I'm all about the BFMC silkstone Barbies, and I expected a lot from it. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with all the dolls they have released so far. Like you said, it's not what it used to be. And why do they have to work with a budget anyways? I mean, didn't they make like millions with the success of the Barbie movie? I would prefer that they released less dolls, but better quality.

I have been holding on the last Silkstone too… also feel like not my favorite yet I kind of want her. I wish they would offer more variation on the hairstyle, too many similar “ frozen buns” 😅 She does not pop as nicely as she could on the box, I feel like they should have had a different color for the box background since the sleeves etc are the same exact shade…it gives a flat effect. Definitely cheap and not very elegant jewelry. I would have preferred something more sparkling even if shorter in length for a more classy touch…or maybe some pearls. Ahaha we are demanding 😅

I was so excited to hear that FMC dolls are back, so I could collect them for affordable price. But now my happiness is gone as Mattel doesn't ship to Lithuania. I am the most bitter Ken doll collector right now about this Movie Ken situation. While I'm glad Mattel is doing the right thing with the new Ryan face molds, I'm upset that they did Ken dirty and didn't take the time or money to do a Gosling face mold in the first place on the Ken dolls. He was literally the STAR of the movie. Did Miss Robbie get nominated for an Oscar? NO. Only Mr. Gosling. Again as a male doll collector (both meanings, I'm male and collect male dolls) now I have to buy the new Ryan dolls, along with extras, to replace and redress dolls I already paid for once. And I STILL want the smiling face mold of Ryan. They could have at least released new Perfect Day Ken with the closed mouth and roller blade with the smiling face. UGGGGHHHH!

I was really close to buying that Poison Ivy doll. I’m still on the fence. I’ve always preferred her character over Harley. Now cat woman is a battle. I always preferred Ertha Kit’s cat woman. So if cat woman isn’t represented as a culturally ambiguous character (Brown) I’d probably be disappointed. Those drawings are amazing for Brooklyn… wow. Boho Chic for me!
I'd love that Barbie would release a Rogue doll from X-Men, with big curly hair (as 90s style). I'm not very into Batman, but if I'm not wrong, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are in a love relationship in one of the last comic series (named exactly "Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy"). That's why they've been released together and why Catwoman is not in the set. Brooklyn is sooo cool, specially as she's depicted in Barbie style instagram account, so I'm so exited to see this new version. I loved the Boho Chic design, but it would be a great idea that the other outfit would be included too. Also I want to see the Tribute doll, although I think she's going to have Karl face mold and I'm not a big fan of it. Anyway, the dress looks like stunning. And the fairy, I hope she will be produced as pretty as she looks right now. The make up, specially the eyes has big 90s vibes, and the smaller waist makes her look more dinamic. I think the legs have not bendable knees, but as a playline doll, she's one of the most interesting lately. And I know it's not Barbie but, are you going to get Licca Kirby? I just got mine and I'm convinced that you need her in your pastel collection. PD: you jacket is the best!

I really enjoyed this upcoming dolls chat! Thanks Arjen. I am so glad to hear you're doing well in a very hard year for you personally. 🏵 Doll-wise we have a lot to look forward to. I am most looking forward to the Tribute to Fashion doll. Though it will probably sell out and I might not be able to get it. That beautiful drawing hints that it might be AMAZING. I love the historical dress inspired dolls as well, the more the merrier. In play line, the new hair-play doll with cat dress looks sweet. It seems to be a continuing of the line that came out this year with the two dresses, one metallic, and one was cat themed. I REALLY liked that doll. But that one had ALL pastel colored hair, so pretty, and these just have streaks. So next years look a little bit more budget cut, and less deluxe than this years. But not too bad as the second dress is silver and I love those style heels with it. And I can tweak/craft the cat dress to make it better. But this years model was definitely better straight out of the box. Also the fairy Barbie, who is definitely bringing back the Fairytopia vibe. With how great she looks in the box, you need two so you can keep one in box. I love the colors and the design of how she's presented in box, so great. And I think you're absolutely right about her body being the same as the fairy Barbie you showed. Looks the same to me. She seems like a throwback, but in all the right ways. 😊 Barbie seems to be coming back, but again, you're right, they're really missing on the plastic jewelry and not getting the Silkstone dress right. It overwhelms that doll because they didn't do the proportions and style like the sketch clearly shows. I don't understand that they could get it so right years ago when we had less good technology. And now they struggle on everything that they used to excel at? Where did all the people with the knowledge go, did they just let them go? Wish I knew the story behind that? Funny, I made a custom Wednesday a year ago, then Mattel makes one. I'm in the middle of making a Margot Robbie Harley Quinn ( just need to do make up & bat ) & now Mattel makes another Harley Quinn. I'm not super into DC comics, but the Barman franchise does have nostalgia for me growing up. Anyway, I totally pre-ordered both of these. Love them ! Hope we get cat Cat Woman !
I'm not sure what's going on, I get so confused by Mattel. Some things are cool and I get but others seem to come out of nowhere and are SOOO out there. I love that they are releasing the Gosling sculpt versions of the movie Ken dolls. It's a shame they couldn't do it in the first place though. Sorry about your mom. I lost my dad it hurts. I got that same fairytopia fairy but in pink as a gift when I was 13 from a distant cousin because I had cancer. I love dolls with fantasy hair colors. My fave doll as a kid was hula hair Barbie . I want that new fairy . Ooh I hope she has bend n click knees. I'm excited because my aunt gave me her Francie doll from the 60s and I ordered a ton of clothes for her from Temu and it arrived today.

So unless they surprise us with some changes that didn't make it to the promo pictures I don't think I will change my mind. About the silkstone, I can't put my finger on it either, something is off don't know if it is the sleeves or something got lost in the translation with her sculpting, it is hard to say, it could also be proportional ideal Barbie look is askew. I agree the DdLM Ken is a stunner, and I love her faceup. I still can't say if it is the jewelry, I find it not detailed enough missing color pop, or the dress that makes the jewelry look cheap. And the fair utopia Barbie they absolutely nailed it, I think the painting and decor of the molded bodice is what is making her look stunning. I can't wait to see which MtM Body matches. I love the hair play Barbies, can't say which one as of yet.

The Noonoouri dolls look like dolls with Rainbow High heads on Barbie bodies! I can make that myself. I saw on Instagram that the clothes and shoes will fit a Barbie according to the Mattel designers. The Silkstone is a disappointment and way overpriced. That velvet collar is paired with those sleeves is just so wrong!
I'm getting FOMO about the Noonoouri dolls, they are so my taste and I love everything about them, and a 2 pack, oh I live but I cannot afford them, that's for sure 😥
I am on the same boat with the silkstone FOMO... I don't love her. I like the sapphire one much better. I am still feeling I should buy her but I am holding off for now. There is just something that does not work for me with this girl. I just don't want Mattel to decide that it was a mistake and stop producing them.
The things I do not like about the new Barbie "Día de muertos" are what apparently was a flowery crown ...now turns to be a cheap orange shapeless loofah and her poor dress quality. The doll itself is pretty and her make up is immaculate.

i found old Animated DC Universe Barbies Batgirl and Supergirl looked garbage. Harley was OK and IVY was great! They did not even try to make IVY look like the box art fortunately made IVY the best doll in that set The new Harley and IVY here look amazing i want to buy them honesty and not just to give away as a christmas gift

I'm all about the BFMC silkstone Barbies, and I expected a lot from it. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with all the dolls they have released so far. Like you said, it's not what it used to be. And why do they have to work with a budget anyways? I mean, didn't they make like millions with the success of the Barbie movie? I would prefer that they released less dolls, but better quality.

She does not pop as nicely as she could on the box, I feel like they should have had a different color for the box background since the sleeves etc are the same exact shade…it gives a flat effect.

I am the most bitter Ken doll collector right now about this Movie Ken situation. While I'm glad Mattel is doing the right thing with the new Ryan face molds, I'm upset that they did Ken dirty and didn't take the time or money to do a Gosling face mold in the first place on the Ken dolls. He was literally the STAR of the movie. Did Miss Robbie get nominated for an Oscar? NO. Only Mr. Gosling. Again as a male doll collector (both meanings, I'm male and collect male dolls) now I have to buy the new Ryan dolls, along with extras, to replace and redress dolls I already paid for once. And I STILL want the smiling face mold of Ryan. They could have at least released new Perfect Day Ken with the closed mouth and roller blade with the smiling face. UGGGGHHHH!

I was really close to buying that Poison Ivy doll. I’m still on the fence. I’ve always preferred her character over Harley. Now cat woman is a battle. I always preferred Ertha Kit’s cat woman. I'd love that Barbie would release a Rogue doll from X-Men, with big curly hair (as 90s style). I'm not very into Batman, but if I'm not wrong, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are in a love relationship in one of the last comic series (named exactly "Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy"). That's why they've been released together and why Catwoman is not in the set.
Brooklyn is sooo cool, specially as she's depicted in Barbie style instagram account, so I'm so exited to see this new version. I loved the Boho Chic design, but it would be a great idea that the other outfit would be included too.
Also I want to see the Tribute doll, although I think she's going to have Karl face mold and I'm not a big fan of it. Anyway, the dress looks like stunning.
And the fairy, I hope she will be produced as pretty as she looks right now. The make up, specially the eyes has big 90s vibes, and the smaller waist makes her look more dinamic. I think the legs have not bendable knees, but as a playline doll, she's one of the most interesting lately.
And I know it's not Barbie but, are you going to get Licca Kirby? I just got mine and I'm convinced that you need her in your pastel collection.

Doll-wise we have a lot to look forward to. I am most looking forward to the Tribute to Fashion doll. Though it will probably sell out and I might not be able to get it. That beautiful drawing hints that it might be AMAZING. I love the historical dress inspired dolls as well, the more the merrier.
In play line, the new hair-play doll with cat dress looks sweet. It seems to be a continuing of the line that came out this year with the two dresses, one metallic, and one was cat themed. I REALLY liked that doll. But that one had ALL pastel colored hair, so pretty, and these just have streaks. So next years look a little bit more budget cut, and less deluxe than this years. But not too bad as the second dress is silver and I love those style heels with it. And I can tweak/craft the cat dress to make it better. But this years model was definitely better straight out of the box.
Also the fairy Barbie, who is definitely bringing back the Fairytopia vibe. With how great she looks in the box, you need two so you can keep one in box. I love the colors and the design of how she's presented in box, so great. And I think you're absolutely right about her body being the same as the fairy Barbie you showed. Looks the same to me. She seems like a throwback, but in all the right ways. 😊
Barbie seems to be coming back, but again, you're right, they're really missing on the plastic jewelry and not getting the Silkstone dress right. It overwhelms that doll because they didn't do the proportions and style like the sketch clearly shows. I don't understand that they could get it so right years ago when we had less good technology. And now they struggle on everything that they used to excel at? Where did all the people with the knowledge go, did they just let them go? Wish I knew the story behind that? My fave doll as a kid was hula hair Barbie . I want that new fairy . Ooh I hope she has bend n click knees. I'm excited because my aunt gave me her Francie doll from the 60s and I ordered a ton of clothes for her from Temu and it arrived today.

Oh my the dolls, I have to say we seem to think alike about the whole line-up of the coming dolls. So unless they surprise us with some changes that didn't make it to the promo pictures I don't think I will change my mind.
About the silkstone, I can't put my finger on it either, something is off don't know if it is the sleeves or something got lost in the translation with her sculpting, it is hard to say, it could also be proportional ideal Barbie look is askew. I agree the DdLM Ken is a stunner, and I love her faceup. I still can't say if it is the jewelry, I find it not detailed enough missing color pop, or the dress that makes the jewelry look cheap. And the fair utopia Barbie they absolutely nailed it, I think the painting and decor of the molded bodice is what is making her look stunning. I can't wait to see which MtM Body matches. I love the hair play Barbies, can't say which one as of yet.

The Noonoouri dolls look like dolls with Rainbow High heads on Barbie bodies! I can make that myself. I saw on Instagram that the clothes and shoes will fit a Barbie according to the Mattel designers. The Silkstone is a disappointment and way overpriced. That velvet collar is paired with those sleeves is just so wrong!

The things I do not like about the new Barbie "Día de muertos" are what apparently was a flowery crown ...now turns to be a cheap orange shapeless loofah and her poor dress quality. The doll itself is pretty and her make up is immaculate.
