Code Veronica is the single hardest Resident Evil game, by default difficulty you can’t change
I think RE0 is a LOT harder! but this is one of the more difficult ones in the series

It's pretty long compared to the others as well. I always felt like this was the most epic RE game.

@@RandoLePerson I respectfully disagree, i feel you get a lot more ammo on CV because of the amount of weapons you have in the game, i put the pistol away about 1/3 through the game and never use it again, the weapon variety is insane therefore using just lets say.... the Grenade Launcher and AK47 for a lot of it, Explosive bolts and BOW rounds for bosses, only a Sniper for Nosferatu... it's literally a walk in the park and never becomes an issue, as for cheesing enemies i do exactly that on CV as they aren't very strong you can get bitten multiple times and still be on Fine condition...I just wait for the lunge and then run past as they are very slow..... some bosses you can skip and don't even need to fight the Albinoid and the giant Spider for example you can just leave the area saving a ton of ammo... knowing to leave the best weapons for Chris halfway through is also a big key to success...
But i respect your opinion.
This is the true sequel to resident evil 2 hopefully it gets remade
only in plot...but re3 has the best enviroment ...based off we are down in the heart of raccon city and see alot of the city...cvx followed the same types of enviroment as re1...nothing new just a different mansion and labs.
Code: Veronica is technically *not* the original third installment. It is a common misconception!
After the success of Resident Evil 2 Capcom had several Resident Evil projects in the pipelines:
- Resident Evil Zero [N64]
- Resident Evil 1.9 (Side-Story) [PSX]
- Resident Evil Gun Survivor (Spin-Off) [PSX]
- Hideki Kamiya's Resident Evil 3 "Boat Project" [PSX]
- Resident Evil 2 [SEGA Saturn]
All the projects being worked on at the same time managed to be a huge strain for the dev teams. So they decided to put Resident Evil Zero on hold which was later continued on the Nintendo GameCube, Resident Evil 1.9 was going to be Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil Gun Survivor was released in time and Kamiya's initially Resident Evil 3 Boat Project passed several gatherings of ideas and would later become Devil May Cry. The development of Kamiya's project reached until the hook man era of Resident Evil 4 before it was remade into DMC.
Shinji Mikami was the supervisor of the SEGA Saturn port for RE2. It seemed that the Saturn was way too weak for realizing this project without cutting content or changing them to the worse. So Capcom decided to cancel this project. Due to the huge disappointment of the fans of the first game on Saturn a SEGA employee talked to Mikami and suggested to create a completely new, SEGA only title for the upcoming SEGA console. Mikami liked the idea and so Resident Evil Code: Veronica was born. This game served also as a side story like RE 1.9! Hiroki Kato, the designer of the first game, took the place as director for this project. Resident Evil Code: Veronica was developed alongside Resident Evil 3: Nemesis but were released one year apart from each other. Since the two games were developed simultaneously and because of the short length of RE3: Nemesis fans theorized about Code: Veronica being the true third installment. But this is a common misconception! Code: Veronica has always been a side story since day one until today. Only because of Kamiya's RE3 project seemed to be too complex for a real realization on Sony's PSX (PSOne) Resident Evil 1.9 was changed into the actual Resident Evil 3 we got and it is known as Resident Evil 3: Nemesis / Biohazard: The Last Escape.

This means that Resident Evil 3 *is* the true third installment and *not* Code: Veronica. Even if both entries were developed at the same time.
It was intended to be the sequel to re2 and with 3 being a spinoff to be released after code veronica and with re 0 to originally be the game to fill the void of content until veronica was finished.But zero was then cancelled and progress was going slower then expected on veronica to the point where capcom then got contacted by sega for interest in the game being a release exclusive for the upcoming dreamcast.And re3 was further along with its development while all of this was going on.So then Re3 was bumped up to be the next ps1 release and the sequel to re2 and Veronica was then being made to release later on the dreamcast with the new deal accepted.

I’m absolutely looking forward to seeing Claire again if they do a Code Veronica remake. Also hoping that they redeem Steve like they did Carlos, I wasn’t much of a fan of either characters in the original but RE3 remake made me reconsider. Fingers crossed for Steve 🤞

I remember getting stuck in the game, and walking across the street to Fry's Electronics to look at the strategy guide... Get stuck again... Go back lol.. I was a teen. This game was great!!!
my favorite RE and needs to be remade....this game is amazing...it has the 3 best villains in the resident evil series...the best story and great setting...and of course Claire....i just wish it was all Claire
maybe with the remake we can get actual competent voice acting as well
Remember when I had my DREAMCAST and bought this.. blew my mind At the time .. this would be a cool one to rebuild as well .. I liked the direction it took.. it’s boring to read the same book.. changing it up was fun for me at least

Playing a Resident Evil game in 128 bit graphics was a wonderful new experience at the time.
Needs a remake and refocus on the story.
4 is important but Code V deserves a proper telling.

My favorite Resident Evil! Also, poor Steve. He doesn't deserve the hate. He is just a 17 years old that went through so much and his love for Claire was the only good thing he had... The ending was so sad 😞

Yea i agree. The voice actor was definitely "not the best" but his backstory was kinda depressing and I kinda understand why he acted the way he did 😅
It makes me sad that a lot of people hate on him. His voice actor did him dirty but he really is a tragic character. To this day, I still consider his death to be the saddest.

Grossly underrated gem in this long running series. Graphics were a beauty for its time, great story (imo the darkest in the series), Wesker with awesome reveal, the game was actually hard for its time (possibly even now compared to most of the re games).
Alexia is a top tier antagonist and the side games were fun too.
I really appreciated this game and is my #2. My only complaint was that you couldn’t decapitate the zombies.
Love Skunk I’m aware they still exist in essence, but I was only speaking of the visual, which you acknowledged.
This game was easily my favourite on parr with resident evil 2. The location and story were awesome not to mention how long it took 😃 childhood memories at there finest 👍 give us a remake capcom
I personally hate the story because it is so damn implausbile regarding its predecessors. Nevertheless it's an awesome game.
I just remember taking FOREVER with my Dreamcast controller to type the password "VERONICA" into one of the computers near the end lol

Hardly a masterpiece. The game can fuck you over in terrible design choices and a step back in gameplay from 3. It’s decent at best.
@glitchfox RE 1-3 the originals were way better designed and you could get through the game with out it screwing you over and having to go back to older saves because you didn’t keep the fire extinguisher or didn’t leave things in the locker unknowingly switching between Chris and Claire. They also made a lot of improvements in the movement for RE3(original) with the map and there was no need to press a button to go up and down the stairs. This is not to mention the poorly designed enemies like the moths and the tyrant plane boss. I do think however the overall story of the t-Veronica virus is interesting so I say it’s at least ok even for when it came out. It’s definitely lower on the list for me personally.

Good game. Played and own the ps2 game still. Also on ps4 digital. Diffently a not talked about enough Resident Evil game. This deserves a remake after Resident Evil: Nemesis. I also believe RE Outbreaks need to be hd and ported over to ps4 as well

Whenever you go in Resident Evil's social media world, every one is asking for a Code Veronica remake. If they do a remake of it, let's just hope they do justice to it and don't ruin it like RE3 Remake.

Bro the very first fight you have in the graveyard caused me to quit playing code Veronica immediately. I got grabbed no sooner I was able to control claire and then I was grabbed back to back 6 times in a row without being able to do anything about it. Immediately decided to just go play Re4

@@stevienightheat1 I dislike it for the inconsistencies between the original trilogy and CV. Claire is suddenly Max Payne, there is T-1000 Terminator Wesker, Steve Burnside, the Ashford weirdo and instant transformations from a human height into a fucking skyscraper of flesh :D

i really only watched this bicause i want to know the story of the full series and i dont really like the fixed camera angles of the older games and plus i cant find a good playthroug
It may be the beginning of the goofiness, but it's still so good. Nowhere even remotely as bad as 5 or 6 thankfully.
and this to me other than maybe part 0 is where the good times end... RE fades into matrixy over action packed drop kick sliding into suplex boulder punching tropes to adapt to the movies ...thank God for the RE1remake and RE2remake
How is Code Veronica more "corny" than Resident Evil 1, 2, or 3 on PS1? Or even RE4 for that matter? Capcom didn't get serious until the RE GameCube remake. Unfortunately that didn't last long with the horrific RE Zero. Hopefully with RE Biohazard, RE2 & 3 remakes Capcom will keep the tone serious and realistic. True survival horror.

Such an amazing game I never got to play it either, just the 1st 30 mins or so. I would dive on a remake if they ever created one this is probably the best Resident Evil game out of all. What a screwed up family but really interesting story. It deserves a big spotlight for a next remake with loads of DLC. It would make a fortune for Capcom.

I mean game looks great and is really immersed in Resident Evil lore and it would be instant hit if it would be done in RE engine that was used for Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes... they NEED to make it...

I think Steve is probably more liked since darkside chronicles made him better whereas Ashley is just useless, baring in mind I’m on my second playthrough of re4 on the ps5 and I’ve just finished watching a walkthrough of darkside chronicles since I didn’t manage to get it for my ps3 or my Wii 😞 and I got drawn into Steve’s character just by him being unique in the same way as Carlos was in re3 remake, so I would say Ashley is more annoying than Steve unless (which you probably do) mean cv Steve then yes he’s more annoying and just off the fact that I’m not a big fan of cv anyways

I pretty much don’t like any resident evils post raccoon city. They ruined the storyline. Especially with 4. That’s was so dumb to go from sci fi to a cult and semi paranormal story. I hated it. A lot of people hate 5 but to me it follows the original resident evil storyline better. 4 just makes no sense and is terrible story wise. If you like running and gunning it’s a good game but I hate how the story was completely ruined. There was so much potential to move forward with the G Virus but they just ditched it right away after 2

no it wasnt....code veronica x had more content...that was the true version...for the ps2....dreamcast just came out first....when the ps2 dropped they were able to add what they didnt on the dreamcast version...thats what the x stands for
