I'm very much looking forward to shifting into magda. I ordered a proxy version of the moxified magdanomicon list to tinker around with before I order the more expensive pieces that I'm missing.
There is no reason to play apple without welder/engineer since the primary use case was to give these haste for your combo wins. Its just a shortcut combo card at that point that's only real benefit is winning through angel's grace which is still possible on your own turn with GPS end step trigger copying, and is only relevant if it is last turn of the game. Otherwise at best its like... steal their tymna for a turn and get some card draw or something, or obm or whatever. But it is super niche situations where it is useful as a threaten.
There's no real reason to add it unless you want to replace spine of ish sah with it, so you can win through grafdigger's cage.... but that's really not necessary since you can just spine it and then do whatever. There are plenty of win-cons not ran because they don't do much outside of the win itself, and if its possible to run things that have value elsewhere then you're going to have less pseudo dead cards as they normally have some functionality outside of the win itself.
I played Magda when she first came out and loved her, topped a few tournaments with her cause people didn't understand her yet. Quit for a year and a half and just got back very recently and this guide was a godsend to catch me up on everything I missed. Fuck OBM and Op Agent man but holy fuck Roaming Throne is beautiful
There is something that I think I am missing here: When you say "activate magda and hold prio, then activate her as many times as you want", aren't your opponents still going to be able to interact on your next activations? Or you are using the prio holding to allow her to stay on the board without getting messed up, which allows you to just re-activate her ontop of whatever your opponents would throw at it since she would stay on the field?
You activate magda, you hold priority and activate her again... do this 5000 times or something. This is specifically important against decks that run stifle effects like Trickbind since even if they trickbind the last one where they now have priority to do so it will not stop the rest of them that are already on the stack and you can proceed to win anyway. If they attempt to kill magda in response you can just activate again on top of their interaction attempt and win over the top. The only exception is split second spells like Sudden Shock and at that point you just tutor out every stax piece, portal to phyrexia with a sculpting steel copy and you can then draw a majority of your deck using TOR + Clock of Omens with mana from your artifacts (including artifact lands you can tutor) to also be able to interact with opponents attempting to win... if they even can through GPS + winter moon + torpor orb etc.
Can't they interact at the start as you go to make infinite treasures before you can put multiple activations on the stack ? I'm guessing it they havnt interacted when you do your first search for the clock they won't interact afterwards?
@@justinmaynard8305 In practice if someone has trickbind they will do it on the first tutor/magda activation, but some players do try to stop you with it as a gotcha when you attempt to go for the actual win and not just have the treasures themselves. Not enough people in general are playing trickbind though.
and i dont understand part when you have 3 academy , how you get 9 treasures and not 8? if you tap creature you get 1 for magda trigger 1 for xorn that is 2 and you have 3 academy that is 3x2 =6 + that 2 from xorn and magda and that is 8 , where you find 1 more?, i miss something?
Magda + 2 = 3, Magda + 3 = 9 before xorn. Xorn applies to double the total treasures. Old image explaining it. i.ibb.co/tsRtdww/Backup-Clock.png Academy Manufactor has been removed from the deck though, so it doesn't really matter unless you personally want to run the card. Aetherdrift gives us Stridehangar Automaton on friday which wins with only a tap outlet and maskwood nexus.
@Shodokan123 ok but how xorn make dobule if card say one or more you get 1, that mean if you create 9 treasure xorn give you 1 , no matter how many trrasure you make you get 1 from xorn or? Explane pls
and pls explane to me how he get eighteen if he tap only xorn what triggers to get that many treasures Activate Magda by sacrificing five Treasures, searching your library for Academy Manufactor and putting it onto the battlefield. first of all big thanks for the deck tech by such an complex deck it really helps me to get into it better and diffrent combolines etc. rn i am building my deck more towards the Magdadosa 🪓 by jayan deck cuz it seems to be better in the pots i play in first question is this decklist i just mentioned plays and balista and for example no sniper is there a big diffrence why many people dont play balista, is it much worse because for me it seems like the only downside would be that u cant channel it like the sniper but once u have ifinte treasures/mana it doesnt makes the biggest diffrence or am i mistaken ? And second thing would be a request for a little mulligan guide of course you want your dwarfs for activations lands/mana/for early magda/stax and or artifactvehicles if possible to give ur personal opinions on opening hands how deep and what the bigest essntials are would really intrest me tbh. But i would say that would be the only thing that i would miss in your deck tech which for me is really helpfull and encourage me to to play magda more often. but thanks for the detailed guide and for all the hard work showing, explaining and prepping it in beofre hand
I don't want to go too in depth, but I'm not high on the decklist you specifically are talking about as i think it goes away from what magda does best and does not have the consistency one would normally associate with the deck. The ballista thing at instant speed requires some gimmicks to even function and is not something that can kill Grand Abolisher or Kinnan at instant speed from hand. Sniper is just higher card quality as it is uncounterable with it's channel ability and gives a win line through rule of law. I don't have mulligan guides currently due to the deck having so much variance on build types that no generic guide will function for every build.
@@Shodokan123 all good thanks for answering ik its a really complex deck and even more playstyles and diffrent wincons than any other top deck in cedh i would say. i will try out both ballista and sniper but i see your point. Have nice day and at all great work with this video
Have been watching a lot of Magda deck Tech in RUclips, this is the best one.
Thank you for all work on the mega primer and the discord community. Goated environment you guys have created ❤
Thank you for all the hard work you’ve done. This has been really helpful starting off with Magda and cEDH
Amazing level of depth!
Learning Magda and this is very helpful, thx!
thank you for this, it is great and as a new magic player who wants to get into cedh it is a great resource

Good luck with the deck, i hope it serves you well.
There will be some updates coming with aetherdrift, so just be weary of that :)
oh hey, this just popped up on my recommended. You're doing something right Shodo.
Hell yeah EDH content
Huge fan of the discord. Really good for a refresher. Question tho, no eriette's apple? I'm still loving it

@Shodokan123 I see. I'm still on welder and engineer. Everytime I think about taking them out the deck they overperform.
you can put skirk prospector for kill twinshot right? and then you can do the same combo without throne
Rly nice video! I have 1 question tho. Im new to CEDH etc.. is there a reason why u dont go for grindign station as another wincon?
