Prettier than any poinsettia ever dreamed to be. The person at Proven Winner that came up with this idea really needs a gold STAR. The plants are beyond beautiful. An outstanding grower. They look so pretty in your home. And it is money well spent.
Awwww 🥰 Thank You So Very Much for this Video. I totally forgot how Beautiful Caladiums Are, Ya Know I found you This past Spring when I Bought my first Lemon Tree, when I searched imfo on Care for it😁 I have Learnt so Much from you this Year. My Deck Garden has been Awsome thanks to you 👍 I do have some Concerning questions about My Lemon Tree 😭 it lost 60 % if it’s leaves N my House (after being repotted & under a Grow light) I need to know if I snip off the Naked Branches ? Or will leaves grow Back ? We repotted it again last week & the leaves Stopped falling off 👍 My poor lemons are still Hanging on, LoL- on Branches with NO leaves . God Bless your Beautiful Family . Xoxo, Susan from Alabama 👍🤗🥰🎅 11-24-2020 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁🍽
These are staples here in Alabama and I just love them! However, until l saw your photo on Instagram the other day of the one in that beautiful iron container did I ever consider using them in place of a poinsettia. I even commented that. I’m so glad you did this video! A new staple for me in the house and not just outside. ❤️😊
I would love for you to give me the tricks of growing a lemon plant inside and then what do I do when it starts to get bigger and what kind of soil fertilizer and whatnot that I need I've tried one and it came out started great and now it is just not good and I put a grow light on it because of the weather and it still didn't help it's still just I got leaves falling off on one lemon plant stalk there's two stalks in the plant and I got one stalk the leaves are falling off all brown and the other stalk are all nice and green I was wondering if you could help me out
Wow those are pretty!! 😍 The original species (Caladium bicolor) is actually native to where I live(Assam) and i have it growing into a beautiful mound of colour 💚💚
Wow these flowers are so beautiful. I have an unrelated question. Do you remove some videos from RUclips? For example, I cannot find the video where you made some chocolate fudge and other goodies. I think at your parents' home....
Laura, some of those caladiums remind me of elegant begonias with the leaf markings! They look so festive in the corner of your great room! Excited about all the new caladiums coming out for spring.
I just watched the new highlights video and this popped up. I am already having a great day😃 Safe, restful and Happy Thanksgiving Laura and your beautiful growing family!!
The love heart shape of the caladiums great for Valentine’s, and a great alternative to the poinsettia. The display was beautifully paired with your tree. Happy Thanksgivings Laura, Aaron, Benjamin, Russell, Cheddar and the girls.
Caladium plants are truly beautiful 🤩....the veining, colour, shape of leaves, size & easy care! Definitely a winner in my books! However, many stores don’t carry large stocks of plants as we are in lockdown where I live 🥺😟...so I cannot buy any! I would love the white green & red white varieties! 🤞
Amèn Jessica. All of these caladiums are beautiful! If I had to choose I would choose, Fast Flash, white wonder & dawn to dust. I will get me some next year God willing. Laura, they all compliment your home❤
Because we're bringing our caladiums in as houseplants to give them a longer growing time I'm just wondering if there is a point that they will need a dormancy period or are they able to keep going continuously?
What a beautiful alternative for Christmas décor. Caladiums are some of my favorites. I would have never thought of using them for Christmas as an alternative to Poinsettias. Laura can you just gave me some great ideas. I can't wait to see if I can actually find a few to add to my Christmas décor!!!
You have such a unique fireplace. Have you thought of putting timed candles in there if you are not going to be using it a lot . Also I had a 5 Caladium plants in full sun ( southeast NC) and they did great. Love your channel, ideas and just everything. Thank you for sharing Benjamin seeing his tree brought back fond memories of my boys when they were young. oh FYI our Dollar Tree has those nutcrackers again this year. Happy Thanksgiving.
Ohhh what a lovely video for my coffee with Laura today! Thank you for sharing these Caladium's they are all so pretty but I have to say I love that deep red one so may have to do some shopping!!
This is a great idea! Poinsettias are nice but I always over- or under-water them. With caladiums I can just water them. I'm going to try this, if I can find them around here. I'll need to check the garden centers.
Interesting. Well I brought mine in. They were all in pots all summer. I’m in humid Michigan. I brought them in in September and continued to water them but a little less often. I waited 7-10 days vs 5-7 days. But the leaves were dropping. I’m in a bright home with windows everywhere as well as sky lights so anything liking bright indirect light will thrive. But they all died back. Then I read it was because they go dormant in winter. So I’m very confused. I was doing what you’re hoping to do but mine didn’t make it. And I love these plants. I had also read the soil should be well draining and to mix some sand or perlite in so I did. I figured since they’re a rhizome plant or bulb like that I had to be careful with water. I checked them with a moisture meter even so as not to over water. I’m so confused! Please keep us posted on yours.
Loved growing these when I was in FL. I think they would be neat to do in that silica gel drying medium and make a frame with them. Do you think they would hold their shape and color or be too fragile dried?
I don’t wouldn’t want to get my hopes up - hiiiiigh humidity but zone 4 - northwoods WI - but I would ALL DAY LONG do those caladiums along with poinsettias for winter and give a good heave-ho for a summer plant. They are beautiful! 😍
I'm also in zone 4 ( au Québec ) and kept one as a house plant. It did fanstastic in a sunny West-facing window ( I have the AC though, likely helped prevent leaf burn ). In Fall the leaves died. I unpoted the tubers and kept them at room temperature untill I replanted them in April and they grew back and bloomed. This is a nice ''life cycle'' because it would be too dry during the Winter anyway.
I love that your parents garden center is open all year round. Most of the ones in my area, northern Indiana, are closed for the season. All I have now is Walmart and Home Depot
The table shaking at the end while holding that concrete pot makes the caladium look like it's dancing 🕺🏽🤣 Where did you get the first decorative pot insert; the golden one?
Found this on a pet website... Toxic to both dogs and cats, chewing on Caladium causes extreme irritation and swelling of the mouth, tongue and throat as calcium crystals cause soft tissue injury.
They are so beautiful. I especially love the bright red one. Didn’t expect to see a video today but was very happy there was one. Enjoy the holiday with your love ones and we will see you soon. ❤️
You mentioned you won't have as many fires this year. Is there a reason? Also, can we get one quick look at your cute bump! I feel like you never look pregnant in any shots! Sending love from WI!
Love love love Caladiums! Had them in a pot on the deck all summer. Have you seen the new “Aaron” caladium?...just beautiful! Or should I say handsome? 🥰💁♀️
This was my first year planting the bulbs. I put some in the ground and some in pots in the house. I put the ones in the house on a heating pad and set it in front of a window. The ones I had in the house came up way sooner than the ones outside. The ground has to really warm up before they will come up. All came up beautifully! They were so, so easy to take care of. Well, I did absolutely nothing to any of them. Rain storms did not cause them to collapse, as I aniticipated. They all just grew and stayed there and looked the same until fall. The ones I planted in the ground were in areas I did not think anything would grow because it is really wet and moldy, but as I said, they all came up perfectly. I highly recommend them. Also, I had a few pop up in the sunniest area of my flower gardens. How they popped up on the other side of the house, I will never know. I dug some of them up and put them with the rest of them; however, the one I left in the sun did fine.
I agree.. how beautiful they are.. such a gorgeous display of color. I really really love the fast flash 😊 thanks for sharing and have a “Happy Thanksgiving “🦃
In love !!! 🥰🥰 my favorite an easy to care for as well !!! Mine are still rockin here in so cal 🌤 Laura so you dug up all your caladiums on your property???
So wonderful that you’re spotlighting caladiums! Down here in the gulf coast, I don’t need to lift them in the winter & they still reliably come up in late spring. I love how you are thinking outside the box in terms of holiday plants. Here in my area another alternative is the beautiful cyclamen, which come in beautiful colors.
Those are glorious Caladiums. I live in south Florida and never seen them so full in pots (usually they are leggy) actually your caladiums in the garden did better than mine 😳☹️ go figure
me watching the video and enjoying it, also me LOOK AT THAT MONSTERA DELICOSA!!!!!! one would think i have a problemlol. Thanks foryour videos hope you and babycontinue to do well.
They are all so beautiful, and each bring something unique to their display. I'm really drawn to the "Vintage Christmas Movie" one. I really like how ruffled the leaves are on the Dawn to Dusk. I also loved the dark red veining and the dark green margins on the Scarlet Flame. Do these plants work well together, to plant multiple varieties together in a larger container?
I love this plants and would love to plant outside after the holidays. I live in GA , zone 7b. Would they survive? We can get the low temps but pretty much a mild winter.
LAKE PLACID FL is the Caladium Capital of the world. You should visit.... It is amazing. Many, many Caladium farms located in this small town. I live in North Florida but have visited many times. 🌞🌦️
I love the festive colors of the calladiums you showed! I was wondering if calladium plants have a dormancy cycle? Also, did you make a calladium corm storage video?
preach! I have for the last 3 years and still no caladiums in my country!!!!! ~~~~sigh of desperation Now that westerns are buying much more of these maybe they'll start showing up in east european shops soon. Poinsettias are to much of a pain, but we're getting calatheas so maybe caladiums are next. *fingers crossed*
Hi Laura Great video 😊. I just got a box of Caladiums 36 bulbs. I’m here in Sacramento CA. I plan to put them in two pots on my shaded patio. I pray they will look as beautiful as yours. They should start blooming in June. I can enjoy them all summer until late fall. I wouldn’t have ever considered Caladiums if I hadn’t seen yours. Thank you Blessings 🙏🏾
I love caladiums so much but here in LA I haven’t seen them around during the winter months. Please keep us posted about them. I am curious as how they do over the holidays. Thank you!
Ive got an 8 year old poinsettia tree that i received as a struggling baby as a gift from work. Blooms every year for me and stands a good 3 feet tall. Every year it gets better looking and i learn more about her care.
I like greens and whites. They're not so popular, Aaron, White Wings, June Bride etc. How badly I want a plain green with wavy edges. Schonburkii varieties that no one sells. AHEM.
I love this alternative......me-distracted, always looking at your background pots....can you tell me what type of "juniper"? you have in those small terracotta pots? I see the little pines at my local box store but I'm always afraid these varieties will get too big. Love my daily dose of Laura/Garden Answer!
I live in zone 11 maybe 12, 😂 in the middle of the Florida Keys. What can I grow either in containers or in l raised beds that can handle morning full sun and afternoon shade?? I want something besides mother of a thousand and cacti. I have old huge dessert roses and a mini bottlebrush tree full of all diff types of airplants. And a huge Song of India. Any suggestions for things I can pop here and there that wont be eaten by Key deer? Yes we have the only deer on our island, Big Pine Key... lol. I actually have a huge dog kennel used for plants I don't want eaten...orchids, Roses, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!🙏🥰😉✌💚 I grew up with my grandmother who planted everything in our acre of land in NJ when I was a kid, but now living in the Keys it's a challenge to keep plants thriving....
Those caladiums look A Mazing, stunning leaves ... I like em more than poinsettia. They look awesome the way you have potted them and placed them in your home 🌿🌿⚘⚘🌿🌿 wanna get me some ...expensive in NZ ...I'll get one one day for a bargain 😅
Dang it, I watched the full video on Proven Winners channel! Which is good, but I prefer to give you the views 🥰! Oh well, I’ll leave my comment and like here. So beautiful, definitely deserve to be placed with other holiday blooms. 💗💗💗
Dawn to dusk one is spectacular The colour is amazing.... Was hoping ya'll could answer a question for me.... When you mean direct or indirect sun... What do you mean? Maybe you've answered this before... Sorry. sure one of my fellow GA-stans can help me out too... great work Laura
I think your use of "old timey christmas movie" as a descriptive you're thinking along the lines of Norman Rockwell. as in they have that Norman Rockwell christmas feel. I could be mistaken, but that's how I describe that kind of holiday aesthetic. if you look at the tone, or feel, and palette of Norman Rockwell's work, especially his christmas images, they are similar to that 'Miracle on 34th Street'. I've often have heard "Norman Rockwell-esque" to describe that traditional, nostalgic holiday aesthetic. his Santa portraits are known and loved the world over. the coca cola advertisement with Santa is a personal favorite go to that kind of inspiration
Beautiful plants. When you say they do well in your area it gives me hope for growing them here in Brisbane QLD Australia. Quick question do you ever wear a mask when potting plants? I have lung issues and always have to mask up before potting. All our potting mix in Aus comes with wear a mask warnings.
I'm 62 and grew Caladiums in my bedroom as a teen! Mostly the white ones and a red but have no idea what the name of them were. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving from Vancouver Island BC Canada, Donna
Was never a big fan of Caladiums until seeing some of the varieties that you have planted. They are really pretty!!
Hi everyone will you please check my new lithops propagation video
Prettier than any poinsettia ever dreamed to be. The person at Proven Winner that came up with this idea really needs a gold STAR. The plants are beyond beautiful. An outstanding grower. They look so pretty in your home. And it is money well spent.
I gree. Just over the Poinsettias
Look out Poinsettias there’s a new sheriff in town, his name is Caladium.
LOL!
@@themamabearlife3339 Agree 100%. I am so tired of poinsettias and the caladiums are even prettier! It will be interesting to see if they take off!

I accidentally watched the Proven Winners video first. Still had to come here for the “real deal” LOL. Love these in the Unique Stone planters!
Teresa Goins I to saw the Proven Winners video. Hey it's Laura, no problem watching again.

Caladiums are beautiful never thought of them as Christmas before but definitely see the connection
I agree and they are gorgeous!!

My grandma planted caladiums in her garden every year, always had one in the house . She clean he leaves all most ever day
Wow those are pretty!! 😍 The original species (Caladium bicolor) is actually native to where I live(Assam) and i have it growing into a beautiful mound of colour 💚💚
Caladiums just blow me a way every time I see them. How can a plant be that beautiful and colourful.
Beautiful healthy caladiums. So is Aaron sitting like on the floor🤣
Inquisitive to see back of the scenes view😉
Hi Laura, beautiful plants as usual, my question is, can Caladiums be strictly house plants and is this a good idea?
greetings from singapore .. we are lucky as we are tropical country, the plant will not go dormant ! thank you for sharing
The 'Dawn to Dusk' reminds me of tartan plaid (a favorite Christmas look).
So so pretty! Do you ever put pebbles in a tray and put the plant on top to get more humidity?
Wow these flowers are so beautiful. I have an unrelated question. Do you remove some videos from RUclips? For example, I cannot find the video where you made some chocolate fudge and other goodies. I think at your parents' home....
Laura, some of those caladiums remind me of elegant begonias with the leaf markings! They look so festive in the corner of your great room! Excited about all the new caladiums coming out for spring.

I have the same question. Mine grew beautifully in the landscape and I have potted up a couple as houseplants. Will they continue to thrive?
Time will tell
if you keep the humidity right. give em warm and never let soil to dry, it will never go hibernate.
Amazing how strong colored they are 🌺 👍

I love caladiums. They are easy to grow. Either mist them or run a humidifier to increase humidity.
Ohhh what a lovely video for my coffee with Laura today! Thank you for sharing these Caladium's they are all so pretty but I have to say I love that deep red one so may have to do some shopping!!
They looked so beautiful grouped together with the xmas tree Simply Lovely,😚🦃💐💞🌹🥰
OMG So very beautiful!! Love these just bought a few from Proven winners! 💜 thank you for this video! And the Website! Love gardening!💙💙
LOVE THIS VIDEO because I wondered why every single time I'd see a Caladium, I'd think of Christmas and Poinsettias !! I'm not alone! :)
Lol, that's cute, she asks Aaron to put the big pot on the table because it is heavy and then we see her putting it on a table in the house. ❤️
I think it was because she would have had to come around the table.
never thot of caladiums as a christmas plant, but these are a nice change from the holiday poinsettia.
Poinsettias are poisonous to pets and children too. Caladiums are safe.
@@BonnieBlue2A
Actually, Caladiums are not safe! They're toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
This is a great idea! Poinsettias are nice but I always over- or under-water them. With caladiums I can just water them. I'm going to try this, if I can find them around here. I'll need to check the garden centers.

@2:34 is I think "Red Flash" from Van Zyverden and not "Fast Flash". The picture and the online description look different.
These are just incredible
I think planting them in with poinsettias would be really pretty, especially when the leaves start yellowing.
Am I the only one that wants to see Laura pull her hair behind her ears?!! Haha
You know what the biggest problem I see with those?.... Choosing, I love them all! haha
Wow, it's so beautiful that my heart is pounding the whole time I see it.
Prettiest plants I have seen today.I need to get some Angel Wings too now.
I was not successful with caladiums as houseplants, because I figured if I watered them too much they’re bulb would rot.
I need to have this Caladiums plants 🪴 such a beautiful collections 🌿🌵🌴🌱🍃☘
I love caladiums! I've seen them growing up in the Philippines, but never appreciated them until I saw them in your video last year. 😍😍😍
I forgot to mention: they would be perfect by the pond. ❤❤❤
Are they toxic to pets? My dog eats everything. No really, everything, once a sock. I spent more on her Healthcare than mine in 2020
I need the same answer, except for cats. I have a big orange tabby who eats EVERYTHING 🐱

Toxic to both dogs and cats, chewing on Caladium causes extreme irritation and swelling of the mouth, tongue and throat as calcium crystals cause soft tissue injury.

Yes, Caladiums are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.

Those caladiums look stunning!! Just keep in mind they are toxic to pets for people wanting to use in their homes.

Sooo Beautiful!!👍💓
Beautiful plants. When you say they do well in your area it gives me hope for growing them here in Brisbane QLD Australia. Quick question do you ever wear a mask when potting plants? I have lung issues and always have to mask up before potting. All our potting mix in Aus comes with wear a mask warnings.
Caladiums exploded here in Sweden this year. People went nuts over them and you can see why in this video. They are so beautiful 😊
Hello Laura, Hello Aaron. Beautiful plants, loved the video and you too are beautiful too. God bless, Wendy (North Wales, UK)
I'm 62 and grew Caladiums in my bedroom as a teen! Mostly the white ones and a red but have no idea what the name of them were. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving from Vancouver Island BC Canada, Donna
