- This could have been good for the price but it had several manufacturing issues like warped and bent brush guides, brush wires pinched buy the brush springs, loose spindle bevel gear that wobbled, short gearbox screws that will loosen quickly.
I go through fixing all these issues in this video and making it a grinder worth owning.
Harbor Freight 1962E-B, #57003
I had one of the semi-legendary "Chicago Electric" blue grinders they used to sell. I put a lot of hours on that thing, until one day, it decided to eject bits of its gears out of the vent slots in the gearbox, along with a cloud of smoke. I couldn't do anything but laugh. I'd gotten my money's worth.
I'm currently using a blue paddle trigger version of the CE grinder that I bought at an estate sale for $8. Its the cutoff tool in a 4 grinder lineup .
I watched more than a few Bauer 7" grinder videos. I should have watched yours first. I wouldn't have wasted so much time. Yours is the most informative. Aprreciate it.
Many years ago I bought a smaller angle grinder @ HF . The brand was "Drill Master." I tjhink that was their cheapest power tool line. It looked like a very unrefined POS and in a way it was. But there was some kind of crazy deal and it was only $5 so I figured how could i go wrong? I still have it, it still works, but I admit I don't use it for the really heavy duty stuff. But for $5 I am satisfied.
My store the discounts are almost nothing. I have the $10 special. Cooked the first one. Need to give it rest after every couple of minutes.
That's Great I have to Thank you for your attention to detail and I will fallow just what you have done to this tool and I will do the same action Thanks Max
Awesome, 40 minute video about a grinder. Amazing. I love your channel. Thank you for the video and the effort, I appreciate it. Great stuff
I have the Bauer brushless one I got off the table. It works fine. The guy told me it was never used. Opened it at the counter and brick or concrete dust plume waft out. He gave me a bit of a discount on top. That store is OK
You just saved everyone money and time
I got a super one from Amazon a rat tail 9 amp 11000 RPM 4 1/2 angle grinder looks like a Ryobi alien green serves me well for DIY home use
I have a Sioux it earned the name Man killer 45 years ago
This grinder did not work with a dust shroud. When I attached a dust shroud the cup would lock up, and wouldn't move. Had to return it. I think HF gets these tools from China, and there's no quality inspection.
Sooo what brand do you recommend?
Can definitely get to the point way faster
wow why are you out of breath? Settle down before starting a video as I like your videos
✌️
They don't call them spinning wheels of death for nothing

If we don't have money to spend keep going to HF 🎉
My brother and learned from putting a 7 inches chop saw blade on 4 1/5 grinder it explode, on piece went though a 5/8 sheet of plywood. Never did that again
Ah yes they have filled the grinder with cool-hwhip.
That's super poor fitment of that shaft, gear and key.
