Quit smoking almost 3 years ago but dealing with my stepson drove me back to smoking earlier this year. Now I gotta figure out how to manage the stress without smoking
It's odd to me that we always, me anyway, think that smoking is the only thing that will make it all go away and things will get back to normal. You just gave me that thought. Thank you in a good way.
Option: Do like I do, I'm down to smoking 10 cig's day. I light up, take 2 puffs, put it down. Later, 2 puffs, put it down. And I make my own with organic tobacco.
I'm on the end of day four. Just about to relapse, I'm watching videos to distract myself and I feel like I can't do it. I put a lot into the decision of quitting nicotine, but currently my brain is telling me that quitting is pointless, that cigarettes give such a nice feeling that health problems don't matter as much. And I am beginning to believe it, which is fucking scary. I really hope that I'll make it, that cravings will stop at some point. Wishing luck to everyone suffering from any addiction too. We'll make it.
If you haven't already try reading The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr. The problem maybe is that you haven't overcome the brainwashing that the addiction has inflicted on you. Smoking in itself doesn't actually feel nice, what feels nice is relieving the nicotine withdrawal that you were suffering from. And what causes that withdrawal is nicotine itself!
So glad you uploaded this. I've recently relapsed on vaping after a whole year of quitting. Your videos helped me quit cold turkey for that year, so I definitely need to get rid of this vape and start fresh.
My worst cravings by far are in the morning...i get up half hour before i need to simply to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes...wakes me up brings me round
One of the biggest realizations I had which is also true for porn addiction is that: You only feel relief because the absence of the stimulus the addiction created. A great analogy I heard was it's like wearing super tight shoes all day then taking them off at the end of the day, your relief is an illusion because it was the tight shoes that even created a stressful situation that demanded relief. The only reason smoking makes you feel relaxed is because it lowered your bassline for relaxation/patience/focus/enjoyment, giving into the illusion every time you used. When you start to quit you feel the same mechanism pushing against you like a funnel, trying to get you to sink back in, but what you find is that overtime the incline of the funnel gradually rises until the floor is where it was originally. That feeling of always needing something goes away, and you feel at peace with the moment, ending the cycle of slow gradual discontent that plagues every day of an addict.
Nicotine Substance Use Disorder. THANKYOU SO MUCH. thats exactly what it is.!!!. Ive always loathed how people underrate this addiction, it is for some people the worst, myself included. Alcoholics and recreational drug addicts have Meetings, rehabilitation centres etc, we have none of these. We need a rehabilitation/ 3 week detox centre for those who NEED IT.. ❤😢
I have been smoking for just over a decade now. I quit cigarettes about a month now, and I'm on day 5 of quitting Marijuana. As a result, I'm experiencing severe smoker's flu. I'm making use of home remedies to help my lungs flush out excessive mucus and also took up jogging, which really helps with those annoying morning congestion. Word of advis: You've got this famo. Try imaging who you'd become in the near and far future if you kick the habit and do the same if you continue it. Whether it be physical appearance or health benefits or the betterment of your loved ones, find a reason that matters to you that encourages you to quit. I'm certain I ain't ever lifting a cigarette to my mouth, or any other form of smoking for that matter. Stay healthy
@julesknows2255 some people can just do it without withdrawal, i think they don't store nicotine for some lucky reasons. My friend quit like that after smoking 🚬 for over 30yrs. She got the flu, spent 3 days in bed , and never had a craving, and just stopped. Lucky people. 😊
I quit smoking july 11th 2024. After 2 months I can say it's worth. I have crisis, sudden wish to light up just one cigarette. But I managed to go witthout any. I don't use eCigarettes, Vipe, nicotine patches, nicotine gums... nothing. I put on weight. Cannot stop eating. In 2 months, 2,5 kg (about 6 pounds I think). I will try, there is no returning to old school but, man, it's so hard! Everyday I think go back and start smoking.
I somehow can't get rid off the impression, that I'm happier, when I smoke. I hadn't smoked for 13yrs and started again a year ago. I wasn't unhappy at all, while I didn't smoke. But sitting in a café or meeting up with friends without smoking was indeed less satisfying during the smoke-free years. But the rest of the time I didn't miss it, after two rough years of withdrawal. Now I do know, that the proportions are pretty weird: smoking, because I'm not so happy with a coffee in a café and taking this kind of risk. But my mind just tells me that story over and over again, and because there is a reference to it, I believe it. Although I am very aware of the stress, which every day smoking generates in me. Can anybody help me out with this nasty idea, of being happier as a smoker? Thank you very much for this helpful video! You have watched and analyzed what an addicted mind does to us. Feeling understood on those levels already has an impact on me! Love from France, Tanja
Sorry my english is so Bad. But same here😅 but in my Situation Are some Friends my in Brain Registrated Smoking Friends..and with them Sitting in a Cafés without Smoking is very hard.. my Brain is connected between coffee, cigarettes and some Friends.. but with my non Smoking Friends is Not so difficult..but i have sometimes the samefeeling Like you..that im happier as a smoker..
@@Molly-fl6zi At least I‘m not alone with these weird ideas, although I don’t wish it on anybody. Good luck for everything, Molly! If I find the solution, I‘ll let you know!
This is very useful information, especially the craving negotiation part. I stopped 14 days ago after smoking weed and switching to cigarettes years ago. I chewed some nicotine gum at work after lunch here and there but dont anymore. Still going from day to day.
I have pretty much quit for all purposes, not thinking about it all the time it’s been like 4-5 months and Iv had 5 cigs in that span… not proud of it but also not upset with it either, My biggest trigger is having a heavy meal and a couple drinks in me, it’s just so soothing to end a night with a smoke and idk how to get that idea / craving out of my head
For me there have been two things that helped me. One was, quitting drinking cofee. I found that even after 20 years smoking, i could not stand the taste of cigarettes without cofee. Anither one was eating sunflower seeds. They took care of the physical habit of “bringing something to my mouth with my hand”. And sunflower seeds make cigarettes taste even worse. Also, having someone to help you quit helps a lot. Having someone to hold you accountable when you fail and praise your milestones trought the quitting process. Also, its easier to lie to ourselves, but when you have someone that you are “letting down” when you become weak and fall to the cravings is a big help. If you have said someone in your life, have them secretly record you smoking, and watch the video. At least for me, i was so embarrassed watching myself smoke that it was one of the main things that got me tru. I’ll be honest tho, after 22 years in the military(smoking) and dealing with severe PTSD, i’ll have to admit that smoking got me tru. Instead of consuming the cocktail of narcotics that the VA wanted me to take, i just smoked. And it wasn’t the nicotine what fot me tru. But the fact that smoking was giving me that “me time”. Were i would meditate and think and work tru problems. There are better and healthier ways to accomplish this tho. But the point is, you have to study your behavior in an objective and neutral way (easier eaid then done, and having a partner really helps), and figure out why you actually smoke, and attack/change that behavior.
Im 3 days off and smoked 4 years. I had worst cravings on day 2 but im so done with cigars i would rather die then light it up. I smoked from age 18 to 24, then quit cold turkey for 8 years, and took smoke again for 4.. now im done for life. It has so much bad influence on health that i feel a lot better after 3 days...
I gave up smoking cigarettes in 1996, in my 50s! Was tobacco free for quite a while; then I thought it would be a good idea to pick up something that I had played with as a young man called dipping, chew, Snus. Retired in Thailand where dip is now legal & made here. Only do 1 or 2 cans of long cut per month, but every day I say “thats it”, but am hooked. Pray and search the internet . Hooked old guy. HELP!!!!
Took me long enough than original said on attempt again, im 7 days in clean. No crutches. 8th hour on the first day was the most intense/peak this time around. Really don’t want to waste my time pouring these hours, days .. weeks down the drain with a relapse. 3 months to make it at and I won’t try moderate again. Not for me personally. I’ve been obsessing with my health and a new hobby, big help.. also playing a pretend game with myself where I try to pretend as hard as I can that nicotine and weed doesn’t exist.. (nicotine being the lead siren of the two)… really focusing else where on other things. & reminding myself when intense cravings along with the mind demons of false prophecy declaring that I won’t be satisfied in the future without allowing myself that high… it’s a load of rubbish. I’ve been peak happy sober.. without any substances before, as a child… also … no matter how convincing the intensity seems… it will pass upon persistence to ignore it. Keeping my guards up at any time necessary
I'm realizing that i need to quit, started at 16, I'm 63, almost 2 packs a day now. 18 years ago i was diagnosed with COPD, and 8 years ago had a heart stent. It's weird because I know i need to quit, but i feel fine and even with COPD i breathe fine. I did a cardio stress echo test and did 12 mets but they said when my heart was coming down, they saw a little fluctuating on my left side, so they say i should probably get another angioplasty just to be sure. So i think my time has come to quit this nasty habit, but I've smoked so long i don't know if I can, but I'll try 😊
I’ve been off nicotine for 3 days after using it for the last 4 years everyday. Last night I didn’t sleep at all. I’ve been awake almost 30 hours. Anyone else experience this?
My girlfriend just got out of surgery for her lung cancer They took out the lower left lobe She came home and started smoking 2 days after surgery I flipped out She is very tired and is having a difficult time quitting Any advice?
I quit alcohol first, then weed now i am trying to quit cigarretes. The hardest for me is cigarretes becouse they were my "hold on" during those times. I still smoke but much less and i want to fully quit soon. But is by far the most difficult one.
Nicotine gum is making me fail my quits. It is making me hysterical and sick. Feel like 🤮 Plus the nicotine never leaves my system and the gum drives me to want to smoke. No way can I do nicotine replacement. Got to go cold turkey.
Ha, I was out of smokes at war for over 9 months. Still had nicotine fits. Worse, my ADHD comes in full force makes it super hard to concentrate and that never goes away. Docs will prescribe me Adderall but trading one addiction for a worse one does not sound good to me.
Hi, I just wanted to share my thing. I quit smoking for 5 years without any problem. Then, a year ago, after some issues with some medications I started using for IBS, I started using again because otherwise I wasn’t able to go the bathroom after I eat in the morning. (I have OCD and this is a big big trigger for me). I tried to quit in these days, and I couldn’t go… then after like two puffs I had to go… The thing really demoralized me cause right now I see the cigarette as a helper (like you say in the second point of the video). I tried to do the “I’ll smoke only that one in the morning”, and of course I ended up smoking the other 4/6 during the day! Here it is… anybody?
To be honest the best way to stop smoking is to meditate and think of the times you got high and believe you are in that moment. You will not want to smoke again.
Nicotine is one hell of a substance. I was addicted to a lot of substances and the only thing I still struggle with is nicotine. I want to quit I will quit very soon. It brings my astma out when I am in withdrawl so I can’t quit at the moment because of school and sports so I will wait untill the summer brake. I am counting down the days untill I can be free from this curse.
Tobacco is an herb with medicinal properties. The Indians, recognizing the medicinal value of tobacco, used it for centuries, before cigarettes appeared in 1850. It's an antidote to Malaria, and an appetite supressant.
I see no benefit in smoking other than I don’t want to go through withdrawal but you have to realize as long as you smoke you’ll always be going through withdrawal
I have been trying to quit for I’m on day 2 and I would smoke about a pack a day,Yesterday I had 6 total, today so far I had 4 but what I can tell is that I’m still going threw withdraw just cutting myself dwn by more than half of what I normally smoke!! I WOKE UP THIS MORNING COMPLETELY SOAKED IN SWEAT!!!! Clothes, skin hair..It looked like I just got out the shower 🤦🏽♂️
Mouth tape? That sounds like something suspicious in a sense that sometimes your nose can get stuffy from all kinds of reactions. Then it will restrict your breathing and I don't see how that would be in any way beneficial. I think the reason we can breathe through our mouth in the first place is to have a backup way to actually breathe. But the nosebreathing topic itself is super interesting nevertheless, since I've had problems with my nose being congested from what appears to be - consuming dairy.
If they are inhaling the smoke more deepy. Or the brand is stronger or smoking is just worse for that person. Then smoking 15 a day might not be any safer then 20 cigarettes a day. And them reasons could be why they are not smoking 20 cigarettes a day
Tomorrow i quit smoking cigarettes but in the future i want to try weed and if its good for me i will use somethimes. And i also want to try kratom and 1 time in a month smoking cigar.
Some people might smoke less then others. Because it could be worse for them people. Like they might be inhaling the smoke more deepy the brand might be stronger. Or smoking could just be worse for that persons body. They might not even know that could be why some might smoke less then others
How do I get my grandfather to stop smoking he is 80 years old June 19th - wont quit for himself or anyone I'm afraid for his life he smokes while he is driving - riding on mower- using bathroom - any advice ? btw : doctor didn't ask him to quit doctor told him to quit he said stop it! before you die..
I’ve been dealing with hard marijuana withdrawals( I have been a consumer for 8 years) and someone suggested I eat a delta 9 gummy so I can eat and relieve the insane anxiety and panic attacks I’m having. Is this considered relapsing or is it okay to eat a gummy to relieve the anxiety?
When you stop smoking you realize how bad cigs actually smell. They're repulsive to say the least. Trust me guys you can quit. I went to the gum afterwards and it was effective for me. Maybe it'll work for you.

Smoking has ruined my health. Save yourself and try making Tobacco illegal on behalf of the millions dead cus of smoking
My worst cravings by far are in the morning...i get up half hour before i need to simply to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes...wakes me up brings me round
Same here…chill morning with a cig and coffee…same when coming home…
Today: no cig!!! I quit! I want to be free!!!
One of the biggest realizations I had which is also true for porn addiction is that:
You only feel relief because the absence of the stimulus the addiction created.
I quit for 3 years. Got stressed out about a bunch of stuff and told myself ima smoke one. Been back to it the past 8 months 😑 today i quit for good
How's that going?
I’m needing that next cigarette every 10 mins. Hope your video helps!
I gave up smokes 14 months ago no cravings withdrawal no cold turkey and not spending 200 plus a week on the evil things I'm done.
How did you quit? Please share how.. you quit .. I’m desperate!!!
“The only stress it cured was the stress it created” was such a good point.
Smoking my last one right nou wish me luck
How is it going???
This is very useful information, especially the craving negotiation part. I stopped 14 days ago after smoking weed and switching to cigarettes years ago.
I chewed some nicotine gum at work after lunch here and there but dont anymore. Still going from day to day.
Day 2 after 10 years of smoking 2 packs a day. Like = reminder not to let myself&you down
You won’t let me down. You got this!
I have pretty much quit for all purposes, not thinking about it all the time it’s been like 4-5 months and Iv had 5 cigs in that span… not proud of it but also not upset with it either,
My biggest trigger is having a heavy meal and a couple drinks in me, it’s just so soothing to end a night with a smoke and idk how to get that idea / craving out of my head
I discovered this video today 14 Nov 2023 ..16 hrs since my last cigarette . Who else recently decided to quit smoking?
Me! Last cigarette 4 days and 19 hours ago! First time attempting… not at all easy, but doable so far… how are you doing?
Hi i was wondering what your thoughts were on Thanatophobia and how to make healthy coping mechanisms to combat these thoughts.
Haven’t been successful yet but please keep up the videos 🙏
The thing to understand is it might not all ways get them instantly. If someone was smoking 30 cigarettes a day for 15 or 20 years
Achieve: Better mental health
Awesome video Dr Frank... Many Thanks as very much needed for my upcoming quit.
Thanks for the great video message!
Excellent tips and great explanation of cravings. Thank you
What do you do if your routine is ALL OF THE TIME?
Quiting makes you better for who you want too be 🙂
I’ve been off nicotine for 3 days after using it for the last 4 years everyday. Last night I didn’t sleep at all. I’ve been awake almost 30 hours. Anyone else experience this?
Don't worry it will wear off. Stay strong.
Yes. It will end after about a week.
Keep strong and busy! Distract yourself with anything! Try meditation or hypnosis videos on your to help you sleep or 4, 7, 8 breathing exercise.
🎉 congratulations 👏
And try breathing exercises and remind yourself how your healing ❤ the end result is amazing,I'm in the same journey...
This is absolutely amazing, thank you so much
My girlfriend just got out of surgery for her lung cancer They took out the lower left lobe She came home and started smoking 2 days after surgery I flipped out She is very tired and is having a difficult time quitting Any advice?
Is there a proper order to quit regarding nicotine, weed, caffeine, and sugar?
I quit alcohol first, then weed now i am trying to quit cigarretes. The hardest for me is cigarretes becouse they were my "hold on" during those times. I still smoke but much less and i want to fully quit soon. But is by far the most difficult one.
I'm never quitting COFFEE, EVER. ❤
Nicotine gum is making me fail my quits. It is making me hysterical and sick. Feel like 🤮 Plus the nicotine never leaves my system and the gum drives me to want to smoke. No way can I do nicotine replacement. Got to go cold turkey.
Nicotine patches helped me stop and thinking of lung cancer.
how are the cravings after you stop the patch?
Great tips..Thank you.❤❤❤
Ha, I was out of smokes at war for over 9 months. Still had nicotine fits. Worse, my ADHD comes in full force makes it super hard to concentrate and that never goes away. Docs will prescribe me Adderall but trading one addiction for a worse one does not sound good to me.
I've gone from a pack a day to about 5 cigarettes maybe....and I hate it when I do it now ,I don't even smoke the whole thing anymore 🎉
Hi Amy!! So.. you used the method of “decreasing the number” of cigs per day?
Hi, I just wanted to share my thing. I quit smoking for 5 years without any problem. Then, a year ago, after some issues with some medications I started using for IBS, I started using again because otherwise I wasn’t able to go the bathroom after I eat in the morning. (I have OCD and this is a big big trigger for me).
I tried to quit in these days, and I couldn’t go… then after like two puffs I had to go…
The thing really demoralized me cause right now I see the cigarette as a helper (like you say in the second point of the video).
I tried to do the “I’ll smoke only that one in the morning”, and of course I ended up smoking the other 4/6 during the day!
Here it is… anybody?
Take a mild laxative. Or do an herbal cleanse. Do a saline enema. I mean, there are ways to have a bowel movement that do not involve nicotine.
@@tatie7604 thank you for answering back! Yeah I know about those methods. I’d like something good in the long run! (And I know tobacco is not btw!)
To be honest the best way to stop smoking is to meditate and think of the times you got high and believe you are in that moment. You will not want to smoke again.
Breathing and altoids and all the other suggestions
Keep a notebook near by and schedule day
Nicotine is one hell of a substance.
Its the worse addiction...it works exctly like crack
Did you quit THC and cigarettes at the same time??
I think heating with vaping. Is as close to burning as you can possible get
My problem is that I like tabacoo. I hate that it damages my body so severely but I do love tabacco.
Tobacco is an herb with medicinal properties. The Indians, recognizing the medicinal value of tobacco, used it for centuries, before cigarettes appeared in 1850. It's an antidote to Malaria, and an appetite supressant.
This hits home bro!
STRONGLY recommend the book "Easy way to quit Smoking" by Allen Carr's
I got the link in the video description!

Ho do you feel about Mullein for clearing out phlegm? Ty
It works, I have Mullein tea from my health food shop. 😊
Thank you!
With how they are meant to use nicotine gum. Is it the nicotine they are not meant to swollow or is it something in the gum or both?
Thank you for your help!
Anytime!
I see no benefit in smoking other than I don’t want to go through withdrawal but you have to realize as long as you smoke you’ll always be going through withdrawal
Step 1 : Read Alenn Carr's book
Then?
@@ancienregimegaming7944 Then if you have any braincell left, you will stop

I have been trying to quit for I’m on day 2 and I would smoke about a pack a day,Yesterday I had 6 total, today so far I had 4 but what I can tell is that I’m still going threw withdraw just cutting myself dwn by more than half of what I normally smoke!! I WOKE UP THIS MORNING COMPLETELY SOAKED IN SWEAT!!!! Clothes, skin hair..It looked like I just got out the shower 🤦🏽♂️
GOD BLESS ALL
@Conor McTapOut No need to be a wise mouth
🎉 congratulations
I stoped smoking weed for 2 days now I have to stop tobacco and keep on it
If they are inhaling the smoke more deepy. Or the brand is stronger or smoking is just worse for that person. Then smoking 15 a day might not be any safer then 20 cigarettes a day. And them reasons could be why they are not smoking 20 cigarettes a day
"Second." (Quote by Scruffy, the janitor)
if i smoke 2 cigarettes a day im i considered addicted?
I would say if you're smoking more than once a week or so you're definitively addicted
@@burneracc9929 definitely
I smoke while wearing those strips.
Tomorrow i quit smoking cigarettes but in the future i want to try weed and if its good for me i will use somethimes. And i also want to try kratom and 1 time in a month smoking cigar.
Don't start new addition
Sport, cycling.
He will die if he were to stop I kid you not... His 80 years old I don't even want to know when he started smoking.
Leave the poor old man alone. In his 80s, he's entitled to smoke. Chuff on Grandpa. ❤
Let him enjoy while still alive
I’ve been dealing with hard marijuana withdrawals( I have been a consumer for 8 years) and someone suggested I eat a delta 9 gummy so I can eat and relieve the insane anxiety and panic attacks I’m having. Is this considered relapsing or is it okay to eat a gummy to relieve the anxiety?
relapse
What’s going on with that weird taste in your mouth when you quit nicotine . It’s been 16 days and I still have this weird taste in my mouth .
It's the tar that has been accumulated
A craving lasts for 7 seconds..
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 your wonderful entertainment mortal !
When you stop smoking you realize how bad cigs actually smell. They're repulsive to say the least. Trust me guys you can quit. I went to the gum afterwards and it was effective for me. Maybe it'll work for you.
Are you?
Hungry tired or lonely children 😅 Is winning off a Baby bottle lol
Blow your mind smoke gunpowder
What are the white strips he is talking about . 🇬🇧
They seem to be stripes you put on your teeth to whiten them.
