I have both 4-1/2" Black & Decker and Porter Cable angle grinders and they have holes on the top for the handle, and I noticed the Craftsman has it too, but not DeWalt. Menards Masterforce and Performax also have it. But I've noticed not all brands do. I'm with you about having it, though, because there have been situations where I've needed it on the top. Not a complete deal breaker for me, but nice to have it.
Great video, good points to, my situation is the fact I have a HD 3 miles from home and HF 12 miles from home, but I've had no issues with anything purchased from HF in the past.
Probably said it already on your cutoff sae video, but yeah Hercules corded tools are winners. I picked up the table saw and it's fantastic, when I got it I couldn't believe how well made it was, how I kept finding parts made of metal where even other name brand companies use plastic. Wouldn't hesitate to pick up another corded tool. Is there a bauer equivalent to the Milwaukee? If so are you going to do a review?
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects When you compare the Hercules to the Bauer tools there are clear improvements with the Hercules. The adjustment clasp on the wheel guard on the Hercules is slightly better feeling in the hand compared to the Bauer.
I've had 2 harbor freight angle grinders break on me. Chicago electric & the warrior brand. Both burned out in less than 1 year. So Milwaukee it is. Thanks for the review !
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects Alejo Colombia replied to one of my comments and said you can unscrew stuff and rotate the grinder body to put the switch wherever you want it and then screw it back together.
People often talk about the diameter of an angle grinder body being a big deal. The skinner ones are easier to hold on to especially with one hand. People also say the side switch is easier to use and less in the way. I do like the Milwaukee guard more but I would probably still buy the Hercules because of the switch location and the fact it's $20 cheaper. Milwaukee probably has the largest markup of any mainstream tool brand.
The body size was almost identical so I didn’t really even notice. Really quite common with every grinder I have. I’m left handed, so that might explain why I don’t mind the switch on top because it doesn’t work as well for it on the left side where my thumb is usually on the right side. I’d definitely agree with the markup comment especially on their cordless tools. I like $20 cheaper more than the warranty too.
The switch location is not big deal. Professional angle grinder manufacturers such a Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Metabo make their angle grinders so you can unscrew the gearbox and you can rotate it to the position you want so the switch position can be relocated easily that way. I like the switch on the top because there will be times when you need to change positions with the handle so you have to use different hands. The new hype is paddle switches which are safer.
@@vaguincolombia Yeah and I have always actually bought paddle switch angle grinders. I had the $20 one from harbor freight that is a blue color. It lastest for a couple years of hard use. It died, could be I just need to change brushes, and I used that as excuse to upgrade. I bought the dewalt paddle switch 11 amp angle grinder. WOW! That thing has some power! Great quality. Guard is easy to adjust. I love it. I am thinking about buying another angle grinder so I don't have to switch consumables as much. I think I might try an angle grinder with a slide switch this time. I think the switch would be nice for longer operations because you can adjust your grip without risk of it turning off.
I'm going to put up a review of the Hercules 13a vs the Milwaukee 5 inch 13a variable speed soon. Just recently got a tachometer and amp clamp to do an in depth analysis. I've had the Hercules for about a year and it's a real beast. Curious to see how the Milwaukee stacks up. Mainly wanted the variable speed ability.
If you like corded with handle you can put on the back check the craftsman one out. Has similar features to Hercules too. Watch "Unboxing New CRAFTSMAN 4-1/2” Inch ANGLE GRINDER Model #CMEG100 #ToolReview" on RUclips ruclips.net/video/GYheQcJBq_M/видео.html

Ah, make sense. Both have good stuff, I have plenty of tools from both.
Nice comparison. When you use a cutting disc you should be using a type 1 (two sided) guard on the grinder.
Naa, that's too gay

I would say the Hercules is more equivalent to the Bauer. And I will probably eventually get to reviews on all my power tools over time haha.

Apparently on Harbor Freight's website the Bauer is comparable to the Milwaukee and the Hercules is comparable to Dewalt.
@pfantasticbob harbor freight is funny haha.

I have two angle grinders and one of them is a Hercules and the other one is a makita
Everyone that has reviewed a grinder with the switch on the top hates it.
I’m left handed so that might explain why I don’t hate it. It’s in a more central spot.
