  • I don't think I'm alone when I say the rain/music in Shenmue is an amazing combination. A level of tranquility and peace can be felt during these rainy days. So, I decided to take a walk. Staying only in Dobuita and going wherever the mood struck me. Absolutely love the rain turning to snow at the very end of the day! Oh and keep an eye out for a cat! We both took shelter from the rain at the same time apparently haha!
    This video is meant for enjoying the world that is Shenmue. More so an emersion into the world. Starting in the morning and ending at night in this episode.
    Just a simple walk, no real interactions with people. Seeing the sights and sounds as the world passes by.
    Why make videos like this? It's just something I've wanted to have to play in the background or just relax watching Ryo on a walk through one of my favorite video games.
    No set agenda or challenge to worry about. I hope you enjoy. Glitches/Errors/Slowdowns all included.
    I do not own the rights to this game. Should the original owner have any issues with this video please feel free to contact me so I can be in compliance.
    Footage: Shenmue/Sega Dreamcast
    Location's visited: Dobuita
    Shout out to Suka Pass! A wonderful app that has been very helpful double checking locations/ names and details I find myself in need of. If your a fan of Shenmue I highly recommend this app! Below is a link to there website and Google Play app link. They are also available on Apple products. I am not sponsored by them. I just really enjoy the work they did for a game I love!

    Notice: I just wanted to put it out there that I am not monetizing these. I was unaware that RUclips can throw a commercial on a video that is not being monetized whenever they please but apparently that is so. I wanted this to be a start to finish immersive experience but I guess they decided you need to see a commercial sometimes before the video starts.

    I do the same thing every now and then, it's indeed like an ASMR walking meditation, best at dusk. When it gets dark I sometimes stop by at Tomato's again to get something and then hurry home through the night. Say hi to kitty, go home, chat to Ine-San and Fuku, then go in my room, maybe listen to some music for a minute... switch off the light and go to bed. Yes, seriously.

      They're more than a few video games where I feel like just the general feeling of being there is a wonderful experience. I don't need anything else just to be present and that alone can make me feel content.
      Now of course some games are more chock full of goodness than others when it comes to things to do and see in relation to just walking around.
      For me personally, this series of games does that incredibly well. There's a reason I've made so many of these videos and still keep going back to make more because I just honestly do. Enjoy seeing so many elements that have made these games so everlasting and interesting in my mind.
      But I'm glad that there are people out there who are enjoying it as much as I seem to enjoy it and hearing from yourself and others that they find interesting and unique definitely makes me smile ;)
      Thanks for taking the look, I really appreciate it 👍

      @@WTShenmue Shenmue period but especially 1 and 2 and especially especially 1 is probably the single best game I ever played in terms of just how amazing and soothing but also detailed and rich graphics audio music etc with ambient/background game mechanics going on and to simply walk around in. There are some things game does I swear I have yet to see even a modern game recreate , among them snow and how it works, and while it doesn't literally pile up in real time, the way they did it is brilliant not only can it change from Rain to snow in real time which i'm also fairly certain even that hasn't been done in a game since, but when you as you know go inside a store, then come out later on or say the next day the snow is then piled up and covers much of the ground and etc, little details like that are amazing and still hold their own, then there is the fact that store owners literally put up Christmas decorations for the few weeks leading up to Christmas and then take them down afterwards, just amazing little subtle but also complex things/details like that make this already masterfull game that much more memorable!, I mean I dont even think like Fallout 3 or even 4 for example have store owners who act as natural and lifelike as this game did that came out some what 10 years and then 16 years before! for example, not to mention the games graphics truly do still look objectively amazing especially when played with VGA/HD cable/set up as i'm guessing you also have here. Oh one more detail I swear I dont think I have seen another game implement is how you practice some moves and as you level them up they get better, not only do they get stronger during fights but the animation to some of them literally changes and improves! and that detail wasn't even mentioned or acknowledged in a lot of the previews or discussions or even in the manual when the game came out, just little amazing details like that make this series truly 1 of a kind!. Thanks for uploading these, this background music was always one of my favorites to when it came on/to walk around explore and etc to.

      Wow, I would say I think your a fan as much as me but that would be an understatement!
      You hit a lot of my favorite elements like the weather and mastering your moves.
      I had no idea that happened until I decided to try and master more and wow it truly shows improvement as you go along!
      About the snow, if it's a heavy snow believe it or not the level of snow on the ground will increase or decrease during the same day.
      A great way to see this is if the day starts out with snow, then the rain comes and the level of snow on the street will be slightly reduced! Let it continue and it will disappear!
      So awesome 👍
      I'm glad you enjoyed this video, new one coming out tomorrow at 3 EST ;)

    It's a miserable grey day here in England. Good staying in weather, and my first thought this morning was to be immersed again in the tranquil and unhurried environment of Dobuita. A little corner of the world where everything is exactly as it should be. This was the perfect way to decompress on my day off after a hard week at work. It seems everyone else felt the same way I do, too. Thanks for putting this up.

    I think the choice for no interactions was genius. Our brains get focused on words quickly we can't help it, so having random idle convo in the background would have been distracting imo. It might work for another type of video but this is perfect, 100% perfect. I drink a beer and leave this on in the background as I pace around my apartment doing random things and couldn't be happier ignoring the world outside.

    • @WTShenmue
      @WTShenmue  11 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you so much for sharing my friend! I especially like that I can help you unwind at the end of the day. Just having it on in the background falling into the world of Shenmue instead of the sometimes noisy and bumpy reality outside.
      People have indeed suggested other games that this might work and I do agree that it can work in a large variety, but I don't know... I just don't feel that it would be as perfect as it is in this series. It's almost like this series was made for you to strictly just enjoy the world while other games might have something interesting to enjoy for a little bit, but eventually they want you to move on to something else.
      Whereas here, Yu Suzuki and his excellent team made something that you can absolutely just enjoy being in for such a long time and feeling so connected.
      I always appreciate the comments and honestly when I'm using my limited spare time to put something together, it makes me feel great knowing that there's a few people out there who are really enjoying it 😊

      But it truly doesn't have that perfect balance that you find in the Shenmue Series of games;)

    • @danielhicks4826
      @danielhicks4826 Год назад +1

      The way they did the rain and snow to was just brilliant, even though it didn't have the tech to literally have snow pile up in actual real time, the mechanics of it are still extremely detailed and impressive and honestly it does some things I still dont recall seeing in any game since, like how store owners would not just have there own schedules.routines/. homes to return to after closing but how christmas decorations would go up before/during Christmas, then be taken down after, and then how it could change from Rain to snow in real time actually without a load screen, and then of course how when you go inside or sleep for few hours then go back outside the snow would be covering the ground and piled up around the streets/corners etc, then it would disappear when the sun would come out etc, very subtle but extremely detailed and amazing intricate details like that are among quite a few things that makes this game/series one of a kind and still hold its own even today!. Also the way some of your moves the more you practice them ya know not only would they get stronger for fights but the fricking animation to several of them would literally change and actually improve! I swear I also have not seen any game to that either I dont think, amazing details/ technical merit far far ahead of its time.

      I do get the feeling that they had bigger plans for him. Especially with that strong, heartfelt goodbye at the end.
      Like a lot of games. I'm sure they had to make a ton of cuts in order to make space. They were already pushing it to having the game itself on three discs along with passport on the fourth one.
      I get the feeling they were putting behind it, that his friend was leaving him and going far away to another place. Similar to what Ryo was also about to do.

      Honestly I think its just fine, with one single huge and frustrating as hell flaw....and that is the beyond dumbed down terrible fighting mechanics, all they literally had to do was take the same exact fight system and heck if they were low on budget port it over with even just very slight upgraded animation, thats all they had to do, but instead they totally dumbed it down entirely, even removed throws, and eh so so dang disappointing, but besides that I think its mostly just fine especially for having like 1/50th the support/ programmers/ supporting team/ company and etc that Parts 1 and 2 had working on it. The fighting mechanics downgrade/ failure definitely at the very least takes it down a solid full letter grade or more, but I personally think overlooking that major flaw in fight mechanics aside, that it recreates the atmosphere and feel of the series pretty dang well really, did you play through it all the way just start it for few hours then turn it off or how much time did ya give it? I do know what ya mean though, but yeah the only true huge complaint I have with 3- and to be fair it is a big one because while not the primary focus fighting is a large part of the series and was always very intricate and awesome! but that to me anyways was the only true major/serious serious flaw preventing 3 from being truly great.
