I believe most or some of the ships offer daycare or babysitting services until 11pm. So paying the extra fee for a baby-sitter for a few hours would have been the smartest and safest thing to do.

Maybe they forgot about the British couple on vacation in Portugal who left their young daughter in their room while they went to dinner. When they returned, the child was gone and has never been found or seen again. Parenting is a 24/7 obligation and not only when it is convenient.

I was thinking of this exact example, Madeleine McCann. Agree, 100% that patenting is 24/7. These parents appear to have been lucky that the children were unharmed, but I think they took unnecessary and selfish risks.

You never leave little kids like that alone!!! They had the monitors & posted about it because they've done this before & nothing has happened. For those who think it's ok, have done it, or may have thought to leave your babies alone, DON'T!!! All it takes is one time for a tragedy to occur. Do you want to be that one?

Even if they saw that one of the kids was awake or in trouble it could have taken then 10 minutes to get from the dining room back to the cabin. A son could have choked to death in that time. Their You Tube channel should be shut down. So many people (steward, maintenance, room service people and on and on) have ability to enter your room with master medallions.

The couple earned the criticism they are receiving. In parenting like other things in life you can't always do everything you want when you want to do them. It’s called sacrifice for the greater good. Their first mistake was rationalizing a bad plan in order to get some short term self-gratification. Their second mistake was bragging about it online to get views (and revenue).
You should look at day trips from London.

The number of reported crime against children on ships recently even by staff is scary. Knowing how poorly WIFI works on ships at sea, there is no way that the system worked flawlessly. Social service should pay them a visit based on their admission of leaving them alone. Don't want to deal with the kids? Use the child care services or find someone to care for the kids at home while you cruise. And as frequent cruises they know that there were alternatives. The cruise line should also ban them for life for this!
The fact that they thought to bring the monitors says that this is was planned and likely not the only time they did this. Just outrageous!

Really, I can’t believe it….. smh, I hope they get it that they were definitely wrong. Follow up please, this may not end well. OMG, Don, you maybe the one person that figured it out, they had plan to do this all along because why would you need a monitoring system in a small space like a cabin cruise? • @lynneshrode2927

Good point Don….there is no way one would need a child monitor on a cruise ship, the cabins are very small. And most cruise lines ban them. I guess this couple has never heard of Madeleine McCann? Her parents did exactly the same thing, not on a cruise ship but at a resort in Portugal. They left her alone in the room to sleep, and they went to dinner with friends. They were a lot closer to the room where Madeleine was sleeping than this couple was to their cabin. They could even see the room from the table they were seated at. And they had a monitor.
We all know how that turned out. Madeleine disappeared from the room and has never been found. That was in 2007. Madeleine is STILL missing and authorities are presuming that she’s no longer alive. When will people LEARN????

supervised on a letter left in our state room at the beginning of the cruise. However, during the cruise a four year old was left unattended in the hot tub splashing the adults. Security said they wouldn’t do anything about it. When the parents were located they yelled at the adults in the hot tub saying they paid for their daughter to be in there. The father got in and it almost got into a physical fight with another man until a wife stepped between. Carnival Security is the worst. I will never sail with them again.

Yah that couple made a poor decision. I get it, kids can get fussy especially at that age. But they made the decision to expand their family. They made the decision to take that expanded family on a cruise. This means you need to be responsible parents and that cruise starts becoming more about the kids and not about you enjoying a long luxurious meal with your spouse. There are services on these cruises for in room infant care if they really want that night out alone without the kiddos. But just leaving the infant and toddler alone in the stateroom with nothing but a facetime baby monitor.... that is not wise parenting. Get the babysitting, send the kiddo to the nursery. But dont set up baby monitors and expect that to be parenting.

Do they not remember Madeleine McCann who’s parents left her in the hotel and she went missing never seen again! The American social services need to look into this because it is considered child neglect.

No dice here. Maybe their gambling with their kids lives will get them a special vacation in a special cell. Oops I meant room

Well, it’s a different time, but those of us who were kids in the 1950s and 1960s were always with our parents, except when we went to school. Parents did not go on vacations where they could not be with their kids 100% of the time. You went to the beach, you went camping. You realized that kids were a responsibility that would temporarily restrict your life. You never went very far from home. There were little kid amusement parks all over, in all the states, to accommodate families with small children. Nowadays young parents do not want the kids to keep them from doing their pre-marriage adult activities!

@@nicolad8822 really? That might be because things are closer together in the UK and Europe than here. Also, you have good train service, and we don’t. We also went to visit relatives. One set was a five-hour drive away, the other set 9 to 10 hours! And we never flew - that was for rich people (this was before deregulation.)

People are so ready to share their everyday adventures and wonder why they get the reactions they get. It would be the last thing you'd want to share if you leave babies alone in a cruise cabin. There are babysitting services on board and if you can't get one, then get room service and enjoy your food in the cabin while your bubs sleep.
Having children is not only a gift but a responsibility. They are not accessories.

A 1 and 2 yr old left alone, vlogged and posted and have not been arrested or investigated for child safety and endangerment 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Making a bad decision about going early on your vacation doesn’t endanger you. This was insane. A 1 yr old is crawling. Standing up and holding on reaching for things and learning to walk. If the kids were 6 and 7 it would just as bad. My kids were 7 & 8 and never out of my sight.

You didn't make a mistake regarding going to London early. My travel insurance has a "strike list" which the insurance will not cover it. You'll be covered by making that change which means you'll be covered if something goes wrong on the cruise itself.
