    Very interesting and useful. How do you do the link to offer 10% discount to another book purchase?

    TFS. This really helped me. The only thing I wished you had added was how to fix tabs. My tabs for my paperback are fine, but when I uploaded this version to KDP, the tabs were in to far.

    Do you then use the Kindle Previewer or have you ever? For me once I preview my epub in kindle previewer, the table of contents picks up the page breaks of the front matter content and titles them as "section 1; section 2 and so forth.
    Is this something you've experienced and does it mean they appear in final upload on Amazon kdp as section?

      Yes, I end by checking everything in the Kindle Previewer inside the KDP dashboard. Mind you, I was never able to get Kindle Create to work for me, but by following the tips in the video, I was able to get them to upload successfully.

    Okay...I'm using Word 2016. Set it up as you showed. Saved it as a PDF. Uploaded and Kindle managed to combine a good number of words together that generated errors that are not in the original document. It also simply ran everything together with no page breaks and yes the manuscript contains page breaks. A bit of research indicated the document should be setup with Reflowable Text turned on. Cannot find anywhere where Reflowable text can be turned on in this version of Word. Any suggestions and can you elaborate on Reflowable Text.

      Reflowable text is automatically turned on for an eBook. Since you mentioned automatic flow, I'm assuming you are talking about an eBook. I've never uploaded a pdf as an ebook. I have uploaded a docx file and it works okay, but there are always a few "quicky spots". My advice is to go back to your Word doc and show the codes so you can see your paragraph lines, etc.
      It's always best also to use the styles rather than just adjusting the font here and there. In other words, the quickest way for you to fix this is to open the document again in Word (or Google docs) and put on your "show codes" setting. It's on the Word ribbon.
      Then set up your "normal style" to be what you want your normal to be. For example: Normal style: Font name Times New Roman, size: 11pt, .02 indent. Once this is set up, then copy each chapter and click on "Normal" from the styles box. This will unify everything. It will take time as it is safest to do it chapter by chapter.
      Let me know if this works. I think doing a video on how to set up the styles gallery would be a good video for me to make! Thanks for commenting!

      @@chrissis111 Was able to fix part of it by using the Styles thing. At least the run-together word errors are no longer an issue. Still having issues with page breaks and paragraph spacing...Thnx for your help...I'll figure it out eventually.

    I'm trying to get my book published. Do the chapters of a book have to be in the same file? Mine are in separate files.

    • @chrissis111
      @chrissis111 6 месяцев назад

      Yes. If you are publishing on KDP, which is what Amazon is called when you are self-publishing, your entire manuscript should be in one document. The cover you will be directed to upload separately. I hope this helps! Just copy them carefully, one after the other into the same book. Make sure you use "heading 1" on all of your chapters. This is what the Table of Contents will work from.

    • @chrissis111
      @chrissis111 6 месяцев назад

      @@reddahlia35 You need to get a page count and have KDP produce a customized book cover template. I just did a video on making a paperback and hardback cover from only an ebook and I think this would be helpful to you. Here is a link to the Gimp Playlist with a lot of good information about all of this: ruclips.net/p/PLA0DlMOR9qnttVvfISLdjeg4Cbcj3umfR
