Wow Don it would have been nice if the two doctors had discussed your case before they scared you. My goodness not cool. When I was first diagnosed with cancer, the resident offered me palliative care right after he told me I had cancer. I told him to go and get his attending because he missed a big step. He said what did I miss. I said the part where I fight the cancer with everything I've got. I've had surgery, had chemo and am now waiting for my next CT scan to officially say that I'm in remission. You've got this Don. 🙂
@@craig9843 I had a friend whose mom had been “labelled” terminal, yes I know we are all terminal but she was given the less than 3 months warning and it seemed to be optimistic. She was in a lot of pain but they didn’t want to give her more morphine because she might become addicted …. Seriously? And yes, after a verbal lashing this non practicing doctor told them basically they’d deal with that after it happened!
Listening to your stories about cancer are so helpful for me. My husband goes in for his pet scan the day before we leave for our Alaska cruise and when we return, 2 days later for another test and consult. This has been so worrisome, but you make it easier to deal with. Thank you for sharing.
I feel your pain. I was in the hospital almost all of February and literally almost died. Had 3 surgeries. Healed incredibly well and was able to avoid a 4th surgery. Now scheduling a final surgery and have cruises late November and January. Got it scheduled October 3. That’s supposed to give me enough recovery time to go in November. Here’s hoping for both of us!
That’s great that everything worked out. Your health, however, comes first. Never put cruising or other people expecting to spend time with you ahead of your health.
My husband had prostate cancer and after it was removed he had radiation 5x a week for six weeks a total of 30 treatments. His only side effect was he got tired toward the end of treatments. At the time he was in his late sixties. So happy they are going to start soon, I feel the way you do, why wait??? Praying this will get rid of any particles and you will stay cancer free!!! 😊👍🙏
Hi Don ,praying everything works out well for you , and remember your health is more important than of these cruises , we all love and enjoy you very much 🤗
Better news at the end of your visit than the beginning of the visit. I’m so glad it looks like it is going to work out so you won’t miss the cruises you’ve seen looking forward to. I’ll be praying for you Don and wishing you the best.
Hey Don I heard about your doctors scare and I’m glad it turned out to be vantastic day instead of a sad day. I admire the strength and the wilderness you have to be strong through all of this my husband and I are looking forward to seeing and meeting you in your niece Angelina on the Caribbean princess take care
With radiation you need to be careful too as it can affects other parts of the other areas, with my mom she had radiation done at the ribs and now she has shortness of breath. This side effect is a daily occurrence with sometimes more than twice per day and can last up to 2 hours per episode. Have further discussion with your oncologist and radiologist to find out more. Take care!
I'm sort of in the same situation with my cancer treatments. I have a cruise in early October . I just went through 5 weeks of radiation and now going through 3 individual brachytherapy treatments that will end 9/11. Once the 25 treatments were done the healing began and I was back to normal (nearly) in 2-3 weeks. You've gone through so much more, you'll be good to go. Good luck with your treatments and enjoy your cruising.
Happy to hear you will be able to get your Trips in and get the radiation over with. You are always in our prayers and know that you will come through this with flying colors. You have been through so much already, Time for good things to come to you.
Don, Don’t be concerned about the cruises you will miss because of your treatments. Your life and the treatments should be the number one priority for you. Cruising is secondary. We want you to be alive for a long time!
You are such a wonderful example to any who may be going through any kind d of major or even minor problems. You are a blessing and may you be blessed.
Your positivity is so inspiring! GlD your Dr. Gave you a date that works for you! Smart not to wait!!! Sending Prayers and positive thoughts your way! ❤️
You'll Do GREAT!!! And have a Fabulous Cruise(s)! I have Prostate Cancer ( 69) and will start Hormonal Therapy in 2 weeks, and then will start 8-9 weeks of Radiation treatment. The Good News it is a Curative Therapy!
I just want you to know that I am praying all goes well for you, Don, and that you have wonderful vacations before and after your upcoming medical procedure. I care about you very much and wish you for to be happy and healthy and hope you enjoy all of your cruises! Sending love and best wishes to you always.
Glad your bad news turned into not as bad news. Prayers for a smooth recovery from radiation and that it gets the job done. Only good news from now on!
Never a dull moment with you, eh Don? Glad that consultation worked ok, for you! God forbid you should miss a cruise or two. Especially since you've been in 'dry dock' for awhile! 😅 You're looking very well and that makes me happy. ❤ Cheers! Judy
I hope your treatment goes well. I know a little about what you are going through. Your doctor sounds like he is going to do the right thing. I does take a little prep work before treatment starts. When I had radiation I had little side effects except for being a little tired. Prayers for you.
Best wishes Don. Just finishing my five weeks of radiation. Not awful but did have nausea and some diarrhea issues- especially towards the end. Got mine as soon as possible but had to wait for Doctors getting back from their summer break.
Wow! I saw the heading of your video and I got so nervous! Wow though! Listened intently and great u asked them for a closer date!! I feel you are an expert by now! God bless you and keep you healthy!!!! 🙏🙏❤️
Take care Don, prayers and white light your way so you are protected. Nothing better than blessings and best wishes, you are a warrior, enjoy your trip.
Was it everyday for five weeks or once a week for five weeks. So glad your surgeon took over ! Glad your plans weren’t all destroyed. So glad you got your same surgeon who knows you.
You really have such a wonderful mind set…..I admire that and will continue to keep your good progress and any treatments that may be necessary in my prayers 🙏 😊
totally understand your concern and fear, I would be shattered to miss any of our cruises and would try to work around them. I've actually canceled my next checkup as we have our honeymoon cruise and commitment ceremony 4 days after they wanted me to go. For my first cancer, i had 28 sessions of radiation, 5 days a week over a 6-week period. So you're lucky to only have 5 sessions. i hope you don't feel too sick or have any problems afterwards. thinking if you and sending love from Tasmania Australia x
So happy you won’t be missing g the group cruise or inaugural Accent sailing. You have such a positive outlook, which makes all the difference in your recovery. You got this!!!
I'm with you choosing radiation over chemo (have had both:7 wks.rad.; 1 yr.chemo; surgery). Worth all of it; 14 years later I'm here to benefit from your travel wisdom. Your attitude is so positive; keep hanging in there.
We pray for your great adaptations to the next round of therapy. There will be significantly positive results!! With your positive attitude you will be fine for your travels!
Hey Don, fight through this! I'm glad it all worked out but if you have to miss a cruise, miss a cruise or two and get better. There are many cruises in your future! Perhaps one day we will sail on the same one.
Don, you are loved ❤ by so many of us and our prayers 🙏🏻 are with you!! Please stay strong and optimistic. Give it all to our Creator and let it go. Focus only on your cruises 🚢 and all the fun ahead for you!!! 🍷🍽️🍺🍾🌴🦩
I had to cancel my sept cruise that I booked back in Feb due to skin cancer surgery just a few days ago. Going to be a long time for my next chance to cruise. I am always amazed at you preservation and continue to be so positive with all you have been through.

Bravo, and I like that response, I probably would have asked if they’d lost their mind!
Unfortunately they make some dumb moves. I saw it happen with my mother.
