Nadu feels like broken feather, the redeemed in better colors and can actually win the game..
perfectly described 😅
Keep my wife's name out of your f-mouth!
When I first read this card I didn't realise it gives the ability to all creatures and I did not understand all the hype until I went back and read it again
Yeah that part made it kinda busted.
Something to note for those who didn't know, flickering nadu resets all your creatures
@@MrRockguy84 incorrect new nadu gives everything u have the new ability
@@MrRockguy84 you are just wrong. If I have an arbor elf and hit the 2 time limit and flicker Nadu I can target the elf 2 more times
@jackfruscalzo3117 it counts as a "new" nadu seeing play
Bowmasters does nothing to Nadu, Nadu doesn't draw, 'put it into your hand'. Yes, Nadu is that broken.
That was my thinking too.
Any card that says ‘fuck bowmasters’ is a winner in my book
As it counters bowmasters the downsides and benefits cancel out let the bird stay
@@__-nd5qi Nadu is very problematic for reasons relating to actually playing a game of Magic and how atrocious this card makes it. Wizards does not like 'thumb twiddling', and that's exactly what this commander creates with it's non-deterministic combo turns.
@ratdoto2148 like a thopter player or extra turn deck. Yet those still exist 🤔🤣
We did it guys, we broke displacer kitten
again! We broke it again!
I was playing with my Chulane deck a month ago and all I could think was “man 5 CMC is too much, I wish he was cheaper so I could turbo him out quicker” and it’s like the MTG gods heard my prayer.
yeah more or less.
Nadu doesn't trigger bowmasters. So while bowmaster can still be annoying it doesn't actually hurt Nadu very much.
I never said it did. But bowmaster will try and kill this.
@@cedhtv They will get two triggers if you try.
@@cedhtv For sure, I'm just not sure how successful they'll be :)
I have been brewing a budget build and here are a few considerations for other brewers. This deck is a storm deck that draws your whole deck but if you fizzle you still have 10 lands in play to storm the following turn with more resources. Flicker effects and Nadu especially 1 mana ones like essence flux are strong protection and generally good resets. Dramatic reversal lets you continue the combo and likely fine to include with or without isochron scepter. Intruder alarm combos really well with all your dorks so if you hit a patch of non-lands you can generate so much mana you can't fizzle. Umbral Mantal combos with any creature that taps for 4 or more mana so Priest of Titania, Fanatic of Rhonas, Circle of Dreams Druid all will generally work. Chatterstorm for 4 is usually mana positive while being a secondary wincon.
This card is completely broken and might catch a ban purely since even budget versions of this deck can destroy casual tables.
Me and my friends are planning on building 100 dollar "cedh" decks and I'm going to build nadu. Got any more tips!?
@@froghermit9852 buy your nadu now $15 is way to low for a card already warping modern and legacy.
Way way way too early to call for a ban.
As for budget/non-Cedh:
Try a humble auras build.
No equipments.
No tapping/untapping creatures 8x per turn cycle.
WHAT
33%
thats mental, thats genuinely insane
YES! But I think it will drop. But that is what the 21 current decks have gotten.
It's still very early. This number will drop once people figure out how to play around it.
It will drop. It's far far too early to determine a ban. We need way more data
You can actually untap the creature 9 times in a turn cycle. On the last turn you can target itself twice and then another creature.
Wow this looks really cool.
Sadly as Simic goes, I'm already on Lonis and I don't really like having multiple decks on the same color identity.
This means I must convince one of my friends to build this up !
Were in the exact same boat
It's a good thing that the ability only triggers twice in a turn, otherwise it would just be silly! Also, Field of the Dead goes in berserk this deck
Twice a turn on each creature though
@@lucaantoniociaramicoli5300 I know right? Its best to make sure it's a reasonable effect!
"Only twice" they said.
Isnt it 9 instead of 8 Card Draws per Turn cycle, because one the last opponents turn the creature targets itself twice and then f.e. nadu once.
ah yes that is true!
Let’s not even mention cards like seedborn muse💀 I shudder to imagine
On the untappers it’s 9 card draw effects because on the last one you can always do it to Nadu and just end with it tapped before your turn.
This is correct.
nanogene conversion is 4 mana and it exponentionaly increases the nadu triggers before they get doubled, with a total of 4 creatures and nanogene you get 32 nadu triggers per turn instread of 8
Chain of vapor seems like it has a lot going on in this deck, and isn't just removal. With your nadu out, it might make ancestral recall look inefficient. I wonder how many cards I've missed so far that have hidden utility on this guy.
Casual Commander will ban this card, which means banned for CEDH. This screams Paradox Engine / HullBreacher levels of salt (for casual). Although this does seem really annoying for CEDH.
It took 7 months for Hullbreacher to be banned. Lets see how long Nadu lasts.
And bolt the bird doesn't work as effective as well due to the 3/4 🫠
true!
@@cedhtv 3 mana 3/4 is actually gross
Watching some people playing with nadu online, it has some "Paradox engine" vibes, perhaps because it's not deterministic and can take a long time to triggers all the creatures and tokens (swarm//nantuko). I think casuals are going to be mad at this 🐦 lol
Yes I think this to.
Why would be non-casuals not mad at this
The reason this card over performs is a lack of removal in cedh decks. Thats about it.
Any removal will trigger Nadu to generate card advantage and getting a counterspell to hand
@@tyeklund7221 that is false, there are many removal spells that do not target
Target removal vs Nadu is not a 1-to-1 trade. They are always neutral and in their best case go plus while you go minus for attempting healthy interaction.
Non targeting removal, counter spells is your goto but the simic value pile will be filled to the brim with responses to that too.
doesn't surprise me, that card is insane
It's about time they finally made a good magic card that costs 1UG 🤭
@@smob0 yeah, lets just forget about Uro and Oko
@@jasons9895 wouldn't we all like to...
I'm really curious about:
Wordly tutor, mystical tutor, volatile stormdrake
Great analisy btw, well done m8
Might cut bolt for ghost fireslice in thrasios loop decks to be able to deal with Nadu and other 4 toughness creatures.
Most of the time it will be 1 mana anyway
I recommend ‘rending volley’ people sleep on that. It has been great for me.
You have at least 9 activations with untappers, because with the 9th activation you can target another creature.
This is actully true.
There's no way this stays unbanned.
Thx for the content. I have a better idea of what I'm up against this weekend!
Yeah I think we will see a lot of Nadu for a while.
Thank you for the video :)
Nadu will be my favourite commander.
I believe he is not be banning 😂
oh he is not going to be banned. Don't worry.
You brushed over it, but you didn't specifically verbalize this so I feel it needs mentioning. The four mana you put into walking ballista to get the nadu trigger also puts a +1/+1 counter on WB that can then immediately be removed in order to target Nadu and get another trigger. It's a little more like having Thrasios + Training Grounds than just Thrasios. Yes you have to invest 4 mana at once, but the rate is the same Thras + TG.
I also prefer the Green card in the Force of Will cycle(Bounty of the Hunt) as it is a free spell and plays better from behind than the other mass targeting spells. Which is going to be important going forward as the meta reacts to this guy. The mass targeting spells have a higher ceiling no doubt, but once you get to the point of having 5 or more creatures out with this deck, you're already in a winning spot. I just find them to be a little too much a winmore type of card. Bounty also kills Tivit in combat, a neat trick to have in your back pocket against one of the most popular decks in the format.
And check how many lands people are running. So many. Enough that if you let the bird live one turn cycle and THEN kill it, the bird will almost definitely be coming back immediately. It's kill on sight for me, even added REB to most of my red decks(The ones running Pyroblast already at least), to hedge against the popularity of this bird. Love this bird
Is equipping targeting? Like equip 0 cost for things like Lightning Greaves?
Yes
yes
WotC should just errata Nadu, Winged Wisdom to say: "This ability triggers in total no more than twice each turn."
Then it's an unplayable card lmao
What website(s) is being used to determine the win rate of Nadu decks?
edhtop16.com/?tourney_filter__size__%24gte=64&tourney_filter__dateCreated__%24gte=1659422080&colorID=null
Seems like a great commander for an Eldrazi Spawn deck
yeah.
Good luck trying to find Shuko on any mtg trading site. Also, do yall really think birdman is better than Kinnan?
I think it is better then kinnan yes.
I think its way better than kinnan its like night and day playing them on arena kinnan is much slower
If only Bolt was enough
I’m eager to try the bird in the 98 or 99; any thoughts on that or is it a card only viable as a commander?
I know he is really good in Derevi, untap your creatures and draw, he is a win outlet also.
DEREVI!
Kinnan
@@cedhtvSTOOOPP, you’re letting them cook
Hey! I got first place out of swiss on Yisan this last weekend at a 10k, would you be interested in me coming on for video on how I polotic to make it happen?
ATM no. Sorry. I have a lot of videos on the schedual. And I haven't really any plans for Yisan ATM. Maybe in the future. But I do have some plans for a mono green video kinda. Feel free to write to me on discord
micromonkey
Is my name on discord. We could talk a bit at least.
Nadu more like Nah -dude
Thats actully funny.
I may have taken all my good cards from krarkashima to build this Simic Beast. Less work on my end and still fun to play.
Could you sneak it into a kenrith or sisay deck?
card is a mistake
Removing Nadu from the board is often irrelevant. It has low cmc and often there are enough lands for them to recast it, thanks to its ability. I think countering its first cast, “bricking” it (e.g. via Oko type effects), stealing it, or removing/countering the enablers (Shuko, etc.) has more impact. That’s my limited experience against the deck. My 0.02…
why not use ur untappers as a combo piece & put illusionist's bracers on them for infinite untaps & infinite mana instead of a 7 mana hullbreaker? or mirran spy effects at 3 mana & a 1 mana banishing knack/retraction helix ( which will also have a target trigger) to infinitely bounce & replay ur mana rocks, & Nadu's trigger is better than thrasios as the lands come in untapped, nadu also never triggers bow masters as it's trigger puts the card to hand instead of specifically saying "draw"
Chi-squared test? p-value? Jeeez I feel in university xD
hahah a lot of people asked for it.
I’m wondering if this guy plays any mtgo. I’m on there just about every day playing cedh. I usually play narset
If I play on magic the gathering online? No. I don't.
Definition of a kill-on-sight commander, it’s extremely busted but the deck plays so many bad cards that do nothing without Nadu on board. Strix Serenade seems to be getting a lot of flack as a counterspell but depending on where Nadu ends up in the meta after we’ve had more time with it I think it could become a staple.
This bird is going to be an issue, and the format is going to need to adapt imo. Even removal is rough. They are in blue so they can defend themselves. Dodging OBM and land coming in untapped is just ridiculous.
If you do manage to targeted remove it, you still give them a card too. And if you try to remove it, they can counter it and still get the card. If they don't have a counterspell in hand, there's still a halfway decent chance they topdeck it and counter your removal.
Dranith or dies
One thing that probably needs to be taken in consideration is that it is a new card and people don't know how to play against it.
This is true.
Bingo
Should ban as commander but allow it to be use as one of the 99 cards.
Nadu is the reason for me, to build first deck with green in cedh :D // love the ability, the stats, great card !
And it’s in f**king simic too, that means you can play all of the simic bs like kinnan and it will just work, for no reason. Play this with field of the dead and we’re squaring up
Time to remove the stigma of MLD in casual formats
nadu nadu naduuu
That translates to "hope hope hope".
Rending volley for the win
Still gives the bird a trigger
Tishana's tidebinder is a cleaner answer but it'll probably just be a temporary roadblock
is as broken on arenas as it is in commander too btw, i kinda like it on arenas better as is hard to keep track of all the triggers lol, much recommend
It's not broken on arena lmao bridge atraxa ajani etc are better than it!
Rending volley will finally see more play
First time i saw this on the leak i already kmew its gon be broken.. not too broken due to colors but enough to be that strong
I saw people activate this twice per creature per turn.
first weekend results aside, I don't think this is here to stay. It's a 1 trick pony, once people see all you have to do is kill the commander and the 99 cant win, then it's results will crater. IMO
Yes I agree. I think it will go down to 20-25% in the end. Still kinda good for a dual colored commander tho.
You cant just kill it it gets a free trigger if you target it so it pays for its self to be recast you can try targeting its combo peaces but they are gonna get value from it not to mention it can protect them all really well
I often hear about combos that generate infinite mana and infinite card draw, but I'm a bit confused about how they work together.
If both infinite mana and infinite card draw happen simultaneously through the same interaction, and we have a limited card pool, does that mean the mana isn't actually infinite?
I understand that if we can draw our entire deck, we can find a way to generate infinite mana without decking ourselves out. However, I'm trying to understand this specific detail: If the combo provides both infinite card draw and infinite mana, but we have a limited number of cards, doesn't that mean the mana isn't truly infinite?
Usually infinite mana and draw are different parts of combos but yes you are right. In the case of Nadu, he does not draw, so that would not be a problem.
Or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries and just draw.
Mesmeric orb + seeker or alchemist + thassas. Or greaves and cephalid + thassas
what about Nadu inside of Derevi?
That sounds GREAT! Like auto include!
Such a boring card.😢
i hope everyone turns to this beak so i can make bluefarm alllllllllllllll mines lol
"bowmaster will kill this deck"
BUT IS NOT DRAW HAHAHA
but other card draw effect will attracks bowmaster towards this.
21 games isn't a very big sample size. People need to stop reinforcing the narrative to ban Nadu. How about the cedh meta shifts to interact with opponents rather than have tunnel vision and combo fever.
I was totally misreading this aaahahahahaha
Nadu should be banned in commander
Knee jerk reaction^
I actully think it is fine.
It’s OK in CEDH. It’s utterly broken as an EDH Commander.
@Dragon_Fyre nah it's broken in modern and that's it. The deck isn't meant for edh. The cards that make it busted shouldn't be played in casual. If u don't include scute, sukko greaves etc it's a fair deck
@@dylanmayabb6594 I wonder how you might prevent someone from playing certain cards in a format in which they should not be playing them… if only you could have some sort of list of those problematic cards 😂
Card is broken try 11 lands by turn 5 if your slow already seeing him combo with bone saw and scute swarm for inf tokens and card draw off that new enchantment that makes insect tokens on landfall in the same way all on mtg arena its worse than rusco clockmaker its just way to easy to combo with it should be banned i dont see how formats can remain healthy with this kind of free value existing this card is a mistake.
Yet bridge , atraxa ,ajani are all better than it. It can't hang with aggro at all and against control decks it's easy to stop if u have the removal/counter spells. Modern yes it's busted cedh and edh not so much
Orcish bowmasters does nothing to Nadu. Youre not drawing cards you’re putting them in your hand. So play it I ain’t worried.
Ban hammer incoming
I honestly don't think so. It will only get banned if casual players get tierd of it like paradox engien.
@@cedhtv u might be right. Probably just gets label as a only cEDH card and casuals just dont run it, like jewel lotus.
Cedh but thinks of untap creatures..... not the obvious 0 equip artifact.... and bowmaster wont do anything here, since it doesnt draw you a card...
Sadly 4 toughness means no bolting this bird lol
And now its dead
hahaha yes. It got banned for the reasons I thought it would.
its way too overpowered. and needs to be banned in commander.
I don't think it needs a ban. But it will dominate casual.
This narrative is toxic. We can't just keep crying when a strong card gets printed. We can put on our thinking caps and figure out a way to combat an evolving meta. Why print any new cards? If we're all just happy with our established decks that keep getting upgrades, why not upgrade our commander as well?
@@sepeterson86 it takes cards that say tap to untap target creature to draw 8 in a turn cycle. not to mention how broken it is with sylvan safekeeper or chain of vapor. the only way to deal with it is to counter it on the way down cuz trying to remove it just feeds them more cards. The card itself if toxic.
Its whats called a "Commander-reliant strategy." Counterspells and removal are the way to handle Nadu.
Most strats are commander reliant lol
After seeing this deck in play i feel like nadu is gonna get banned in edh. Its too easy to just go off and once it does the table is basically watching one person play solitaire.
It is definitely really easy to make this into a cEDH deck on budget. So I think what is happening is that casual players just accidentally makes it into a cEDH deck.
