Hello Lovely ladies! I have to admit that I really liked the video and the fact it's regarding the fantastic Nature in that region. Yes,we all love the charming city life and strolls and cafes, bistro, etc.,but it's the nature and upper/hiking points that reveal those incredible views! I ve been in mountains and some walking trails in some parts of the region. Where exactly, exactly can't tell, because I was with a french person who was guiding. As you said, locals love walking in nature and mountains. I was doing those walkings in summer time 😎 It was bearable most of the time to be honest. But I'm sure its way better to do it during Spring time let's say. Still, one of my best spent moments there. The sound, the smell of nature, the green and all. It's a different type of joy. You two seems like you are enjoying hiking indeed. It suits you really well as well. I can't skip to mention the two doggies. Adorable friends. Cute like plush toys. How many hours you two usually invest in a single hike? Are you going for the hard stuff and challenging,or more like a pleasant walking in nature with food stops here and there? Did you join club or something or just its more individually planned. I also saw plenty of locals kayaking in the rivers when I was there. Even kids. Or seniors. At some points in really not easy waters. Really into nature those people. I think that's great. What is your experience with kyak? Mine is zero. Thank you for the great video. Would love to see more about your real mountain experience sometime in the future. Would be great. 😊👍

Hey, thank you so much for your nice comment! We are very much into hiking, to be honest (Anja by nature and Aila thanks to the dogs). The nature down here is what we love above all else (well, directly after the sun). We've done A LOT of hiking all over the place, a lot actually in the hinterland (moyen et haut pays), we've probably climbed almost every summit there is in this department, the Alpes-Maritimes. Well, at in the areas that allow dogs. We would really love to do a video up in the alps for you, an hour or 2 hours from the coast. There are amazing places (think of the "Vallée des Merveilles" with thousands of engravings that date back 5500 years). The only problem is that we're a little worried that most followers won't be into that... That's why we're hesitant. But it's on our list. One day...
We never joined a club or anything, but it's really easy to find your way around; there are so, so many trails, and they are all well indicated, you won't get lost. That's actually really a thing: Not sure about neighboring countries, but here in France, hiking trails are very well maintained.
If we go for a proper hike, we take a full day. We don't do super crazy hikes, maybe around 15-20 km. Depends also on the vertical meters a hike includes. No more than 1000 meters... that's when the knees and hips start complaining ;-). But hiking down here always includes vertical meters as we're in the mountains - unless you choose the coastal paths that you see in this video.
And we've done kayaking, of course! (We love all kinds of outdoor sports.) There are rental places all along the coast, and you can even kayak on the Mediterranean. Awesome are once again the Estérel Mountains, perfect to kayak around the rough coastline and reach tiny beaches that are only accessible by sea. We love kayaking from the shore in Cannes to the islands opposite of Cannes and around them. Perfect day trip.

@@rivierago😊 o wow,I didn't expect such an answer. I am truly impressed to read about your experience! That's fantastic. I am not on your level( for higher points and real high mountain experience). But I am a lover of mountains. I generally deeply appreciate nature. Its fantastic that you did so many places. I agree, the trails and signs and all are very well maintained over there. I noticed. And since you say it too with your rich experience,no space for doubts. I am not here to tell you so,but just to let you know, that in my humble opinion, you should not hesitate to make a video about the thing that you both are obviously passionate about. Just the opposite. Content creator means freedom. Freedom of expressing what you love and passionate about. I wouldn't worry about what people think. Just like me, I bet your other followers are mainly here for you and your personalities. No matter the videos. I think it will be fantastic to make a video about you being up and hiking. Not many people have the motivation or perhaps have other reasons or inability to go up in the mountains themselves,so how great will be to show those incredible views and special atmosphere. And quite different from what you ve already show so far. I personally, will be looking forward to such video. Whenever the time is right for you. Super for the kayaking! You girls are amazing. Bravo. Nothing can beat Nature and its gifts. "Knees and hips start complaining"- Funny. But yeah, I understand completely what you mean. Thank you for your great reply and provided info. I appreciate it. 👍💫⛰️

Thank you for the information, I don’t care if I am close to sea, important for me was to live without car and be close to medical care and nice and safe city.

Thank you for your video. Have you made any trips across the Italian border? We thought about visiting one of the towns just inside the border, mostly to just say we went to Italy during our French vacation. The towns that stuck out to us were Ventimiglia and Bordighera. The first town mostly because it seems some trains in France actually end in Ventiimiglia so it would be easy. We saw a YT video about Bordighera and it looked pretty nice. Do you have any experience going and, if so, do you recommend train or driving?

Hi, no haven’t yet made any videos of that side of the border. Will do some time! We regularly go to Liguria, mostly to Sanremo (riding the bike along the former train tracks). Bordighera is beautiful. Only been to Ventimiglia once a long time ago, the old town is pretty nice.
You can change trains in Ventimiglia to continue your trip. Car or train? Not sure… They had a lot of construction works going on on the motorway in Liguria lately, but since it’s not the high season yet traffic should be doable. Whichever you feel more comfortable with…

Hi,Thank you so much for detailed response. I really appreciated. I am US citizen and little bit in older age and I wish to live in southern France in my older age, Yet so confused what city? I don’t want to own car and want to be close to Dr & hospital in case, Hope not needed, yet we have to calculate these in older age& I don’t like busy cities. I lived most my life in heavy traffic, So tired of it.
I have travelled through France several times many years ago.
As you know living is different than traveling.
I like traditional look of Europe with each country of their unique costumes.
Where do you think , Is closest to what I am looking for in south of France?
I have worked for 40 years and not be working.
By the way , So glad to find you both.
Your story helped me ! Thank you very much.

Maybe Nice is not so bad for what you're looking for - because it has a bit of everything you could look for. There's traffic, yes, but it used to be worse since many locals use the tram and buses to get around nowadays. And since it's fairly small for a big city, a lot can be done on foot. Aix-en-Provence is a beautiful city, too, but it's not on the sea.

Yes, if you please I like to know why you made a decision to choose your final location , Between all locations in south of France?
It would be very much appreciated since you are expert on it now

Hi, so we live in the Western part of the Alpes-Maritimes department, 20-30 minutes off the coast - a little bit by chance, since our jobs were in the Sophia-Antipolis area. One of us has dogs, so she wanted to be outside a city, within nature. The other one used to live in Nice for many years and loved it. So it really depends on what you're looking for. City or nature? South of the motorway A8 (running through the department from west to east) there's a lot more traffic (and congestions) than north of it. But south of if, there's a lot more going on: beaches, bars, shops, bigger cites. The actual location we ended up in was a chance decision, too: we found a place to stay that we liked and were able to afford ;-)
