Bauer grinder from Harbor Freight review

- I've been needing a second grinder around the shop, much easier than switching back and forth on grinding discs and flap discs and wire wheels and cut discs...hmmm, sounds like I could use more than 2.....lol. Anyway, here's a review of the Bauer Right Angle Grinder from Harbor Freight. They aren't a sponsor and they didn't ask for this, so it's just one guys honest opinion on a tool that's used in the shop a lot.
Take it for what it is!

I have that grinder and have been beating on it for months. I love it. Harbor freight has come a long way.
I would agree!
Great reveiw! Its nice to see it from a fabricator who actually uses the shit out of grinders.
I agree. Been wanting to get a second one to add to the collection.
Thanks being honest
i learnt not putting the guard on ended up with stitches
buy a quick release for the disc no more hunting for the spanner
I might have to give one of those a try. I've gone through three grinders in the last year of building my 51 Ford. The last one I bought was a Porter-Cable because I thought maybe it would last a long time. It burn up quicker than the hyper tough from Walmart and the cheap Harbor Freight Chicago electric or whatever it was
Excellent review sir, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
My wife had me redo the kitchen so to save a little time I told her I needed a Sawzall we went to Harbor Freight and bought the Bauer Sawzall it works pretty damn good I was surprised but I guess any of the Bauer tools I have are pretty good I guess they do make a quality product.
Another great video 👍👍🇨🇱
Now you have 2 should get truck done faster new 1 is a lefthanded right.
😆🤣😂
i stalled my medium size dewalt one day. wound it up in my shurt when it kicked back .try to keep out of my face .i was still holden the button .said shit let off the button and un pluged it .i was under the a ford cutten off running boards
I did that myself once I thought I had just gutted myself but I got lucky and it was just my hoodie
Ford. Hmmm
I've heard that you can grease the gears and get more life out of those grinders. Thanks for demonstrating the incorrect way to cut metal at the end. That'll leave a mark.
I'm left handed so it's great for me. Thanks
Picked one of these up for $25 on sale. Wish i bought 6.
That would be a great deal wish I would have known I would have gotten in on that
The guard is important. Getting hit in the hip with an angle grinder when it kicks back means a nice bruise, an abrasion, and torn pants
great review. I love that you go right into the work. cuz you're right that still means shit. some of the really bargain ones have amazing stats but then they burn out in no time. real world testing is what a real review should be. and I just quoting stats without any work. great job. I'm buying one just based on this recommendation.
I'm still very happy with it and for the price it's a win win!
Hmmmm. Seems like good stuff!!!
An interesting if not perhaps scientific test. I think these things are much of a muchness. I have one which cost £16 - about 20$ and have no complaints. On the other hand I notice in the blurb above that it's an angel grinder... the mind boggles.
Bought this model yesterday in part because of your video.
30% off! 😉
30% off NICE! I hope you like it. I'm still happy with mine! HF should be giving me some kink of kick back. LOL
Picked one up for $30 today. The dewalt equivalent i use at school is $80. Ive been happy with all my bauer stuff.
Where from?
Hey Tony! Man, the opening for the head to fit the handle is basicaly square, so why not turn the head 90 degrees? It would put the air vents top and bottom,
That's a thought!
Thats probably the best grinder ive had.
Do you use Harbor Freight cut off wheels and grinder discs as well?
No
For some reason for me, if you have a Midwestern/Southern accent the more weight I give to power tool (and truck) reviews. No one wants to hear a California (my home state) accent during a power tool review. LOL.
Great review.
Are Midwest and California accents really that much different? I never really thought about it! But thanks I guess!!! 😅😅😅
I've never used one and I have it, but scared to death to use it cause I don't know how to attach the wheel securely, I'm scared it's gonna fly off and cut the shit out of me. How do you securely attach the wire/cutting wheel?!?!
I just lock it on by hand but there is a tool to tighten the nut for some attachments
@@HardCoreFab could you do a video demonstrating how to do the different types of wheels?
Is the 8 amp worth it over the 7 amp version
I can't say for sure. I chose this one for the style of handle working better for the way I use one.
How much tork I grind real hard
I haven't bogged down yet
That Would Be a little More Than I NEED For
1/25th Scale Models 😜🤪😜 LOL !!! But Thanks For Sharing n God Bless.
I can see the video now (HOW TO BUILD A ROADSTER IN 8 SECONDS) 😂😂😂😂
🤔🤔,, More Like How NOT TO BUILD A ROADSTER IN 8 SECONDS 😂🤣😂🤣
Just bought one for home use. Mine didn’t come with a spanner tho…. Looks BRANDSPANKING new tho (05/02/22) called the store, they said spanners are Not included… Just FYI everyone
Hmm really?!?!?! I just bought a 3rd one 2 weeks ago and I got one. I don't use it but it was there!
If you notice while in the store, say this particular grinder may have different item numbers on box but it is exact same product is bcoz HF will use different suppliers/companies that decide what accessories they want to put in the box. That's why you might get a spanner and might not. If you want a spanner take grinder back and take note of your item# on your box and look for one with a different item # and open it up, you'll probably find a spanner wrench inside bcoz it came from a different supplier that adds that in as an accessory. Hope this helps 👍👍
So an interesting thing I just noticed about Bauer is they don’t have that distinguishing item no on them. However look on the square sticker on the top and it will have two numbers and a letter (18i) or (21 something), for this grinder specifically. They’re getting crafty trying to hide it. It’s also listed on the front page of manual.
To be fair, do the same test with the hundredish hour old one. 👍
That's the one I used
@@HardCoreFab Doh! My bad, right on. 👍
most of harbor freight tools are as good or better then all the high priced tools
It has gotten better with time.
That depends
Why does NO ONE in these videos use the guard? I have been trying to get that goddamn guard on for an hour. There’s a little tab on it that prevents it from going on properly and I’m ready to smash this thing.
The guard is always in the way so I have never even tried to put it on!
You will never hear the bearings in that tool, only gear noise.
There brushes are trash I can't get thru 2 trucks polishing before they burn up
I've never used one to polish but I'm going on 2 years in the Fab shop and I think I'm going to buy more for our new building
buy American
That would be great what brand is made in the 🇺🇸
@@HardCoreFab I wonder why that is
Unfortunately nearly everything is made in China now.
Assembled in USA by illegals
