359 I have only seen him in doctor who, but it takes a damn good actor to be able to monologue for an hour or so and still have it be entertaining on the tenth watch. His performance in heaven sent is one of the best in the world.
A legend. A national treasure to Scotland. He has always had such strength on screen, taking control of whatever role he takes in such a fantastic way. Well deserved sir. 👏
Simply one of our greatest actors. I put hin uo with Hurt. Also my fav Doctor after Tom. Which is saying sonething considering how good Chris and Matt where in the role.
26:12 Done! Great job! Great entertaining speech! Great guest presenters! (JLC… iconic story.) (I can’t think of a more affectionate pet name than m’ darling wife, imagine loving and being so loved for 31 years and going)
When I first saw Peter as the Doctor I was ecstatic. I had only ever known him in Skins. But man, he really captured my attention in DW. Years later I find out that he grew up with Craig Ferguson, whom I also think is one of the funniest talk show host I've ever seen 😂 this was around the time I started doing acid (for therapy, because my ex boyfriend had tried to kill me in 2019, I resorted to mushroom and LSD therapy lol). Anyway I didn't realize Peter and Craig used to trip on psychedelics too. That made me love this man even more 😂😂😂 his vibe is just PURE from what I see on screen anyway. I never met him in person but if I ever do, I know he would be just as kind as I imagine him to be. With that said, I also was never a fan of Tennant lol 😂
@@shahani6037 I very briefly met him at a convention, and it was one of the kindest interactions I've had. Despite likely being absolutely exhausted, he brought such warmth and kindness to everyone he met. A lovely man.
I think Tennant’s a great actor, and by all accounts he’s a standup human being, but the Tenth Doctor always came across to me as a selfish, self-righteous d!ck who never really got called out for it. Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor was my favorite.

Honestly his acting in Heaven Sent alone is worthy of a BAFTA, hell that whole episode deserves one.

Such a genuinely kind, humble, and incredibly multi talented person. Not to mention the best run.
Penguin with his arse on fire ❤
Hahaha! 😂 I was about to say penguin with his arse on 🔥!!
Especially when he swears

I cant explain in words how much I love Peter Capaldi and as him the 12th Doctor. Such an amazing human being.
I think I understand I still cry over his regeneration
he deserves everything good ever

‘Music was a great success… for his second cousin’
Haha, I sometimes forget him and Lewis are actually related

Don't hog him. He is clearly an international treasure.

you forgot David....just saying
What?!?! No reference to his attack eyebrows? Shocking!
I LOVE HIM.
It's a wonderful celebration of a great actor!
What an amazing person & actor.
It’s so awesome that he was a fan of Matt beforehand 🥲 Doctor Who couldn’t have asked for a better actor
Before I watch, just wanna say: he’s a king he deserves everything
2:58 I feel he is the sexiest man in the room (the one who is surrounded by his family and has just won an award presented by two great friends)

"Peter would be in his room practicing swearing at cabinet ministers."
This helps explains the "top-class swearer" reputation, doesn't it? 😄
I love how he becomes more Scottish when surrounded by Scots.
One's Scottishness is directly proportional to the number of Scottish people around ;)
Doctor who end with him .
He was a fantastic Doctor. I wish Moffat had stayed with him until he finished though... or any other writer besides Chibnall.
Moffat left when Capaldi did, so they were together throughout Peter's tenure on Who.
Moffat and Capaldi left at the same time. Chibnall only wrote Jodie's scenes in TUAT
US has Tom Cruise, Scotland has Peter Capaldi.
Does anyone watch TV any more. A bit like valves
Wrong on so many levels. ONLY Peter Capaldi could do that farewell. Not over indulgent like the 10th .(I don't want to go )YEAH WE NOTICED..
am not sure how you mean that...i want to be on the same page as you.
