2017 Ford Raptor Rock Crawl Hackett Gulch Colorado

- Trail riding Hackett Gulch near Divide, Co. I was trying to decide between it and Long water and Metburry. This is the first one to come to on the road. Really fun and it was possible to make it without body damage. The rock sliders were probably necessary though. I bent the passenger one a little somewhere. Also at the end it splits off like 3 ways. I went all the way to the left which I think maybe the hardest way to get to water? I could have drove on the small creek to an opening to turn around but wasn't sure if I was supposed to or not. So backed up to a good turn around spot. I put the mpg's on the end. That is the trip from Oklahoma to Colorado. Then I wheeled. Then reset the trip for the drive back from CO to OK.
The fact that you did a true off-road test is nice. I hate the reviews where they only do small puddles and a little dirt. This is what Ford should embrace! Not these large RUclips want to be off-road demonstrations! This I'd say is a real representation of what's out in the trails and what this truck can overcome! Great video
I like the ones where they walk around and show you all the paint and moon roof and tires and tailgate step and especially the INFOTAINMENT center!!! and never drive it at all!
instaBlaster.
If you buy a Raptor and you don't drive it like this, you wasted your money. Awesome video, awesome driving. Yeah, my wife doesn't get it, but she will come around.
Look at it's size dude. Not made for this. Can it do it yes. Way better out in the open running dunes. That's what I do with mine.
its better at desert running but it does have a rock crawl mode you know?
My gf doesn't get it either. You really want to do that with a 70k truck? Yes.
Finally a Raptor owner with serious driving skill out putting it to good use! This is epic!
Agreed! I ran my Raptor on the very same trails.

LMAO 3:27 I can't believe you left that in there!
She took it like a champ and was back on duty lickity split.
Great vid.
Crazy skills, even with all that tech, its so nice to still have a partner. One hell of a truck.
Finally a Raptor video that impresses me. Great job. Now I can think of buying one.
Glad to see someone using it for this purpose!!! Awesome.
Always look forward to your posts. Raptor handled it like a champ, thanks to your great driving. Shame the path wasn't a bit wider, had to skip the part where you scraped against the tree.
Couple of naysayers telling you not to do this in your Raptor, but plenty of people giving respect for using it for what it was built for! I have a 2010 raptor and take it all over these kinds of trails! Mad respect fellow Raptor, keep doing what you do!
That thing is built Ford tough. A little too wide for some spots there (I'm cringing) but capable enough in this environment. Have fun with it and take care on the trails.
With a slightly different line, he would have never hit that tree, the trail is passable with a raptor, it DOES get tight in spots for sure tho.
going away from the tree harmed him. that brought passenger front up the berm and leans him towards the tree. i just learned this lesson experimenting on a very similar setup recently. still a little off (also it always looks different on film so who knows) but note on the way back he's closer to the tree, more level, and not really in danger of scrape despite being closer. also doesn't have the sliding-into-it factor. either way all around good video, good truck, good teammate.
Nice job Justin! My wife has spotted for me a few times also, yours was great.
Nice job. Wow that trail has really changed. Its alot more washed out and more difficult.
Great to see someone using these vehicles for what they are designed for!
What a powerful job my friend! Thanks for sharing your amazing content! Stay strong, be positive. We all struggle sometimes... and that's ok! Never give up, great things take care! Believing in yourself is the first secret to success! Here my full support for you! ❤😊
Used to live out that way. Took my minivan with AWD as far as she would go one day. It was awesome . Lol. Love the vid. Huge balls to go alone and without a winch. Enjoy that rig ;)
Bro how the hell did you somehow manage to convince your wife to, not only, go offroading with you in your 60 thousand dollar brand new truck, but also record and spot for you!?!? I think you might be my idol lol.
they're out there! keep looking.
Some woman are really into trucks.. not all of us want a mommy car.
I love this video. I commend you for taking your Raptor off-road, bringing your lady along, and having some fun. I love people that use their toys for intended purposes (i.e- guys that track day their GT3 Porsches and drive the wheels off of them). Keep it up!
I found myself yelling at my phone trying to be your spotter lol
jacob carley 😂
I coulda used ya😅
I was doing the same thing😉.
Me too, You took a few of the same lines I virtually called out for you lol!
Lol me too 7:12 I was like “you got plenty of room, send her!”
Finally a legit off road vid with the Raptor! Would love to do this someday!
Full sized rigs on jeep trails, always some bodywork drama. :D
Nice job!
Thanks for posting this, the Raptor really does flex well for a stock truck! It's big, for sure, but if it fits it is really capable :D Looking forward to testing out mine a little more once the snow goes here this year.
First real USA off road video, congrats
I wish I lived closer I would take my raptor out with you guys.
Nice driving. My Raptor will never see that kind of action.:)
seriously considering upgrading to a raptor. your videos are great.
Dude I cringed when u scraped the tree but that was good driving love the video thanks
You sir are a hero. Would love to do this in my raptor!!!
I would never take my 70K truck off roading like that lol. However, this is the best raptor trail demo I've seen! Thanks! I'm buying one next month haha
Ford should be proud of their raptors .
Nice... I did that one too... It keeps going after you drive down the little Creek.... And it gets even harder...
I've now seen one Raptor used for what it was meant for...
More meant for sand dunes but whatevaaaaaaa lmao
You got your self a good camera man I mean woman lol that how you take you Raptor off roading awesome video
proper rock sliders - respect
Awesome trails. Good times Offroad
i wont take my wrangler desert running if you dont take your raptor on these trails. making me so nervous on some of these obstacles!
amateur
It’s amazing the video does not do this trail justice. I know how rough it actually is, before the fire.
Thanks for the video. I will not be running that in my Raptor!
WAY bigger balls with your 70k Raptor than I have with mine.
I agree!!!! I think I'll keep my 70k Avalanche baby away from harm. But I give him credit for tackling the trail...
I'm sure he can afford a 10k bumper.........I think
I wheeled Hackett, longwater and metberry in my Raptor just a few weeks ago and only kissed a rock or two with the bracket that holds my runners. (I don't even consider that "damage" as it's not even a finished piece of steel.) there are challenges, but these trails are very doable without any risk of damage. Well done sir! If you care to compare, here is a little footage of me and my Raptor on the same 3 trails in that area (including this trail).
You and me both. I've went off-roading twice with mine and now I want a cheap beater truck/suv to do more advanced trails
I got mine to look cool at malls and traffic jams. I use the RZR or KX450for my K5 for trails like this. AND my wife would EFFEN kill me if I scratched it up on a trail. I put a tiny nick in the paint when the breech of a rifle in my back pack made contact and I was so mad at myself. This guy ran out of F's to give, which is cool AF.
If those flickering lights are to warn the pilots of low-flying aircraft, you might not need them on this kind of a road. Oh! And where can I find a woman who is willing to go ahead of the truck until she finds a place from which she can slip, slide down and roll under the truck as it goes by? Seriously though, I didn't turn on the sound until 14 minutes into the video but I did appreciate that you let us here the truck instead of music.
Brave dude!
Esas carreteras son hermosas a como lo son las de mi lugar aqui en Honduras
I'm just glad it's not my Raptor.
Awesome video! Just curious, what was the mpg on the trail? Did the turbos kick in constantly?
Please do more of this!!!
That was badass. But I’m glad my truck is just a mall crawler. I don’t think I would do well on trails like that.
Bad ass video bro!
Did you cause any damage to the driver side panel with the tree? Nice riding!
Fair play buddy..... nice
You are very nice for off road.
Nicely done!
Did the easy deflators come with the truck?
Lucky guy to have such a cool wife.
wow..Ford would probably never do this
Where did you find the Diff skid plate?
awesome luv it
codsac
Does anyone make some quick disco sway bar links for the Raptor? That would be nice!
Jay P I wish. Not that I'm aware of.
You're braver than me, I wouldn't take my Raptor on that trail.
Why scratch this wonderful machine???????
Bruh, I wish Ford didn’t put independent front suspension on this truck!
He just got minor scratches. Not going to cost a lot at all but that trail is more suited for the Ram rebel because it’s not as wide as the raptor
Bad ass!
What sliders are you running?
Lee Mims they are universal weld ons off eBay. I’m pretty sure 96”
Should not have got the 4 door...the Supercab is the way to go.
Raptor is the best truck but it’s size can be a problem
Did u REALLY try to PUSH OFF the tree using your ARM? Hilarious! Didn't think u was gonna MAKE it that squeeze was pretty TIGHT. Just a few pointers alwayS drop ur spare tire and put it in the BED. Those sharp rocks could have given u a flat and u wouldn't have been able to reach it had u gotten STUCK. Also I didn't see a WINCH. Tell me u had it hidden under the hood. Great job bro.
Why are Ya running the little flashy lights?
Rooster has something to do with videoing on phone I reckon? They don't flash in real life. They may flash to fast to see and the frame rate on video picks it up? I wouldn't think they would flash if led but I noticed it right off when I first videoed mine when I first got it
Hmm. Like, you; I am puzzled why led would do that.
Could be haunted 😅
It's refresh rate of the LED's from the driver circuit that powers them. Most high power LED's do this but the rate depends if you can see it on video or not. This flashing is way to fast for the human eye to react in time so it looks like constant light in real life.
LED's flash on camera - it's to do with their refresh rate vs the cameras FPS i think.
3:27 - best reason to watch this video.
LOL...smh..messed up 😂😂
Dessert Queen Raptor.
when you have a offroad wife, everything is possible!
Truck destroyer !
A total criminal act!!!!
😱😱😱😱😱
3:25 hehe, floop.
ماشاء الله
Doing this in my F150 made me buy a Jeep
should never wheel by yourself
what if you're addicted to offroad and all of your friends got house/dog/married/kid(s) in the last 1-3 years? this used to be my policy but as we hit our thirties i needed a new method. if my 1 friend who still wheels but has a lot going on can't go i tell him what trail i'm doing. if i'm not back next day, gf alerts him, he's gotta come rescue me. i go with enough food to be there for 5 days comfortably, stretched wayyyy more if i was concerned about anything dire. bring enough stuff to make endless fires and enough blankets to keep anyone warm. i also have a heater, axes, knives, hatchets, gun, ratchet straps, 500' paracord, hats, shovel, batteries, lights, dual wall tent, 0º sleeping bag, tarp, full set of base layers, sweaters, water, beer, jackets, towels, paper towels, TP, air compressor, tire plug kit, first aid kit, shoes, boots, gloves, and film equipment.. oh and memory foam mattress inside of a insulated topper and probably 50 other things. so yes, while you SHOULDN'T go wheeling by yourself, if you're an antsy stubborn dummy like myself- you can manage your risk. there IS risk getting hurt (i try to not be "by myself" in the traditional sense, no passenger) but i have completely mitigated mechanical failure. hell i could be up there for 2 months and it'd probably be the best vacation i ever had! but in all seriousness if i'm going alone to combat the injury risk i try to pick pretty heavily trafficked areas so hopefully a random would see me. while i totally agree, i also know some people are going to do it alone. if you are, please be prepared for real. have fun!
fall @ 3:29
I'll buy your truck for 10k as is...
Dude! I respect that you are using your Raptor on this trail, but go get yourself a JEEP for that kind of driving.
Sam Wood best thing about my rig is that it's NOT a Jeep. Why be like everyone else?
No need for a jeep here, the Raptor can handle these trails JUST fine
very nice truck my favorite, but you drive like a fairy
You gotta go to Raptor Assault school so they can teach you how to do that stuff properly. You’re not even climbing correctly! You’re gonna mess up your truck pal. There is better ways to climb. Gotta left foot break
I'd love to see your how to videos pal!
Eres muy wey para manejar
This is not a Jeep and has no business on trails like this - a school bus.
Did you even watch the video? The "school bus" was fine. What are you talking about? That Raptor tore up that sissy trail.
