James Gandolfini shower more emotional range in a single scene than Tommy did all season. His cold and dead outlook was better and more realistic. Michael truly felt and looked like a man who lost it all and was no just surviving for revenge. Tommy Shelby becomes a bland character when compared to the best movie gangster and the best TV gangster.

I think the biggest issue that Tommy had with Michael wasn’t just that he lost all the money, but he didn’t show an ounce of regret. He thinks he can walk back into the business, like nothing happened, and even go as far as to demand taking over everything.
Michael fucked up and wanted to be the victim instead of manning up and fixing the problem. That's the reason Michael sealed his own fate, instead of facing the consequences he wanted an alternative route.
Michael being the boss asked Michael(subordinate) to do x but he didn’t do it. That’s not playing victim, Tommy’s solution was for Michael to make that money back as he should’ve. That’s the consequence of making a bad business decision that goes against your superiors objection.
