Hello, my name is Cecelia I wanted to thank you for what you do. My son and I have been in the nicu for 3 months now, and I’m happy to say his discharge day will be either tomorrow or the next day. I cannot lie the people who have helped me most are my nurses. I was so emotional and lost at first knowing nothing about what the next day was going to be like. Intubation, cpap, ram cannula, cannula, decodron, chest tubes, etc my son went through it all. I will never be able to explain the amount of respect I have for you. My two pound 29 week sick premature baby is now 7 pounds 5 oz and as healthy as possible because you. Thank you for that

I must say in my experience I fell love with all the nurses as well as doctors and yes I was that mother that was by my baby's side from morning at report time till midnight everyday for the eight days he was there. I know for sure them nurses really enjoyed and love what they did and that's the beauty of working a job when you have a heart for what you do. I know just looking at you that you really love what you do and I'm so glad God placed you in the right place at the right time. Thanks again for all you do keep up the good work.

Omg I’ve been watching your videos for years and it’s so perfect that you’ve posted this video! I was looking more into NICU nursing since I have less than a year of school left and for some reason NICU has been catching my attention a lot. I’m excited that my OB rotation is next month.
I was never interested in peds before nursing school. I thought I would just love the ICU and maybe Cardio and Oncology. But now I’m so interested in NICU. And your video was great. @@biolife3274 Just couldn’t deal with babies dying/ severely deformed sick babies due to drug addicted parents...one mother almost wanted to hurt her baby right infront of me due to inconsoable crying as she tried feeding the baby who was severely deformed due to drugs, took the baby away from her, literally shocked I never ever thought that would happen. Also I had preceptor who literally told me she hated male nurses, tried a different preceptor that was just as bad. All this literally took a toll on me, started drinking daily on my days off. Our NICU is an amazing place, literally saved my nephew’s life as he had Gastroschisis/other complications which is why I wanted to be a NICU nurse. Things happen for a reason even if they don’t go our way, thats life. I’m now working in PACU and Acute Dialysis and looove it! It was just not meant for me to be in NICU and I accepted that.

Believe it or not you checking in on those babies you may have had before helps the parents to relax a little. My son was a mirco preemie he was in the NICU 98 days. The first nurse that had him checked on him, commented on his outfits when he was big enough to wear one, she checked on me as his mom. My son is almost 14yrs old and i STILL am in contact with two of the nurses that cared for him! I can not thank them enough for what they did and the care they gave my baby boy that was so delicate at 26 weeks gestation weighing 2lbs 3ounces.

staying at a job for 2-3 years is definitely more than enough. I would say nursing is a little different than most careers (such as a corporate job--and even those people are starting to do the same thing). With nurses being able to travel, go back to school, etc., sadly this is the norm. Most people have goals in life rather than to be in the same position for 5 years. ofc there are people who choose to do this, but it is not looked down on to leave after like 2 years (at least in my experience)

It doesn't, nursing school prepares you for the NCLEX. But once you land your first job you will learn so much more and how to be an RN. I started out in a medsurg residency program, because I wasn't able to do a preceptorship in my final quarter due to covid. I felt like having that extra support and education in my residency helped me transition into the role, even though being on my own was terrifying at first. But you'll never be alone in nursing!

It’s supposed to be scary but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t push through and still do it. The on the job training you get is going to help you feel a lot more comfortable

Could you share or post your report sheet? I’ve been an RN for over a year now and recently transitioned from surgical critical care to a Level 3 NICU and am still learning and getting the hang of things only one month in.

Honestly sounds like a great time, but after signing up & paying for nurse Blake ‘nursecon’ cruise that hasn’t happened & keeps getting postponed & he keeps refusing to give refunds & with the lawsuit and all. I don’t think I’m going to sign up for third party trips.

For adult critical care level 1 is considered the most critical and level 4 is the least critical. Is it different for pediatrics? I noticed you said level 4 is the most acute.

Every time I hear NICU I'm thinking of the neural ICU haha. I work at a hospital that sees adults exclusively and a children hospital is connected to it, but I almost never have to go there.

Yes cute happy place cuddle and feed babies is important and part of the implementation/interventions for these babies to those that think that “that’s all they do” is beyond me lol it’s so pivotal fo their development the warmth, affection and love. To those that say that actually yes the babies need this attention smh lol
