Steven’s breakdown was so absolutely personal and emotional, it broke my heart
yup. I'm jist realizing how much the pink-wreck-of-an-adult-steven is somehow on of my favorites :') i just see so much of myself in that. That's part of a very importantes healing process, and I really cannot thank this series enough.
“I Am My Monster” hit home for me. I was crying like a baby. I felt what Steven was feeling throughout Future, being scared to be vulnerable. It’s hard to tell other people what you really feel because you fear being rejected. I am happy with how this historical show ended.
I know exactly how Steven felt during a meltdown, it's a dangerous thing. I had on myself during my first few months with college because got so overwhelmed with schoolwork, financial problems, and missing family and my husband was really hard to handle. Had one a few months ago tbh, just different circumstances but just as painful. Sometimes you don't realize what's happening before it already happened

I like how Rebecca created such a relatable character. I feel very similar to Steven. I often feel like all my friends are leaving me, and it's really difficult for me to open up about my feelings. I know for a fact, that I put on this mask that everything's okay, when it's not. it's extremely difficult when everyone expects you to be happy because you've always been happy, and then one day you wake up and you're just not anymore. Sometimes I feel like I give so much love to everyone else, and one day I'm not going to have enough left for myself. I wish I had a support system like him. I've tried letting my mom and some friends Know how I feel, but they just ignore me. This show does encourage me to be optimistic and it really helps with identifying my own feeling. I hope it helps everyone else as well.

Sleepy coffee -_- He wasn’t really corrupted, he viewed himself as a monster and as we saw in “Too Many Birthdays” his body reacts to how he views himself, he was basically having a panic attack.
@@MsLucid Additionally, I subscribe to the notion that while he wasn't corrupted in the same way as the gems damaged by the other Diamonds, he did effectively corrupt himself, as a combination of his involuntary shapeshifting and his Diamond powers.

Hey has anyone wonder after “change your mind” when Steven got his gem taken out and he got it back he got a bigger power buff like he had more of his power controllable and he eventually unlock diamond mode or pink mode (whatever you want to call it) so maybe after his gem was taken his pink diamond power activated. Also when his gem was taken out Pink Steven showed stuff of what pink did like the crystal shield and powerful scream and when he got his gem back what happens he gets diamond powers
I feel like Steven was able to unfuse garnet because it’s just that, it’s Steven, someone close to garnet.
That and he ISSS overpowered xD even before the corruption, he was shown to be immensely powerful. Even more than the diamonds. During that corruption, they all could've easily been shattered/killed.

It should be obvious why there wasn’t a major battle against Steven here, primarily cuz it doesn’t make sense to hurt someone who’s already going through serious mental anguish and pain. Also because, even from what we’ve learned in this show, Gem fusions like Sugilite and Malachite had to be poofed to be defeated, but due to Steven being half human, they don’t know the risks that would happen of trying to “poof” him. Between the lore of the show, and the overall message of the final 2 episodes, it was handled (not perfectly, but) pretty well imo.
In the episode Lion 4: Alternate Ending, it mentions that if Steven was a girl, he would be named Nora. But what I want to see is Steven having a sister named Nora from the very beginning, with the same powers and all. How would the story be like then?

I think why Steven broke like that is because he never had to really have to deal with those evil thoughts because he was always helping people so when he stopped helping those ideas became very apparent
He had nothing to mentally distract from those evil thoughts.

@@tylerplayz4546 Yeah. Honestly. Even tho I didn't cry, I did relate to Steven in Future. He has complicated issues with his mother, with a very toxic helper mindset, and a whole ocean of self loathing.
I had a mother who was abusive and taught me every thing is my fault, so I have a toxic mindset where I need to help all my friends feel better even at the cost of my happiness, and I honestly do hate myself. There isn't any one reason, but I feel like a fraud, a monster, a screwup, that everything is wrong with me and I should be dead so I can stop stressing my family.
But I'm not strong enough to take my own life, or put a knife to my skin. So the loathing festers and creates evil thoughts within my head that beat my self-esteem and worth into the ground.
But uh, yeah. Where I am is where Steven was in Everything's Fine and I Am My Monster, except I can't go kaiju and show my family that I need some love, communication, and support. And I don't have a therapist, tried one for a while, but...it didn't stick.

One of the things I’d like to point out is how just like his mother Steven avoids his problems and runs away from them. They both have had incredible outbursts of anger and hurt other unintentionally hurt other gems. They sweep it under the rug and avoid letting others know to prevent worry and further problems, which in both cases doesn’t work. And the more Steven tries to avoid being his mother the more he becomes her, physically and mentally. What I loved about this season.
This, this actually makes me wonder if pink diamond also had a corruption moment and that's why she changed. And maybe just maybe, that's why pearl was reset three times already.
Except pink didn't run from her problems. She did everything she could to change things but its not her fault she was from an abusive family made up of space Hitlers. By the way, Screw the writers for saying Greg, Rose, and anyone who dares to get away from toxic relationships are cowards. They comletely lost my respect after that. The writing of Future has been complete absolute shit.
Plutia's pet well she did run away from things though. Like for example, she left bismuth bubbled, left spinel for thousands of years, didn’t tell the gems, etc,. So yeah, didn’t run away from her problems per se, but she did abandon others instead of work on the matter at hand

My biggest problem with Pink is that because we were shown her development in reverse it kinda leaves everyone thinking she was a POS instead of a spoiled brat who developed into a flawed yet more mature adult. If you murder someone when you were young and stupid then even if it’s been 15 years later you have to face what you’ve done, the past is the past but you can’t change it only work with what’s done. Sadly others get affected by poor decisions, like Steven. What shouldn’t be done is baring the weight of another persons actions if you yourself is not responsible, something Steven went through since day 1, and that’s why pinks story took a reverse from a leader to the pink we know now.

I have been watching your videos since I first got into the show and I always came to you guys when ever a new episode came out to hear your reviews and theories. Steven became corrupted the hard way, with the fabric of his mind ACTUALLY tearing through trauma and insanity instead of the result of a diamond blast.

I never realised how much i actually I have in common with Steven until this break down. I put other people's problems on top of mine, I don't like facing my problems, I have a problematic relationship with my mom, I reject the thought of being like her but I keep drawing parallels. Honestly this show is amazing, it has helped me so much, it helped me to understand certain situations and show me that my feelings are OK, I've become more vocal about my problems and I try to reach out more often. Im now focused on my own happiness and well being, it is still hard but thanks to SU things are a little more clear.
Now rewatching this I now take Lapis's words as you physically escape your own thought but then I took it as Steven always shows up and you can't run from his persistent kindness

It’s so hard to bare that sight of the car leaving at the end. The outro we’ve seen for all of future and iirc a little bit in the original series, he finally left. To forge a new life and pave a new path, away from his past troubles, to grow and find new passions now that he’s solved what he needed to. Steven universe helped us all grow so much, and I genuinely can’t talk about this without crying lol, crying right now too. I gotta thank the roundtable for being a fun place to look to while accompanying Steven In his journeys ❤
