Nice video! I play Magda too and I think the faster finisher is Altar of the Brood, once you start the loop of the infinite treasure tokens you tutor Altar, then keep creating tokens while milling all the opponents decks out, at the same time
Magda feels like a bit of an "anti-meta" deck. Since most decks' interaction is counterspells on the stack (due to thoracle and consult), her ability and win condition explicitly does not use spells on the stack. She probably gets a lot of wins since meta interaction (counterspells, silence etc) just does not work against her.
I played her in cedh back when she first released and the deck has evolved but the gameplan is the same. She's somewhat anti meta and can win at instant speed through abilities like kinnan. It's solid.
I was like sure the combos are nice but that can't be it. Yes Magda is fast but the not the fastest. The greatest strength must be put in the battlefield opposed to casting, just like zur that catches players off guard and they don't prepare against it usually only having stifle to stop such bs. But stifle don't stop Magda because you can do it again. At the best it stops the clock of omens. But that ain't a problem since you can activate the loop with whatever you have at the table.
Engineer cannot bring clock of omens back. Welder can but they will be marked for destruction anyways. I argue it's better having a sculping steel in your library than trying to use the goblins.
Also, Vengeful Tracker is just a brutal creature to use against Magda... running into it from our Duskana player :( Then he played Delney and it was RIP from there!
@@cedhtv The best part is the card draw which red lacks... or draw loop with clock of omens after making infinite treasures to win with twinshot loops through rule of law effects :)
I play Chiss-Goria as a cedh commander and it puts in a lot of work for me. I wouldn’t recommend it to others tho unless you enjoy artifact prison-style stax gameplay.
There are few combos you didn't talk about and some cards I would have liked to see! there is the battered golem combo and erriette's apple combo and one of the cards I would have liked to see is uba mask! also we have many versions of Magda now! the turbo combo. midrange and stax versions and we just got a new sub theme in excess damage tribal cauce of bottle-cap blast! also maybe the magda Discord would have helped ya make this to give more information idk.
The way I play Torpor Orb (in Magda) is a 'political' card we can tutor to stop a win/Dockside attempt. It's cheap enough to hard cast if needed (which can bait counters)
Im actually amazed that Magda's win rate is going up. Im playing her for like 1,5 year and since orcish bowmasters print its much much harder to win...
Yeah, that is a nice flaw for her... but she has gained so much power over the last couple years. No way a single card can effect her win rate more than allllll the others.
Wow, so as we get new data, Magda should move towards the Roaming Throne 25%+, as it's essentially an auto-include for all new decks! If you have a second, how does Null Rod do?
@@cedhtv Thanks! I suspect it's a real number, but partially driven by surprise factor. It's a brutal pull off Magda in a number of board states. Responding to a cast with activation-rod can function like a silence when opponents aren't expecting it as it's simply in play, meaning no chance to crack in response if they don't know it's coming. Hilariously, this can also set up your own dockside, as you can still fire off Magda activation, but no one can crack in response to the dockside to deny you. Crushing pull against Tiv, for example. It also makes you less afraid of oof matchups, as you (ofc) run lines to win through it.
Thoughts on Ruination, rather than Blood Moon/Magus? Often, Ruination in mono red, and Back to Basics in mono blue feel like auto-includes, just because of how effective they are vs multi-coloured decks, for how little they affect you. Blood moon letting them access the mana in the wrong colours is bad imo, but denying access to that mana entirely seems worth
I feel like there has to be a way to get similar results with Arcum Dagsson given the same toolbox approach, maybe not as fast but with a stronger midgame
I haven't slotted in portal yet. However I have seen it preforming very well. I also haven't lost a game due to needing portal yet. So I am personally fine off it.
@cedhtv Ive sought your advice before and i dont know how else to reach out. Ive been teying to get into cedh and ive been really enjoying Kels Fight Fixer. I built in a Thoricle line. My question is, in your opinion is Kels viable? Its a bit more expensive, but it seems to do what id expect. I want to play something new. Use a commander that isnt seen as much. Let me know please. Really respect your opinion and what you do. Thank you in advance.
Kels isen't that good sorry. Woulden't really recommend that. Korvold is a better version of this. But I guess korvold isen't new. Rather old. But you should play what you want to play. The main priority is to have fun.
It still kinda works as you can find artifacts still. just none creature. and once you go infinit you can get rid of it. But I will agree with you it is kinda strange card for magda.
Not that much. Or well you cut dockside and mana crypt. But you more or less just add more cool dwarfs and cool artifacts. Mana crypt and dockside was never key they were just good.
Nice video! I play Magda too and I think the faster finisher is Altar of the Brood, once you start the loop of the infinite treasure tokens you tutor Altar, then keep creating tokens while milling all the opponents decks out, at the same time
Its crazy that i wanted to make magda cedh for a while and last night i decided to start today...and boom your amazing video! Thank you love thw data
I literaly just finished a list a few hours ago and sent the cards i am missing to my friends

This is the power I also feel when I play sisay sometimes.
@@cedhtv was pointing out the same. The power of avoiding the stack altogether is what make them good

great show this is, i am rebuilding magda post bans- been a few years when i played it last so thanks
Glad to help!

Really great coming back to videos like this post Dockside ban. 😂
Also, Vengeful Tracker is just a brutal creature to use against Magda... running into it from our Duskana player :( Then he played Delney and it was RIP from there!
Great vid. Be aware that the One Ring doesn’t give protection when it’s not cast. Best, Lorenzo.
True but that part isen't the best part.
@@cedhtv The best part is the card draw which red lacks... or draw loop with clock of omens after making infinite treasures to win with twinshot loops through rule of law effects :)
@@Shodokan123 if you have infinite treasures, why are you even bothering to draw into anything?
I was surprised to not see a vehicle or two, but I guess that's more or less yielding the same results in any deck.

Love if people linked or commented about some deck lists with those various themes as I can't decide which version I enjoy the most.
Nice! Love Magda! ❤❤❤
Won the Path to the Peak 4 with this deck last weekend. New card everyone should be adding is Return the Favor… card is absolutely cracked.
The way I play Torpor Orb (in Magda) is a 'political' card we can tutor to stop a win/Dockside attempt. It's cheap enough to hard cast if needed (which can bait counters)
Good answer.
I built magda just casually when she came out I've even got the seven dwarves in the deck but she still feels like a cedh deck she's just so good
I mean she often feels like both. You have these big crazy artifacts you only play in casual. But she playes them in cEDH. So Strange.
@@cedhtv yeah my Wincon is keldon battlewagon and I have no problem reaching it
Im actually amazed that Magda's win rate is going up. Im playing her for like 1,5 year and since orcish bowmasters print its much much harder to win...
Yes but this is true for other commanders aswell. Tymna, najeela and kinnan don't like that either.
Yeah, that is a nice flaw for her... but she has gained so much power over the last couple years. No way a single card can effect her win rate more than allllll the others.
I'm a Magda Player, one of my favorites. Portal to Phyrexia is a beast.
I have felt it being found. It did hurt.

damn that was good. It has a winrate of 26,61% But a really low sample size. Not many have played it so not trustworty resualt.
