I'm living in Jacksonville, North Carolina! The Hurricane Idalia looks like - fortunately - is going to miss my area (near the Camp Lejeune Marine base)! Prayers for the ones that were affected by the storm!
I’m on the ship now and it happened 2 cabins down from my sister. Young man took his own life. Very sad for the friends he was traveling with. I hope they can get through this 💔
Amazing! They book these cruises out for a year and they pack the ships. The ones having to rebook could be in 2025. I have a cruise Dec. 2024 and it’s already booked.
As a Floridian of 30 years definitely get insurance. I would suggest be on high alert sailing anywhere in the eastern or western Caribbean from Aug to November. The seas are not friendly and Mother Nature has no interest in cruising
Don, best wishes for smooth seas on your Bermuda cruise. Both of my cruises were affected by hurricanes in October 2014 and 2016. Still made it to the island though 😊
We live near Myrtle Beach, SC. Torrential rain, some wind, but nothing like FL got hit with. Electricity went out for awhile, but all is okay today (Thursday), beautiful, 87, sunny and no humidity.
So sorry to hear of another person overboard. Can't imagine the stress that he or she feels where they have no choice but to end their life. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. Let's all pray and hope that this person is found, and that they get the help they need.
It is now 1 : 20 pm. The storm has long since left Florida. We were on a hurricane cruise a few years ago. Simply put...the boat went where the storm wasn't...it was not a big deal... You may miss a port or go to an alternative port. Your cruise to your departure port might be delayed...For us it was no big issue...
I haven't heard anything about my cruise on the Celebration this weekend, but with all the hurricane activity I'm patting myself on the back for buying my airfare through the cruise line.
Check out Dons VLOG last week about the family out $60k. Make sure you have insurance. The long and the short of it. They bought flights through the cruise line, their flight was cancelled, they missed their flight, they missed the boat, no insurance and the cruise line wouldn’t give a credit or refund.
@redhatbear1135 If there is a late return to port, it's supposed to be the responsibility of the cruise line to rebook the flight. Typically I book my own airfare, but by sailing in the Caribbean during the heavy hurricane season I thought a little extra caution would be prudent. Hopefully there's no disruption on my cruise, but if there is, it's going to be a good test for the policy.
@@theworldthatkristysees We booked last Sept for the Caribbean. Early on we heard that In might delay us 1-2 days. It did, but it was tough at first because there wasn’t a firm day to book the return! The non stops for us are at 3ish and 8ish. The earlier ones don’t mesh with earliest time the cruise line suggest. 10 is slightly early although on numerous occasions we would have made it!
I’m on the Carnival Paradise heading back to Tampa due in tomorrow if the port opens back up. Fingers crossed!
I'm boarding the day Tony gets back on Serenade of the Seas (I hope)
Next to you on the Serenade, hoping as well.
Safe travels 🤞🤞🙏
Praying for a safe return fir you and all ships out there.
Thinking about you and all the cruisers out there.
My condolences to the family and friends. I hope and pray that some day, we can change the stats and get people the help they need.

Maybe cruise ships need to post the suicide hotline number by the cabin phone and post around the ship. It is so unfortunate this keeps happening
Tony said they will be able to get into Tampa tomorrow 👍
Tony is on a cruise now. Due to be back to Tampa tomorrow. He just posted they got word the earliest they can dock is 3:30 pm tomorrow.

Such a tragedy for all😢
Sad! 💔
Nice one, I live in Bermuda
Port Canaveral had to close during Idalia. I’m in central Florida and we only experienced very high winds and tornado warnings.
Sending prayers to the family
I love Bermuda. I hope the island is spared from the hurricane.
The hurricane has passed and is now in Georgia
Thanks for all these updates during the hurricanes.
Already made landfall several hours, idalia.

Don just a short note to say how good it looks like you have healed up. How you are about back to 200%!! Keep up the great work. T❤
Just got off allure with strep and Covid , but waited till last day of my cruise to get sick.
Weather here in Orlando is not too bad.

On the carnival elation waiting to get back into Jacksonville. We've all been perfecting our Jack Sparrow walk!
I just cruised for 2 months all over the Med. I got sick as hell with Norovirus several times.. makes me not want to cruise

Uh , we are in St Augustine Fl - storm has left - it's in George - 2:26 EST

Good Luck.

Don, im worried about Tony and Jennie B's home. Their county is above Tampa. 😢
Don, who says we dont have climate changes? 😮
This will be all gone, but there very likely will be others then. It's supposed to be very active soon.
Too many over boards recently 😢
He is on a cruise now today he said is his last day. If the hurricane doesn't keep him from getting into port
Don. You need to get the weather channel.
Remember the days when you couldn’t cruise during hurricane season 🤪
I’m legit in middle of the ocean on Royal Carribean and it’s so bumpy 😮 I’m scared. If anything happens I love you all
May you be blessed with safety and peace!

when you produce videos ahead of time, you should take into consideration that a hurricane willnhave made landfall by the timenyou release video.
This is why prices were cheaper to sail the Caribbean in the fall. One of the reasons why I got married and honeymooned in October way back in 1987.
I believe he's supposed to come home today
Is Don Ok? Did he miss a day posting? Never happened? Unless I’m out of sink here

@@LoveLiveCruise Thanks for the information!
Why? Airlines let you move reservations up earlier going or on return later. In fact they prefer you go before, it lightens their catch up time.

Plan B < Go camping in Death Vally.
Wassup
Many cultures who have “save face” cultures consider suicide honorable.
It might be interesting to know if it’s happening more on crowded ships.
Why would you want to cruise during hurricane season. Just dumb
Cheaper.
