I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to Monterrey and our food ❤ La Tostada de la Siberia is usually eaten by breaking the top tostada into small pieces so you can grab some guacamole, cream, and chicken from the bottom one, but you should leave some for the bottom one as well, unfortunately, this tostada flavor varies from place to place, the originals don't have mother (they're so good haha). If you ever come to Monterrey back again you should give a try to "Tacos Don Pancho", their sauce is just incomparable, it's served in a mini bottle that you can use to dip the taco in, just put some salt to the sauce, some cabbage inside the taco, dip the taco in the sauce and that's it. ($) El Rey del Cabrito is another place you could try, it's like the crown of Monterrey's traditional food, we are very well known for doing the best Cabrito (the young of a goat that is up to 4 months old) in all of Mexico, some places might be better, but El Rey del Cabrito is the most traditional place here. ($$$) El Cuerno and La Nacional are another two very well-known fancy bar-restaurants. ($$$$$) And my last suggestion would be La Anacua, which is probably one of the best seafood places here. ($$)

It’s so rewarding to experiment and go outside the box when ordering tacos. They’re small so if you don’t end up liking them it’s no big deal. And you can discover new flavors and textures! 😋 Edit: the meats they served at that sit down taco spot are pork, skirt steak, lamb, “Ramos” (chicharrón mixed with skirt steak), and grilled steak.

@@HeresGoodTravel exactly. Tacos Al pastor (pork) is the standard! When the Lebanese immigrants first brought shawarma to Mexico, they prepared it the traditional way with lamb and pita bread (which is what they served you at this place). But Mexicans changed it to pork because it’s it’s more common and available. And they marinated the pork, which is different than shawarma. Mexicans do eat shawarma still in Puebla, Mexico. And other select places throughout the country.
I just want to say 👏 👏. You guys did an amazing job depicting Monterey very well. I almost cried from all the beauty that you showed specially the food. You guys ate all my favorites and my fondest memories of visiting all my life. My mother is from Monterrey and I had the privilege to spend every summer there until I became and adult. Now I go occasionally and miss there food more than anything

@@HeresGoodTravel next time y’all go try something called “tacos al vapor”. They are small tacos cooked in vapor in a big pot. They usually sell them in 6 pieces. Two are beans, Two are potato & 2 are desebrada which is beef. They are eaten with cabbage & green salsa. Believe me you’ll love them.

I'm from Monterrey, and I completely approve and agree with all your food reviews. This video is amazing. Very on-point selection of spots and a good combination of the "fancy" vs "the people" perspective of the city. Pdt: There's a very famous chain of butcheries called "Carniceria RAMOS" that offers a regional recipe of "chicharrones" that are made out of the pork's cheeks and/or its belly (similar to pork belly). Usually, they are prepared with a method that deep fries them in its own lard while also pressing them together. So what Atarantados does is pilling the "chicharrones de la Ramos (or pressed chicharrones) " in a "trompo" so then they can cut them into thin slices and serve them as a "Taco Ramos". The taco is curiously enough, a mixture of two very different kinds of "pork chicharrones"; the trompo meat is deep-fried and pressed cheek meat and the sprinkled chicharrones on top are normally cooked out of the skin of the pork (basically crushed pork rinds).
Wow that description is so cool! We had no idea! We had RAMOS on our list saved but didn’t have time to hit it up! Love your video! Im from Monterrey too, and you were recommended by an expert! Every place you visited is amazing. From atarantados I will help you out: - red meat is pork with pineapple is the same as pastor (puerco with adobo) - the flour tortilla one is lamb (“cordero”) - the one with crispy topping is “trompo ramos” and its a mixture between pork chicharrón (monterrey well known as chicharrón de la ramos, because of a famous butchery) and arrachera which is skirt steak and sometimes flank. - finally, the other one is just a trompo made with arrachera (skirt beef meat) Hope you enjoyed Monterrey!

We went to a Rayados match and had a torta with some of the spiciest salsa we tried our whole trip and some amazing chicharrons in a cone from “Mendez”. The best tacos in tacos del muerto are de cabeza. Been eating there for 25 years. Tostada las SIberia is supposed to be eaten starting with the top tostada and dipping down on the chicken and guacamole. Whatever is left, you eat it with the bottom tostada. In Monterrey, Barbacoa is made of cows head. So you are eating the tongue, cheeks and lip. It’s delicious and very tender. Thanks for visiting Monterrey, hope you guys come back!

I loved this! I'd never seen anyone eating the tostada like a hamburger/sandwich hahaha, I usually open the tostada and start breaking the top into little pieces and eat the filling like "nachos".

I've been living in Mexico for 44 years and have never had mexican street food. It's about the sourcing of the ingredients and the "funky" smell and taste of the tortillas. It's not the corn itself but the nixtamalization process.
Thank you so much Mexico is hands-down our favorite place to visit for the food. They really know how to bring the spice we miss salsa everywhere we go even on our most recent trip to Japan. We went to the market to pick up stuff and made our own salsa.😂
Next time you visit Monterrey (I know you'll come back for more food), please let me know! I would love to take you out to different places that we love! We have so many cuisines in Monterrey- From Barbacoa all the way to Wagyu Nigiri. My wife and I, are food lovers!

I loved this content about Monterrey. I just have one suggestion, we in México do not judge people by the color of their skin, instead by the color of the hair…so maybe when you said something like “if you are the only white people” maybe you meant to say blonde people… that is basically my suggestion, try not to differentiate by the color of your skin but by the color of your hair, that way you will not offense anybody. You could say instead: “We were the only blonde people…” or “we were the only gringos…” 😉

Wow you were in Monterrey in the fiestas of St Jude Thadeus, was near of where you bought the pan de elote, 28 of october. When you come back, taste cabrito in “El Pipiripau” the cheapest and the best. And of Carne Asada y is our best!! Greetings form Monterrey
Yes! All of this!!! Great comment! Our Airbnb was on the same street as the St Jude church and we woke up and walked out and were right in the middle of the street market! The lines for the church were INSANE! Thousands of people. We had to look it up online to see what it was. It was such a treat! We talked about it but those clips didn’t make their way into this video. Where is a good spot for Carne Asada the next time you go and is there a good cheap spot for Machaca? We want to try Cabrito but we want to get some friends and get a whole one for a celebration but it’s great to know Pipiripau is worth the hype and affordable. @@HeresGoodTravel Carne Asada in Downtown a good one is Las Diligencias near la alameda. Good experience and not expensive at all, if You have more budget, noreste grill. Also You have to try tacos de trompo and bisteck, tacos el primo is a must. We have a lot of good food in Monterrey. Machacado con huevo is a breakfast so You have to look for a morning restaurant, maybe restaurante Palax there you can also try a delicious MENUDO in the way that is Made in Nuevo León. You have a new follower from Monterrey.

La Tostada de la Siberia is usually eaten by breaking the top tostada into small pieces so you can grab some guacamole, cream, and chicken from the bottom one, but you should leave some for the bottom one as well, unfortunately, this tostada flavor varies from place to place, the originals don't have mother (they're so good haha).
If you ever come to Monterrey back again you should give a try to "Tacos Don Pancho", their sauce is just incomparable, it's served in a mini bottle that you can use to dip the taco in, just put some salt to the sauce, some cabbage inside the taco, dip the taco in the sauce and that's it. ($)
El Rey del Cabrito is another place you could try, it's like the crown of Monterrey's traditional food, we are very well known for doing the best Cabrito (the young of a goat that is up to 4 months old) in all of Mexico, some places might be better, but El Rey del Cabrito is the most traditional place here. ($$$)
El Cuerno and La Nacional are another two very well-known fancy bar-restaurants. ($$$$$)
And my last suggestion would be La Anacua, which is probably one of the best seafood places here. ($$)

It’s so rewarding to experiment and go outside the box when ordering tacos. They’re small so if you don’t end up liking them it’s no big deal. And you can discover new flavors and textures! 😋
Edit: the meats they served at that sit down taco spot are pork, skirt steak, lamb, “Ramos” (chicharrón mixed with skirt steak), and grilled steak.

@@HeresGoodTravel exactly. Tacos Al pastor (pork) is the standard! When the Lebanese immigrants first brought shawarma to Mexico, they prepared it the traditional way with lamb and pita bread (which is what they served you at this place). But Mexicans changed it to pork because it’s it’s more common and available. And they marinated the pork, which is different than shawarma. Mexicans do eat shawarma still in Puebla, Mexico. And other select places throughout the country.

@@HeresGoodTravel next time y’all go try something called “tacos al vapor”. They are small tacos cooked in vapor in a big pot. They usually sell them in 6 pieces. Two are beans, Two are potato & 2 are desebrada which is beef. They are eaten with cabbage & green salsa. Believe me you’ll love them.

I'm from Monterrey, and I completely approve and agree with all your food reviews. This video is amazing. Very on-point selection of spots and a good combination of the "fancy" vs "the people" perspective of the city.
Pdt: There's a very famous chain of butcheries called "Carniceria RAMOS" that offers a regional recipe of "chicharrones" that are made out of the pork's cheeks and/or its belly (similar to pork belly). Usually, they are prepared with a method that deep fries them in its own lard while also pressing them together. So what Atarantados does is pilling the "chicharrones de la Ramos (or pressed chicharrones) " in a "trompo" so then they can cut them into thin slices and serve them as a "Taco Ramos". The taco is curiously enough, a mixture of two very different kinds of "pork chicharrones"; the trompo meat is deep-fried and pressed cheek meat and the sprinkled chicharrones on top are normally cooked out of the skin of the pork (basically crushed pork rinds).
Wow that description is so cool! We had no idea! We had RAMOS on our list saved but didn’t have time to hit it up! From atarantados I will help you out:
- red meat is pork with pineapple is the same as pastor (puerco with adobo)
- the flour tortilla one is lamb (“cordero”)
- the one with crispy topping is “trompo ramos” and its a mixture between pork chicharrón (monterrey well known as chicharrón de la ramos, because of a famous butchery) and arrachera which is skirt steak and sometimes flank.
- finally, the other one is just a trompo made with arrachera (skirt beef meat)

We went to a Rayados match and had a torta with some of the spiciest salsa we tried our whole trip and some amazing chicharrons in a cone from “Mendez”. Both were fantastic we just didn’t have room for it, we might add the game to another video. Thank you for the help and support, we will be back to Monterrey again!

The best tacos in tacos del muerto are de cabeza. Been eating there for 25 years.
Tostada las SIberia is supposed to be eaten starting with the top tostada and dipping down on the chicken and guacamole. Whatever is left, you eat it with the bottom tostada.
In Monterrey, Barbacoa is made of cows head. So you are eating the tongue, cheeks and lip. It’s delicious and very tender.

I loved this! I'd never seen anyone eating the tostada like a hamburger/sandwich hahaha, I usually open the tostada and start breaking the top into little pieces and eat the filling like "nachos".

Thanks! My Mexican buddy was telling us about this style of tacos he had in Guadalajara so we had to seek them out. The loaded tacos crisped up is harder to find in North Baja where we visit often so it was a great unique style! Thanks for watching and commenting. Salud!

if you guys come back to monterrey again, you must go to Tacos Piedra, its close to Tec de Monterrey campus, and I've been eating there since 2009, even my kids love the place, best breakfast tacos in the whole city

I've been living in Mexico for 44 years and have never had mexican street food. It's about the sourcing of the ingredients and the "funky" smell and taste of the tortillas. It's not the corn itself but the nixtamalization process.
Happy to report we survived our adventure!

Hey Guys, nice to meeting U here, Tacos in México it is like a pizza in Italy different tasteing flavors from north to south. I believe You said you found difference among those you tried on Texas or other places in USA, But theres no comparison in texture, preparation and flavor ! Buon apetit!!
100 percent. We live in San Diego and have two shops that originate from Tijuana and their counterparts on the Mexico side are 10x better. Whenever Alyssa says she’s craving tacos she just means we need to go to Mexico😂
I used to have a co-worker in Colorado who would bring cold cut, white bread sandwiches to work, one day I shared some Mexican lunch food and he flipped out, said”I had no Idea”, “you have changed my life”!

I loved this content about Monterrey. I just have one suggestion, we in México do not judge people by the color of their skin, instead by the color of the hair…so maybe when you said something like “if you are the only white people” maybe you meant to say blonde people… that is basically my suggestion, try not to differentiate by the color of your skin but by the color of your hair, that way you will not offense anybody. You could say instead: “We were the only blonde people…” or “we were the only gringos…” 😉

When you come back, taste cabrito in “El Pipiripau” the cheapest and the best.

Our Airbnb was on the same street as the St Jude church and we woke up and walked out and were right in the middle of the street market! The lines for the church were INSANE! Thousands of people. We had to look it up online to see what it was. It was such a treat! We talked about it but those clips didn’t make their way into this video.
Where is a good spot for Carne Asada the next time you go and is there a good cheap spot for Machaca?
We want to try Cabrito but we want to get some friends and get a whole one for a celebration but it’s great to know Pipiripau is worth the hype and affordable. We will include both in our next Monterrey video when we return from Japan. We still have several more Mexico videos to share.

Machacado con huevo is a breakfast so You have to look for a morning restaurant, maybe restaurante Palax there you can also try a delicious MENUDO in the way that is Made in Nuevo León.
